  • Random Question of the week: What’s something your brain tries to make you do and you have to will yourself not to do it?

    • Jump in every body of water that I see. Cant resist the urge to splash in some puddles on occasion.

  • Can you make a vid with your advice on holding onto the pole after falling from a miss like the last vid? How to land/roll/what not to do. It would be helpful if you have any pointers in case any of us get in that situation. Hopefully it might keep us safer and prevent some injuries haha

  • Could you do a video or do you have a video on turning in the vault? I know me and a ton of other vaulters have a problem were once we get inverted we turn out instead of upwards and don't clear heights because if it.

  • How much does the bottom arm bend during the takeoff? When in the vault should you go from the L position to inverted and with that where is good place to look when trying to go from the L to invert? Also is it ok to bend your top arm right at the point of throwing the pole or is it better to keep it straight through the full vault? Btw thanks for the tip about looking at the box on takeoff because I'm sure I'll get more energy in my pole and fix my takeoff form a lot. Sorry if this comment is a bit long.

    @karlmarks7490@karlmarks74907 жыл бұрын
    • Alright lets try to answer these in order 1. Depends on your style! 2. The L position to invert is one fluid motion. Instead of a swing and a punch to invert, i call it a swunch. 3. I've had luck with myself and other athletes looking at their hand top hand. Pole vaulters seem to love visual and sensation cues. 4. Bending the elbow or pulling on the pole is never a good idea. 5. You're very welcome! Let me know if this helps!

  • Hello. I am from the small town of Shell Lake. My friend and I are going to practice this summer. This was my first year in pole vault. I got to 8 ft. I think it would be really cool if you were able to come to our school this summer. It would probably be just the 2 of us though.

  • What are some good drills to keep the arm straight I have that problem also and don't really know to fix it. It stops my swing and I can't get upside down all the way?

  • I’m not sure if you’ve made one on this already but I’m really struggling to get my hips above my top hand. I’ll be doing a jump and a lot of the times my hands on the pole will be above the bar but I can’t seem to raise my hips up enough like near my head, if that makes sense

  • How much can I fit in 2 weeks, or like what should I focus on before a big comp, I've barely got any training done this year because med school is slowly taking over all my waking hours and the nearest facility is an hour by car (and I can't drive), so I'm stuck till after exams then I have 2 weeks to prepare for an international against the Irish universities. I don't know how far to push training before that to get the most out of it whilst not burning out early in my season. Any and all advice will be appreciated

  • Any resources to get my daughter dabbling with pole vaulting earlier? The local public school doesn't do vault until high school. She is in 3rd grade a wants to do it. She is very athletic for her age. Seems like a long time to wait.

    @evansalmonsen@evansalmonsen7 жыл бұрын
    • Evan Salmonsen go to a local hardware store, lowe's or Home Depot if they're nearby, and a good size is a 10' pvc pipe with 1.25 inches diameter for beginners and 1.5 inch diameter for stronger vaulters
