What Billie Eilish's parents had to sacrifice to make her a superstar
The names Billie and Finneas are familiar to anyone who is even a little bit into pop music. But to become so famous and successful, their parents had to work hard and sacrifice a lot of things for their children. What unusual rules did their family have? What did their parents have to give up to make their children famous?

  • To add to this...Finneas had severe anxieties as a child, so he was home schooled. Billie also has anxieties, learning disabilities auditory processing disorder, as well as Tourrette's Syndrome. Homeschooled, too. This means that Maggie could not work full time. They bought a small house in northeast LA. Patrick fixed it up, and they flipped for the 2 bdrm bungalow that they live in. Then, the 2008 housing crash affected them, and they almost lost the house 🏠 Billie said that they had no spare money at all at that time. That's why she wore thrift store clothes. She said that going to Target was "fire" from her perspective. The Baird-O'Connells truly dedicated themselves to their children's best interests while working hard and living modestly.

My dad was the set builder for a few plays my sister did, she always had a main role if not the lead. My mom did a lot of the painting. Those sets were never safer or more beautiful then those productions, so much so that a prop house gladly took several pieces after each show run was over.

I know a family which was like billie's, the musical parents taught music at home to their son and then he graduated as an Engineer and later did MBA to become a worker in corporate world. He does well financially. And here me being an Engineer and doing well, teaching my daugher music as a side thing and asking her to focus on being a professional Engineer or Doctor.

  • Its great they have gratitude. But also.. most parents dont love their children in a real way but only control them or demand what needs to be done or leaves them to live on their own struggle on their own and sneer at them when the child is upset at something and chastise them for not knowing what the real world is like. I think if we are truly kind and loving then gratitude is a byproduct. Expressing it and communicating it must be taught, as well. It is beautiful to see such a close family, and real true nurturing. I am so glad the girl i babysat showed me Billie Eilish. I wish i could have afforded the concert for us without it taking me too close to zero. Im just a loser but i know if my parents were for me and not against me, i would have made it to a different place than i am today. Still, even with that support, she expresses so much that i can relate to, with such cool calm collected sass. I feel the sadness, the loneliness of our Aquarian Moon hearts.. i wish Billie to be loved thoroughly, the way she desires to be loved, completely and wholly. No more sadness or less than. I appreciate the effort of the whole family to bring us this art.

    • Yes exactly!! There's very often a solid reason behind why someone might be ungrateful, even if they aren't yet fully concious of what that reason is themselves. Far too many parents weaponise their role as caregivers to demand gratitude and affection from their kids, sometimes after years of inflicted chilhood abuse. If you're truly a good parent and fulfilling your child's needs, they'll almost certainly be grateful to have you. Gratitude comes from feeling loved, supported, listened to, and just generally having your emotional needs met in some kind of way, and if you aren't willing to meet your child's emotional needs as a parent, don't expect your kids to be grateful for you.

  • I have parents like that. It is the most amazing gift and you recognize what a special gift it is while you are growing so you can savor it and glow in their love and wonderful parenting. Then I lost Dad to cancer. It punched a big black hole in my soul that can never be repaired and I struggle to this day to function when I think of him. It doesn’t matter how old you are, if you lose a parent, a good one that did their job and made sure you knew you were loved above all else, it cripples you. And you don’t recover. It doesn’t get easier, you learn to breathe through the pain and keep it off your face. Some days, when it is most acute, I am certain, it would have been better to have never loved at all. And then the guilt rolls in cuz mom is still alive and still loves, but she’s broken too. None of us are the same. So everything is different and your pain is sharper when seeing her pain.

    • it doesn't really add up to me. how can you afford to live in LA, afford IVF, homeschool your children, enroll them in extracurriculars if you're "unemployed actors"?

      @nicole4508@nicole4508 Жыл бұрын
    • @@nicole4508 So you are an expert in LA neighborhoods? Do you live there? Are you a real estate agent? They bought a small, two-bedroom house in Highland Park before it was gentrified. They weren't unemployed actors. They were occasionally employed actors who took on many side jobs to make ends meet, which they did manage to do. They taught them music and home-schooled them. Their extra-curriculars were modest and often paid for by bartering services. (Maggie gave singing lessons to her dance teacher.) You don't listen very well, do you?

  • Interesting content & videos, but let down a little by the speed of the commentator ! It was hard to take in everything at that speed , but was well-presented. I never knew her parents were both famous, too. Nice to know there are also parents out there who are good at balancing support for their children without becoming taking over too much power from them. Love the dynamic between them all ! Seems to be a lot of genuine respect and love there. Love Billie Eilish, she's so incredibly unique.

  • I still LOVE that despite this information being put out there in Billie's documentary that people still assume their parents are the reason because of money and connection. People always want to hate on successful young people but we would have more if parents were more supportive, that's all I'm sayin. They both are fortunate to have such parents but I think we all deserve to be raised in a home where we don't have to worry about the problems our parents are facing.
