*RELEVANT INFO* The "How does it work" series is back for 2019 and we'll be using our new ATC radar visualization to explain how different airports and controllers work around the world. These videos will be released every SUNDAY. Thanks to all those real controllers that are collaborating with this project providing some information to VASAviation so the content shared here is as professional and real as possible. We start with EHAM operating with south configuration and the FULL TMA SECTOR which works both departures and arrivals. Let me know what other airports you'd like to know more of and watch on the channel. New York Kennedy will be released next Sunday! :)

You can see this is very mechanical during normal operations. ATC instructs and says almost the same every time an aircraft comes on frequency. He says the runway to expect, a heading and a descent - that's basically it. There are other sectors that are more interesting and demanding.

The Dutch accent of the controllers sounds quite strong to me (I'm Dutch), but maybe having listened to so many ATC conversations of American airports I'm just spoilt.
@SolarWebsite5 жыл бұрын
I honestly think they might be doing some of it on purpose, especially the emphasis on the rolling R's, it's much more pronounced than in normal Dutch. I think they might actually be encouraged to do this because it may actually prevent some misunderstandings in pronunciations?

@@Babsbabet Yep, I think especially at EHAM they are very keen to pronounce Left/Center/Right as clear und unambiguous as possible as they usually operate all three parallel runways (18L for takeoff, 18C and 18R for landing) with a lot of traffic. An aircraft turning for 18R instead of 18C (or vice versa) and cutting into a packed sequence, or landing on 18L can quickly turn into a major disaster.
@TheNewTimeNetwork5 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I go there quite often and it's probably the best and worst spotting location in one. The amount of times I've been in place for a certain aircraft for the runways in use to change but with good reason of course.
