We sit down with Jay Woods, owner of Luxury Coach in Marion Ohio, to discuss the 1988 MCI Motorhome project. Watch this 3 parts series unfold as Jay walks us through a slide show of everything that was done to breathe new life into this magnificant coach.
This was an interesting daycoach remodel. It included recessing the back bed frame into the wall, modifying the existing TV and entertainment built-ins as well as customizing tail lights with new stainless steel covers. New stainless steel rub rails were also installed.

  • the coach looks great, I picked up a brand new 1988 MCI 102 A3 just like yours from the factory in Winnipeg Manitobia , It had an 8V 92 in it with the 5 speed stick. It was a great coach to drive on tours and I had it for 3 years. I do have 1 question , In the shot of the back with the new tail lights there doesn't seem to be any reverse lights which are mandatory in Canada to be legal. Are they not mandatory in the States.

  • Thank you for this video. I appreciate it. I know that you guys are professionals. I have an 06 Wanderlodge. I have heard that stainless steel needs to be etched in order for correct paint adhesion. Is this correct? You did a great job on this MCI. Subscribed.

    • Yes most definitely the stainless needs etched first. Appreciate the compliment and thanks for watching!

  • At first, I wasn't impressed with the paint job, but that was before I saw the coach outside, and from a bit of a distance. I then changed my mind. It looks great. The tail and brake lights , not so much. I think they're too futuristic for the overall look of the motorhome.

  • Why, was not this design sketched out on paper first? Also it was not done by a professional artist as the design surely lacks the basic fundamentals of design protocol, the thick and thin rules were not used, it does not have any flow, it's just straight lines wow. I am a published professional artist with my work in national magazines, that has painted many fast boats, RVs, Race Cars, Semi trucks, etc... I worked and owned a sign shop for 13 yrs, traveled all across America doing famous peoples rigs. No conceptual drawings were made, why ? How can a customer really get what he is paying for with masking tape layouts, we are not in the 1970's people. All this being said if the customer is happier then it is fine, however, I know that the customer did not get what he could have gotten from a professional artist and that is sad as we know he spent a lot of money for just strips, but that is that eh?

    • Hey River. We appreciate your feedback and your experience with painting. Sounds like you do indeed have a lot of interesting stories to tell. As to your comment though, I am sure you know (being in the business world) that when a remodel/paint job is done for a client, their specs are followed. As this customer has been in the industry for over 50+ years, it was their wish to paint this coach in this exact manner. While it might be great to have a custom painted design, it is cannot always be done. Customer is king and this was one HAPPY customer. Thanks for watching!

    • @@luxurycoachsalesservice2751 FWIW, I like the paint design you chose better than 99% of the buses and RV's out there with 'ribbons' and other crazy stuff. Not sure what River was getting at, but this was a classy job. Only thing I would change (were it mine) is not to use black - not because it isn't beautiful, but because of the heat retaining qualities. Looking forward to the interior makeover.
