Wood Turning a Driftwood Log

I found this jagged piece of driftwood at the beach after a big storm. I thought it would be cool to fill in the edges with resin, but I wasn't quite sure how to actually show the uniqueness of the wood. I ended up going with a spouted vase, and the epoxy color is supposed to look like sea glass. I like the color but let me know if you think I should have gone with something else!

  • It’s really neat to witness such skilled craftsmanship at work. To acquire these skills must take years of patience and effort. In an era of computers, AI etc it’s nice to see someone still connecting with the physical world. A lot of value here. Very beautiful piece.

  • Very beautiful. Usually driftwood from the ocean is very hard on your tools because of the silica and minerals that seeps into the wood. Was this an issue here?
