What better state to do a fly fishing road trip than Montana? Follow me as I venture through the middle of the pandemic through some of the most beautiful fly fishing waters in the western United States.
I recommend beginning planning in the winter. Call shops in the winter time and you will good good advice from the skeleton crew. Never want to be the guy asking for fishing advice in July when they are busy getting guided clients on the water. This has worked great for me over the years.
35” bull trout at the confluence of the blackfoot and clarkfork. Game warden witnessed it 👍🏾🎣
Did you get to take the high road over to Melrose? Or walk wade the Ruby? If i remember right, thats between Twin and Dillon. I wanted to comment on #4 Beaverhead with Seth. I used to work at the place down the road by Winston. Great stuff. Tight lines and drag free drift forever!!!
North Fork of the Blackfoot 😉🎣👍🏾🦅
great job on the video. enjoyed it
we did a Bitterroot trip for fourth of July week in 2020 as well. Wetter & colder than past trips we’ve taken, thus - river flows were higher than expected. But it was still great, none the less. Going again this July if we can get our act together 😆
I'm heading down at the end of June after runoff. Rock Creek and Bitroot tribs then onto Butte. All diy. 10-14 days, Baby!
The biggest fish in that stretch of river was probably feeding in that section where you are standing.
That red worm is where it’s at
Thanks for the great video Eric, I’m leaving Denver for MT in a week. Solo road trip, DIY and this content was really helpful as I’m newer to the sport and Montana. My plan is to visit some spots, the local fly shops and seek advice.. hopefully that puts me in some fish. Is it easy to camp these areas near rivers? I’ll be living out of my 4Runner for a couple weeks. Thanks again
sorry for the late reply. that's awesome and good luck! get away from the roads and easy access areas. let me know how it goes!
I am coming in mid June anyway I can get a list of where to go on the road trip. The route you took please
Enjoyed the video. What was your rod and reel set up.
I think that was my Winston boron ii set up. Winston is actually located within a few miles of where we fished which is pretty cool
Looking at flying in from England in Mid May for 10 days! Any advice matey?
I'd highly recommend using 4 rivers fishing company to guide you for at least one day. If not, they can point you in the right direction for sure
dont get ate by a grizzly
@@guwop2234Fax. Also if you have time get a Bull Trout tag and go to the South Fork Flathead. If you fish large streamers in deep pools you can catch 30+ inch monsters
I am glad you were respectful and protecting others during filming. Thanks. Great vid
saw the mask at gas pump, done with this vid
What a stupid reason not to watch a video. What other insignificant things trigger you?
If you’re going to wear a mask at the pump, follow through and wear it on the water. And thanks for exploiting our public waters. Trout and resident anglers love that
dude wore a mask in montana
Is there no covid in montana 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 idiots
Maybe leave the names of the places you’re fishing out of the video. Say Montana and leave it at that.
Simmer down chief, with the attention span of a goldfish most people aren’t hiking around Montana’s rivers with an 8 wt sage and nomad emerger in hand
@@jamesmoran2326 not to mention he's not dropping pins on where to park
Whatever...its all available anyway and f&g will tell anyone who asks. We outdoorsman are too selfish...I used to guard all my secret spots...now in my later years i realized all it did was ruin relationships. And i learned my secret spots were always someone else's secret spot too. Let's go fish and enjoy what little we have before biden destroys it all!!
