Watchmaking Magic! Rolex Yacht-Master II
Have you taken a look inside the Rolex Yacht-Master II? At 44mm, it's not only one of the largest watches made by Rolex. It's also one of the most complicated (second only to the Sky-Dweller).
The gold Yacht-Master 2 (reference 116688) shown on the video houses a 360-component Caliber 4161 movement, which powers this beast of a sports watch, equipped with a regatta timer for yacht racing. The watch also contains the same Ring Command bezel as the Sky-Dweller, but uses it instead to control the timing mechanisms.
Join us in this episode of our Watchmaking Magic series as we perform a complete overhaul on the watch, taking every single piece apart with surgical precision before putting them back together again.
Yuri Lopez from Chrono Sky (see Instagram and website links below), our preferred watchmaker, allowed us to take some breathtaking footage of the entire process.

I haven’t read every comment, but apart from the master watchmaker’s obvious skill and talent, no one has mentioned anything about the manufacture of these micro components! Absolutely awesome micro engineering. The mathematics behind even the ratios of the multiple micro gears is mind blowing! 👍👍
Growing up I always knew Rolex was a great name , now I understand why!

Rest well Erwin 😉

So relaxing to watch a professional at work. Masterclass
Thank you man, really appreciate it!
No it is not relaxing. It is anxiety inducing. How will these parts go back together. Why was it disassembled in the first place.
Unbelievably!
Rolex watch is great, perhaps more people like this and thanks to your talent as a watchmaker so amazing.
One of my favorite Rolex’s. I could watch this guy all day. I find this very relaxing. I wish I had this kind of talent.
Thank you so much for that Logan. Trust me, we have a lot more of this guy coming up! 😉

Fascinating to watch (no pun intended)! Thank you
LOL, I like puns...thanks for watching!

Watch making is really under appreciated. Nobody can imagine the level of effort, compassion and most importantly skill that they put in to get these beautiful masterpieces to the people out there. Not mentioning at the price that even premium, it doesn’t justify the their compassion and dedication
I agree. I work in a certified workshop above a Rolex ad and most watches go back to the customer without a thought, it’s just that bit more rewarding when you get a note or message from a colleague from the customer saying how much they appreciate your work.
compassion? its an inanimate object
Very talented man who reassembled the hundreds of tiny parts of this watch.salute to him
Thank you Shahid.
@@Crmjewelers sir you are indeed a great master.i very appreciate your work.
Nice look inside of the 44 mm Rolex Yacht-Master. I enjoy watching the watchmaker Sky Chrono at work.
Thank you for watching!
Mesmerizing! This is why the watchmaker argument (fine tuning) never dies.
that was so therapeutic I was mesmerized by your work thanks for sharing!
What a fantastic movement
Amazing video. Demonstrates why some watches cost so much. The workmanship is beautiful
Thank you so much for watching Bill. 👍
Not only that but those watches when taken good care of will likely last for over a thousand years.
This is Therapy , it's so .... Relaxing ! 👍😁
Ha Ha, I know the feeling Abel.
Just wondering who would dislike such artistry
Haters are everywhere and the more you succeed, the more they hate, but it's all good. Just focus on the positive 😉
@@Crmjewelers Rolex are just good at marketing lol😂
its so enjoyable watching the disassembly and reassembly of a movement that I knew nothing about, your video was for me the right length and with most relaxing music, 10/10 very well done.
Thank you so much man. This is the kind of content we want to continue bringing our subscribers on our quest to 1M subs!
How beautiful to create a watch! Think about it. You literally creat time!
Literally 👍
I wish Rolex had display case backs. The movement is so pretty to look at, I love their finish quality
Thanks for watching Mark. I don't think we'll get a clear case back from Rolex for quite some time 🤷
Close up, in real life it doesn't look as pretty and luxorious. One reason, the see through back will never come
Although its pretty incredible seeing peoples knowledge on disassembling and reassembling watches. I think im even more blown away by the fact that someone actually invented these in the first place. All those pieces just to make 3 hands move. Wow!
This gives me anxiety how does he disassemble the watch with all those parts and then knows how to Mount everything right
wow fascinating
Thank you very much!
One of my favorite Rolex watches, the Yacht-Master II. Doesn't get enough love by watch enthusiasts.
Ah! What is it made of? Gold? Water tight?
Expertise at it's finest folks! What an amazing technology transformed into an art form! Bravo Rolex!
Thanks for watching man!
Zajęcie na zimowe wieczory🙂
Amazing
Thank you very much.
It never ceases to amaze me the sheer level of precision these pieces have, and the utter minefield of chaos it looks like to take one apart - let alone put it back together.
Oooh I could watch this all day. Loved it. 🙏🏽
Wonderful. If an ordinary person would open such a complex mechanism, would never pack again.
He’s not an ordinary person ?
It's so amazing how this watch maker disassemble the watch and put it back together wow. Well done
Now, I know more my Rolex, thanks for your video!
Lets see a machine do that. Impressive to see such a craftsman at work .
This fantastic work. Thank you sir sharing this video with us 👍🏼
My pleasure. Thank you for watching!
Amazing! Extremely meticulous
Thank you George 👍
I loved!!
I am glad you loved.
I love it when a watchmaker is working on a Rolex so flawlessly and he is rocking a Panerai. Panerai fan here, great job and great choice on your watch
I was offered one of this and I sold it to the prawn shop, that was my best part. I come from a CNC back ground abused in my work place when I see this, it reminds me of my suffering.
TIM Cheou It's still amazing regardless how someone could design something so complex
Nice job 👍
Awesome upload CRM! It really is an art how the components of the timepiece is to put together and how the watchmaker have to carefully pay attention to details. This type of work is truly a honest type of work. It just the watchmaker and the timepiece. 🇨🇦
Thank you Nickel. Yes, this kind of work is amazing to watch. It's more of an art than anything else.

Rolex should make an open case back that’s a nice movement
Didn’t know Rolex made a beautiful movement for this piece!
Funny, the Master watch maker is wearing a Paneri! Exceptional skills and Professionalism!
Lol I noticed that just at the end 😊
Yeah, he's a big Panerai fan.
He cannot afford to buy a Rolex. 😜😁

What is the funny part? Panerai is a good watch. Also people have their own taste and choice.
rolex do so well with their movements. Very technically sound and intuitive.

Watchmaking is an art! Beautiful footage and video!
It definitely is an art. Thank you so much for watching!
sure, but isn't this more like watch repair, I mean, do we praise a car mechanic for making the car?
@@toobalkain you're taking the word "watchmaking" literally. Watchmaking is not just making watches, but also repairing, restoring and servicing watches.
A nice looking movement, why not show it off with an open caseback
@@Jay-xr3sb we gotta complain to AP 😉
The absolute precision and know how of the watch master are amazing. Every pieces inside the watch are much more complex than putting puzzles together. Now, I understand why Rolex es are so so valuable besides their marketing strategies .Low supply with high demand. A state of Art 🎨
It's less complicated than an average modern automatic transmission. The wonder for me is the small size and the manufacturing pedantry. Re the mechanism, it's a bit like Victorian era infrastructure ie great beauty even for a sewer or pumping station.
more like high supply and low demand. no one can afford a rolex lool.
Amazing technology and hand work!
Great job with all the best information and knowledge, that s really incredible
