In London 2053, a world champion hoverboarder finds herself imprisoned in a luxury skyscraper apartment by her controlling manager. With the help of a well-meaning stranger she engineers an ingenious high-rise escape but soon finds herself riding for her life.
"FLITE is a film I’ve been eagerly awaiting for much of 2023. Rare is it that a short film trailer drop feels like an event, but, back in May, FLITE got that treatment from the Hollywood Reporter, and in-depth writeups in specialized industry publications soon followed. This is not the norm, but not every short film can claim an Oscar-winning VFX Supervisor as its director, someone whose fingerprints are all over several of the most beloved and acclaimed films of the 21st century.
Tim Webber is that director, and also the Chief Technology Officer of the VFX powerhouse Framestore. The former Oxford Physics student has pioneered some of the approaches we now bundle under the umbrella of “virtual production” in his career, perhaps most notably on the 2013 Alfonso Cuarón film Gravity, and now applies that expertise to his own turn in the director’s chair" - S/W Curator, Jason Sondhi

how much money did it cost to make that ? its pretty long and about time people that are NOT hollywood start making movies and series to watch. Wanna see some real stories and something new and not boring ! Looks like its very much reality that it can be made happen !
The fact it was an original story alone makes it a standout in the current landscape of regurgitated redos and reboots. I would love to see more.
and now hollywood will reboot and redo this.
My thoughts exactlly! Much better written then I would :)
"the current landscape of regurgitated redos and reboots" well tell me you watch nothing but big cheap superheroes movies without tell me you watch nothing but big cheap superheroes movies
It's a short film... Almost every short film is an original story
nah, its based on real story
Netflix needs to sign these guys a deal for a full lenth season. Just imagine what they could do with a larger budget.
I liked that the police jetpack is not just an abstract sci-fi, it is based on a real prototype from Gravity Industries.
And the hoverboard behaves pretty realistically too. Like how it needs to be close to surfaces and seemingly wouldn't work over water.
Holy cow the minor movement of the characters is legit seamless to real life. With some tweaks to the environments and major motor movements I dont think I would be able to tell this from a real camera shooting real life. Insane work for a shortfilm, so happy to have watched this
I can't imagine the amount of work involved! I'd love to see some behind the scenes.
This short film makes me hopeful that Unreal Engine will leapfrog its technology into something so immersive that I can't fathom what it will become years from now.
The same schematics and but different architecture unless you can define what do you mean by technology. Strength of a engine will forever be connected to hardware it runs on.
@@sureshkumar-qw9ny good to know. Thanks for clarification!
Unreal Engine + text/prompting to image AI's is the birth of virtual holodeck style like in Star Trek The Next Generation. (minus the energy to matter part.) We are witnessing the emergence of some very amazing tech.
It can generate a whole planet by 2030, inside is all human players somewhere, just like in the movie Ready Player One.
Yes, but what about the numerous fakes and digital propaganda that follows these technologies
I'm blown away with the fast paced world building, refreshing show-don't-tell approach, blend between suspense, humor, action with heart, plus all those complex perspective shifts... it just all worked and was so effectively pulled off. Score was top notch and characterful by the end. Story was blessedly unpredictable and engrossing. There's so much to like here. Beautiful work, amazing team.
Not only are the visuals impressive, it's great to see a creative storyline that hasn't been done before.
How is this not on love death and robots. Incredible work all around.
Impressive. far better than some major budget movies. as an amputee I am also happy to see the prosthetic leg angle. Its easier to include with CGI, but its still hard to make look believable. :)
The uncanny valley has been bridged--these characters were not 100% realistic, but they were realistic enough to not be creepy-looking. Nice!
Loved the syringe bit. So refreshing to see a protagonist using his brains for once.
This should be required study material for film makers. You’re immediately drawn into the story and invested in the outcome. Its original, organic, and incredibly technical in such a beautiful and thrilling way. I loved it!
I don't know why Chad Muska was holding a sk8trGurl hostage, but it's hard to want to make sense of it all when I'm distracted with just how perfectly her hat stayed in place. It's an Unreal Miracle
I’ve recently noticed the details in my dreams, when I don’t attend to them, look astonishingly like generative AI videos. Makes sense, not memories, but new thoughts without sensory input.
That was an exceptionally well executed short. The soundstage was a pleasure to listen to and the graphics were apot on. Then the story... You know you've got a winner when you want to keep watching and want to know more. Well done to the entire team!
Onlly a small handful of places with jump movements gave away the fact that this was CGI. Quite impressive.
Really good shortie. I like Alba Baptista ever since I saw her in Warrior Nun.
Didn’t think there was anything left of “original”, thought “its” energy was spent. But seeing this marvel … 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Breathless and speechless. Quite an achievement. Bravo.
Wow ❤ Someone needs to make this a feature film, so much potential.
Hear hear!!!
No human beings were hurt in this movie
Finally! An actual movie! Love it, great concept and performances! And of course.. visuals
I think I have just seen the future of films. Brilliant.
Hot damn. I remember seeing some early shots of this short film a year or two ago and was impressed then. But the final product is truly something special.
If you don't make a sequel to this I will be so angry great job
Holy guacamole! That was fantastic! Very well done! P.S. KZhead algo brought me here
I have to ask: Is the footage of Stevie from 2:22 to 3:06 actually CGI or did they use real footage? If it is CGI that's mindblowing.
I totally agree. It says a lot about how good it is that we have to ask if it is CG or real footage.
Wow! Very good. The unreal integration is great. Well done.
This was really cool. I'd love to see more come from it. The only negative was that the POV shots really made it feel like a video game and not a short film.
EXCELLENT world-building. I can't wait for this to be a game or feature. Splendid chase sequences. Have always wanted a hoverboard so this hit home. Stevie already has an iconic Halloween fit, and can see people making their own bionic legs.
That was stunning, captivating, heart wrenching, and everything a story should be! Loved the end. Pulled me out of my seat, wanting more! Now, please continue, ok!
This is a great short film! Want to see more of Alba Baptista on screen
Well-imagined, compelling, emotional story. It's great to see such creative use of the tech.
Very good. Good to see there are people out there that realize the story (and conclusion) are just as important as the effects.
Fantastic short. Please play more like this.
Amazing CGI - the only bit that didn't look real to me was where Stevie fell during practice. Somehow the momentum when she hit the ground seemed wrong.
Lol that's the part that convinced me the whole thing is really CGI, the physics was completely off in that falling animation but overall its incredibly realistic looking character
Wow. Wasn't expecting this to be this interesting and good.. Very original and well made, great story and great execution, great acting too, great transitions. A blockbuster quality all around,, Wow just wow..
That was one of the best movies ive ever seen. Awesome job to you and your team!
That's cool af. Wouldn't it be great if humans could really move that fast and were that resilient.
wow, The city looks amazing. This is one of the best visual I seen
The only plot hole is the jetpack cop taking her away from the bridge when his vehicle was on the bridge. Essential to the escape and entire setup in foreshadow, but maybe a different way to connect the beautiful & exciting bridge scene to the climax. Maybe simple as an audio overlay with the cop saying he’s bringing her directly back Jones, w/Jones expressing victory and threat to Stevie. Gareth needed more lines. 😊. Otherwise no notes. Stunningly good.
Really good, needs a sequel.
Fantastic short. This would make a great feature film. I'm surprised it hasn't received more views and up votes.
wow! just blown away even many big Hollywood movies aren't this good
Truly a perfect mix of action, story, and emotion. Bravo!
What a beautiful piece of storytelling. Kudos ! You kept me entertained and wanting to know the whole way, thank you. The prosthetic had you guessing is the character real or not? Again well done. Scenery is imaginative and believable. The multi story layers are executed beautifully which is what is lacking in ALL the major studios work of late.
I wanted to see a little more of the resolution between Daniel Lawrence Taylor and Genthin Anthony’s characters, and a touch more fleshing out around the narrative, but all-in-all it was a solid short film. Moving plot line, well-paced action beats, smart ‘camera’ work, beautiful visuals. I really enjoyed the end result, hope more people get to see the film.
The song during the credits sounds a lot like "Where Is My Mind'' by the Pixies.
Bravo! This was fantastic. I would pay for a whole uplifting Black Mirror like series with your art.
Wow 🤯 it totally exceeded all my expectations in the best possible way. We need to have this made into a full length feature film, it's bound to knock it out of the park, no doubt 👍
We humans are capable of greatness.
Fabulous CG, art, and script, thank you very much.
Totally badass. Unfortunately as it is with all of these cool shorts we get from different companies, this is the last we will see about it. They never follow them up. Too bad
Wow, what a piece of wonderful work!
Simple yet translusive in mystery Sci fi Oh! and the credits song is a electro remix of where is my mind which I'm a sucker for
I need more. This was way too good!!! MORE
achievement unlocked: let's make a story that really shows off what this things can do
Wow. This is absolutely fantastic!
BRAVO Tim! Outstanding work! Im flabbergasted.
*It's PERFECT! Everything right down to the last minute detail!*
I saw this on cinema screen at Sydney sci fi festival was very impressive. My short film STARSHIP won best animation at that festival... :)
I've watched it. Well done..
@@reezlaw thanks!
VERY GOOD and very realistic, not just in visual quality but also in story line. Maybe just a little TOO realistic! want *MORE* !!!!!
What a blast - An ORIGINAL IDEA!
Dude this was awesome. Bravo!!! ❤❤❤ 👏👏👏👏
This was stunning. Well done. Great story and well told. Felt very Black Mirror. Great job. Wow.
This needs to be a game. AAA title for sure.
This is absolutely incredible! This needs to be a full length feature film!! I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish! How long did it take to make?!! You must make this into a full length film!!
Corridor Crew looked at some of these scenes a while back. Seriously amazing what can be done on a high-end home computer nowadays.
I thought this looked familliar!
Where’s the video?

This is absolutely amazing... Well done team. Make this a full feature
As we all where, I got sucked into the story and realistic visuals. This made me question myself where the characters real or cgi? Amazing work ❤
Super impressive and very well told! I'd love to see more of this world.
I’m waiting for Part 2 now!! 👏🏼💯🎯
I loved this. Some of the people movements were too video gamie but soo much was enjoyable. Reminded me of the final fantasy movie that went to theaters video gamie. ❤ 8 out of 10
Killer...and everyone didn't die at the end like in most modern day sci fi
Very interesting. I'm wondering when the CGI would reach the level where people and things actually have weight.
I'm blown away. I want more!
Really well done. Excellent CG work. Great cinematography. Great acting. Loved it.
Very well made short movie... amazing! Loved it.
Absolutely impressing - love it!
Amazing work! Can't wait for the suite!
Very cool piece! I'd love a whole movie
This is truly inspiring and an excellent imaginative story an brilliant production, bloody well done
Better than Marvel. A little bit Silver Surfer perhaps!
Blown away! 1st class story telling + visuals ✨🤟
short films go crazyyyyyyy
Wow, that was an awesome ride! I hope there is a continuation of this. Great work!
Does this mean that somewhere there's a full 3D model of Alba Baptista?
That was fckin’ sick!
I love Alba Baptista.
Who else here thought, their phone was vibrating and reached for it like i did? 😂 Only to find out that it was just the video. 😂
Ok, you've got me emotionally invested now. This was excellent. And that guys apartment was SICK AS FUUUUUUU**......!!!
movie worthy - I hope you make it and it will do well. very beautiful and compelling
This was really good!!!❤
Holy shit i was speechless after watching. Soo good!
Very nice! Great work!
Focken Brilliant.
Really fantastic!!! Kudos!
Whats the timeframe for when actual gameplay will look like this?
