I love how the scene examines the psychology between David and the creature. We had not seen this since the two part season two premiere of "married.". This best demonstrates the animosity that banner and the hulk have in any adaptation. They hate what the other stands for and yet can't survive without the other.
Hulk hate puny Banner
Bill bixby was such an underrated actor. He was a great man with a beautiful heart. I hope you're resting in peace bill I'm sure you're with our lord Jesus. ✝️🙏🏻❤️
Rip Bill Bixby. Love the hulk TV series. Lou Ferrigno just turned 72 years old and he is still in great shape and muscular. 4:29 mark i wish my arms were that big. Holy crap.😱💪. Thanks for posting this.
That part where he said "it could show you a side of you, you've never seen before" made David give him a look like "trust me, you don't wanna see the other side of me"🤣!
🤣💚
Lmaoo
Right 😅
@@regsamuels.GoNole, for real😂!
I think that the Hulk hallucination, as well as the David hallucination, were actually the connecting to the actual alter-egos, much like when David tried to contain the Hulk under hypnotious. He is actually seeing the Hulk persona as well as when he turns into the Hulk, Hulk is seeing the Banner persona.
Bill Bixby did awesome acting in this scene. But then again he was awesome playing the role of David Banner throughout. The best and never to be topped really.
True fucking story...I thought the same thing
He really was an exceptional actor.
Tell me about it. Remember the episode "mirror image" where he plays a rude and crude gangster who's the splitting image of David.
@@drmattathias EXCEPTIONAL???🤔 WHAT AN INSULT!!!😠 HE WAS ONE OF THE SUPREME ACTORS!!!!👍👍👍
@michaelparylak5649 It's actually Broken Image.
I love the show! This is proof to never leave an open container around anybody!
Kak😢
Is it me or does the Hulk always run down the same dark alley!!
The same alley
Reused film.
“Metamorphosis” is the first Hulk episode since “Married” where Bill and Lou shared the screen together 💚💜💙 2:33-7:29 is when the fun starts
Switch places...
This will be in the top 10 Hulk outs because it shows the complex relationship between David and The Hulk. It shows while they may not be fully separate personalities they each represent something they fear and hate.
It really seemed like the Hulk hated David the way he just went after him. Hulk normally didn’t attack more than once, but here Hulk was out for blood every time he saw his alter ego.
I thought that was really interesting, and wondered if it had something to do with David's self-hatred for not being strong enough to save his wife in the car accident. Because while The Hulk and David can appear to have this sort of "Jekel and Hyde" thing going on, they are ultimately the same person and Hulk is more like an amplified fraction of David's self than a separate person. The Hulk represents Banner's inner strength. That's why he is always still seen as gentle and only attacks when threatened or in the act of protecting someone. His hatred for Banner here stems back to the very first episode and the purpose of his experiment. He hated himself for being unable to save his wife and still does. (Lol sorry for the tedtalk)
@@ayndylou No don't. I enjoy this talk.
I really wished that 78's Hulk would show his savage nature and he would say: "PUNY BANNER!!!!"
Blame the producer. He didn't want the Hulk to speak because he didn't like what he called, "Frankenstein" speech he used. Of course, he also wanted to make the Hulk red instead of green because red is the color of rage. Good thing Stan Lee stood his ground. The producer wanted the show to be more appealing to women rather than comic book fans anyway.
@@MulToyVerseI think it was much better that he didn’t speak.
@@johnb-nd9ch Why is that? I think Lou Ferigno did a just a good job with the Hulk's voice in the 90's animated series as he did when he physically played him in the live action series.
GIVE US A "MR. FIX-IT" MOVIE! The Grey Hulk, at night, in a suit. It fits perfectly into the blip years. Trying to fix the deal with Green Hulk's arm, Banner creates the Grey Hulk. He thinks he heals and cures himself. Except, unknowingly at night, he turns into MR. FIX-IT. Who leaves Banner cryptic messages on the mirror. It's even a story Disney execs want. Have him fight whomever while having to deal with his "mental health." To win, he must meld Banner, Green Hulk and Grey Hulk into the Hulk he is now. It writes itself! GIVE US "MR. FIX-IT"
So, the Hulk fears Banner in the same way as Banner fears the Hulk.
It's not fear of each other but rather a fear of losing control or losing identity and this promotes the hatred they have towards each other because each are vying for existiance, one cannot exist with the other at the same time.
It’s not fear on the Hulk’s part. It’s hatred/resentment. Hulk knows that David would be dead by now,if he didn’t always come out to save him. Yet, David is always trying to cure himself and make the hulk go away.
@@Dhampir101980 yea exactly
David fears the Hulk. Hulk hates David.
I believe David’s desperation of Curing himself is because he had no control over the hulk and the hulk could be very dangerous and very destructive and with such power David had no control and was so in fear of innocent lives that could’ve been killed or harmed even though the hulk has never harm anyone because David would never harm no one but just knowing the fact that you have no control over such force can be very scary which is why David wanted to cure himself immediately
It’s funny…the Hulk obliterates the door at the end of this scene and then somehow runs down the same alley that he did elsewhere in so many episodes. That alley seemed to follow him wherever he went. 😂
You wont like me when I'm hungry.....for chocolate brownies
Nobody notices that David is suddenly gone and Hulk is wearing the same pants as him. Hmmmmmmm
I'd rather get "funked up" on Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk"; while avoiding getting ¢€¥£%d up on drugs! 😂
You get Munchies from Marijuana, not acid. I remember watching this as a young kid on tv, and after seeing Bill Bixby's performance of what a delusional hell it is like to be on acid, I was like " oh no no no no no ! I don't EVER want to try drugs! " Major kudos to your acting skills Mr. Bixby, all young kids should watch this before they are faced with peer pressure to try crap drugs !
I've done acid many times as well as shrooms, and Mescaline. Far better than pot, which always made me paranoid. You don't have hallucinations like this on LSD. Now, I've given up all drugs and don't even drink, but pot is worse, in my opinion.
@@jamesbrice6619I wish you the best of luck, I hope you are still sober and never try it again!
I really like this The hulk fighting himself as David Banner
This is so great! The acting from Bill and Lou is so convincing. Even the goo on his feet was green!
David's tripping hard! 😂😬😵💫
Hulk: Hulk....F%$KED UUUUUUUP!!!!
David Banner must be well angry. To change into the Hulk. Cool.
"Oh no! Detective Sikes, why you spiking Bruce Banner's drink?!"
A little justice for putting drugs in Davids drink 1:57 - 7:04
2:37 is pretty accurate..umm a friend told me.
The hulk looks trippin in this episode!
I haven't seen this in a while but I thought dude spiked his drink just to-play a joke on David, but it was that chick that told him to do it.
Same here! The things that went right over our heads when we were kids watching these shows.
Greg looks like Mick Jagger
That's Gary Graham, in the 90s he went on to play Detective Matthew Sikes in Alien Nation on Fox.
"HULK IS HIGH AS KITE!!"
LOL it's all about 4:03 for me, the "Jackie" and the jaw wiggle 😆
Never, never, dose David Banner on orange sunshine and expect to walk away.
That's sort of cool, haven't seen that episode in a while, maybe I should dust off my Hulk series and start watching them again. Plus it was interesting how much both Banner and the Hulk hated each other. Puny Banner.
The Hulk's difficult second album ...
The one episode to have Charles Napier's growls and stock footage with Ted Cassidy's. Big difference in my opinion!
Hulk is tripping y'all!
"Doctor" David Banner (M.D???) XD. sure gets The Hulk i lots of misadventures The Hulk is even out of place in! He's been a parapalegic, a mental institute escapee, nearly burned to death, drunk, maniacal, and high like here xD. And half-changed in "Prometheiuse".
No matters what town he his when he hulks out in, he always ends up running in that same alley
Get outta there man! Lol
5:15 David smells Hulk's foot 👃 🦶Hahahahaha Lol 😂 Hulk has smelly feet
I always was sooooo scared back in the early 80's but also very fascinated aswell, Bill Bixby was prob also the only one who could make the role of David Banner sooooo convincing and truthfull R.I.P genius
When David sees The Hulk, on his trip, he Hulk's out. When he becomes The Hulk, his trip turns into David.
I figured it was the other way around. David was on a trip that induced a hallucination of the Hulk (which oddly, he's never really seen before). As the Hulk, his trip plays on his hatred of David.
@@wudaddy He obviously has seen the Hulk because he saw a picture of him in the newspaper in one episode
@@GoGodman Very fuzzy photo. He never saw the Hulk live until the final movie (on video).
You don't get high on LSD, you trip. The Hulk was tripping.
Haha, very strong door.
Hulk acid trip.
Hulk gets high 😂
The high hulk seems way more aggressive.
Quite a few episodes had same dark alley 😂☹️
Greg what have you done ✔️ to David
Gr8t Actin By Bix(IMPO)!
Let this be a valuable lesson never use drugs.
Greg looks like if Mick Jagger was a beach boy lmfao
I know, right🤣!? But, the actors name is Gary Graham.
@@CJ_7519 In later years, he would play Det. Matt Sikes on ALIEN NATION and Ambassador Soval on STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE.
@@captmurdock, I remember Alien Nation. I never watched Star Trek: Enterprise, though!
2:44 me: when I tried some meds during bed time
Dr Banner was a scientist. He couldn’t do simple math when he sipped his OJ and started hallucinating?
When David was high he feared the Hulk. When the Hulk was high he wanted to attack David.
The hulk gets high 🤣🤣🤣💚
HULK TRIP MAJOR BALLS NOW!
After David drank that orange juice I went out and immediately brought some Tropicana
Tropicana OJ is my favorite!! 😎👍 Goes perfect with Cheerios!!
The Hulk really did "break through" 😂
I love the psychology of it how it was mentally warfare it was like he was looking in on himself with hulk in the cage hulk wanted out was able to get out reliased how high he is and love how hulk starts to see David banner
Would be cool if it showed grey hulk too
SO when Dr. Banner is scared by looming Hulk, he Hulks out and as Hulk, Dr. Banner is taunting him!
Hulk makes David hulk out lol
Yeah, we may laugh about the unrealistic depiction of drugs here, but you have to remember this was 1979. It's unlikely the networks would have permitted a more nuanced depiction of drugs at all, never mind the at the time The Incredible Hulk went out. If you want to see how it was dealt with in the here in the UK, check out the Doctor Who story "Nightmare Of Eden" (which went out on the BBC two months after this Hulk episode). It's even more ridiculous. But that's where society was back then.
Metamorphices an episode about a rock star who doesn't like the fame and admiration that comes with it guest star Mackenzie Phillips
RIP Gary Graham (Greg)
I know the pill makes you high this man turn into hulk the hulk gets high
7:22 isn't that the same scene that they use in season 1
5:29 they used in Married for the first hulk transformation
They used the alley in several episodes.
Yeah that shot was used numerous times over the show's run
In my opinion, that's "editing" or "splicing."
haha used ssame scene in the boxing one.. i just watched this.. haha saving some money !! lmao
I see Abe from days of our lives
that's the Vulcan dude in star trek Enterprise
One of favorite heroes
It's The Hulk
This hulk action scene is normal speed that’s rare
Lou will always be the best hulk ever 👍👍👍
you think they would notice David,s brown corduroy pants on the Hulk?
I'm surprised no one ever seemed to get this point of "The Incredible Hulk" : No matter how much we like him, David is not as innocent as we like to think.
What do you mean?
🤭😂😂😂 Ficou doidão
Wait was that Donna Martin's mother from Beverley Hill's 90210 - she's young.
Since when does LSD come in pill form? Folks, some of the funnest times I've had are when tripping on LSD. Of the 30+ times I've tripped, I've never had a bad trip
I know what you saying man. I have had bad trips and flashbacks from way back years ago. But for the cheap price for a hit of good acid back in the day you couldn't beat the price. And then trip like crazy. Take care and God bless.
It's probably PCP a.k.a. angel dust, which could be taken orally, and would cause dissociative visions, make you more violent, and if you for example punch your hand bare through a glass window, you might not feel the pain for hours etc.
I dont know anything about LSD. i never needed to use it.
Wow you guys are a bunch of drug addicts LOL
Hulk hates belts! Hulk ditch Banner's belt! Rarrrggghhh!
Of I had any, I'd dose right now
David should have got his own drink for safety reasons.
Why is she dressed like an airline stewardess?
My only question is how can David’s inner psyche and subconscious remember what the Hulk looks like when he can seemingly never remember anything about what happens during his transformations? I guess that question is even more confusing when discussing the opposite effect for this incarnation of the Hulk, who seems to have very little intelligence or memory retention of his own, even when compared to other versions of the character. Is this Hulk even aware of who Banner is?
Yes, this Hulk knows who David is. He’s been a part of David’s psyche since his wife died. It’s made explicitly clear that David has pent up anger right from the beginning of the pilot episode. The Hulk on the show isn’t a separate person, but rather an extension of David. Elaina even says so in the second half of the pilot. That’s why the Hulk reacts when others call him David, and he protects the people that David cares about. He and David are one and the same: David is the intelligence and Hulk is the emotion.
Don’t forget about hulk married series
The Hulk: Puny Banner once did drugs, puny Banner saw things. Bad things! Then Hulk saw bad things, things Hulk didn't like. Listen to Hulk kids, no do drugs.
hulk did drugs
I don't think the Hulk's healing factor would let him get high
David's body doesn't accelerate healing unless he is the Hulk.
@@Kajehart He is the Hulk And he is high
Hulk can heal. David has no control over those abilities.

I wouldn't think that Banner couldn't change into the Hulk if he was high. I mean isn't being high a form of 'rest', and feeling relaxed, 2 things that constitute Banner to stay as Banner?
Yeah but Banner was freaking out
