In this video I use a section from a large gnarly root ball and turn a Phoenix Egg !! After trimming the piece down I cast it in epoxy resin coloured with mica powders to hopefully resemble fire ...

I can't even think of a purpose for this egg. Yet I really want one and would probably pay good money for it. Just so I could spend my time staring at the thing. This is a very beautiful work, you should be proud.
i want to buy it..
That is literally the very use of decorations.
I’m pretty sure it’s decorative
I can think of one purpose of this.... Trow these thing to annoying people. XD JK. This is a wonderful decoration!!
I just want to hug it when I sleep

He did cut it just for that
Let's see if I got this straight. The recipe goes like this. Take one piece of gnarly wood, add colored epoxy that would make a sunset jealous. Put in pressure cooker. When solid turn on lath to bring egg in being. And when finished take pride in something that would put Dumbledore 's magic to shame.
So *that's* where Dumbledore got Fawkes.

It's really satisfying watching it morph from a prickly root to a smooth egg.

That was truely amazing sir! I've ran lathes for different manufacturing industries but have worked mostly with various grades of steel. Watching you work all of that with hand tools and a guide bar was really amazing. Also the colors and shine on your finished artwork...it looks like hand blown glass. Thank you for the share
Cheers, thanks 👍
I have no use for such a thing, but I really want it.

Beautiful work!
Lol 😂🤣😹
Well that or from a Phoenix dying
Think of it this way. What do trees and Phoenixes have in common? They burn, but their ashes can contribute to the birth of a new one of each.
Everyone: love to see the carving happen on that epoxy. Me, an intellectual: WHEE SILLY STRING

have you ever thought of making the Resin translucent and installing LED's into it to turn it into a sort of lamp? metallic colored yet clear enough for light to travel through it. i imagine you could make some pretty wicked Lamp pieces like that.
Would love to see it
Gorgeous! I love how the different colors kinda but not really mix together to make that swirly almost moving lava look. Very creative!
When I watch his videos, I find myself saying; “Stop! It’s perfect the way it is.” But he always keeps going and proves me wrong.

Comment #2. My wife and I like walking in woods and along small and large lake shores. We are now going to start collecting interesting pieces of wood and especislly driftwood and put my presently very dusty hobby lathe back to work.

I usually do not like the unnatural colors added to the acrylic, but this is brilliant. You have an artist’s sense of balance and a view to possible results based on imagination as well as experience. Brilliant.
Andy, you are an amazing artist. You're insanely creative and your skills are not of this world.
The only thing a.d.d people can watch without twitlin their thumbs is this cus your the best KZheadr out there
Andy. i dont think in all my 75 years i have seen anything more beautiful or such talent.
The egg itself is a nice shape, but those colors just pop so well. Beautiful.
Ok, where does this guy get these crazy looking roots from? I mean, it's freakin' insane. 😯
Walmart
nature I think you'd like it
From the woods. It’s basically a tree roots
He probably has a deal with a lumber yard or mill: those places where they convert tree trunks into even sized planks of wood. They don't use the roots/burls, so he probably buys them in bulk for cheap.
If you go near water or a swamp and a lot of the trees are falling over and they're rotting you'll find all kinds of root structures even find some along Old fence bottoms Farmer's property or banded land all kinds of them and just got to look at in the country
It looked like he was pouring in caramel and raspberry sauce. I love the swirling effects they produced.
this person spends his time in the forest finding the most weird pieces of wood to make magnificent objects from them. And very relaxing video. Thank you. :)
Awwww! 1. Wood turning has never been so sarisfying 2. THE PHOENIX EGG IS SO CUTE!
Anyone else hit the like button before the video starts just because all these videos are just so good?
It's pretty. Wish I could make something like that. But I get distracted easily, get side tracked, or just get bored. Would probably loose a finger or two. Good work Andy as usual. And I do have a problem of getting stuff on my hands if that much resin got on me id be like Oh no its eating me. Or id get fascinated with watching the resin and dust pile up id end up with no art just a pile of wood dust and resin strings.... That's for me right? 😜
Almost 11 million views...holy cow! Well I know why I'M a subscriber. No one mixes resin colors like you. Your risen sometimes looks like fire. This egg is gorgeous.
What Michaelangelo did to marble is what you do to wood. It is not only beautiful, but watching you make it is astonishing!!
Δημιουργικό μυαλό , μαγικά χέρια , απίστευτο αποτέλεσμα. Μπράβο !!
There's something very satisfying about watching good craftsmanship.
true
Yet, another piece showcasing u r craft/talent!! Great color, great shape & anyone with any sense, would love to have this in their home for sure!! So, relaxing 2 sit & watch u perform wonders!! Thanks.
That phoenix egg looks really beautiful, but it also looks really heavy. That phoenix egg is going to protect you when an intruder comes in the building ‘cause all you have to do is chuck it at them & K.O.! They’re down. XD I do think that it is very beautiful & you did a good job. Keep up the good work.
These are so relaxing to watch. It's amazing what he can do with a piece of wood..
Who had the audacity to dislike this? Keep up the good work, I’m addicted to these videos!!
So satisfying to watch! I especially like the "smoothening and shining" processes!
You were the first wood turning I ever saw. You've started a love of watched videos.
Why are these so easy to watch, I've seen like 6 in a row
Just 6. Those are rookie numbers
We need a 10 hour compilation
Just goes to show that there are still true craftsmen left in the world. This is a prime example of true artistry and craftsmanship. Not everything needs to be 3d printed or made by some knock off company in China. I greatly admire your work sir.
Bryan Kerbow you clearly have no idea about handcrafted products from China. Some really amazing stuff is made there by craftsmen like this one here. But yeah fuck 3D Printing lol
Why is 3d printing bad?
@@leusam6358 bc it is a machine creating something. Therefore taking the human out of the process
Bryan Kerbow I see where you are coming from, but people are still in the process, just in design and planning. You could argue that a lathe like this takes the human out of the process as well, due to people having foot powered lathes in the past
@@alextuszynski2083 I see your point however a lathe is a lathe regardless of the way in which its powered. An electric lathe allows for far more detail bc the user isnt having to exude any extra energy to power it. And it spins at a more consistent rate
Anyone else see the beauty in that hunk of dry wood?! WOW. If I know my scrawny wrists - I'd get into woodturning and the bit I'm shaving with would go flying !!
It’s amazing what you can see inside these blocks of wood, and beautiful what you turn out. It really looks like flames encapsulated. Thanks for sharing.
From all the resin/wood turning objects/videos, this is the best. Love the end result, super cool looking egg.
Brilliant! I love the idea of a Phoenix egg and the way you created this. Beautiful piece of work!
That resin actually looks like fire. It's awesome! 😲❤️
This piece is absolutely gorgeous! I love that finish also. So beautiful. Talented guy!! Amazing job! Bravo!

If I could just hold that precious egg, such a beautiful piece. Wow!!
At the. beginning I was a bit upset that you were cutting so much off the root ball. At the end all I could think of was how big that bird must be to lay an egg like that. And what a magnificent egg it is!!!
Yeah, that could have been cool. But first he would have to find a lathe big enough to turn it untrimmed and then be careful that it doesn't shatter to pieces and kill everyone in a three-block radius when he starts cutting.
Please, why would YOU be upset? HE is the Artist/Craftsman. His Video. His Plan. His Tools. His Shop. His beautiful Artwork.
@@martinjcamp Oh dear, I think you must have misinterpreted my use of the word 'upset'. It was meant in the sense of being mildly disappointed that so much of the crazy rootball was being cut away. It does not mean annoyed with him or as any sort of criticism. As you say, he is the artist and all artistic choices are his. I love all of his work, as my comments on his previous vids clearly show.
Oh but if it was Star Wars 9 you can say that the amazing wonder rey pop this out of her pussy and gave it force powers and shit..... remember she's the greatest thing since sliced white bread and defeated the former emperor with no fucking training or sacrifice....

The most beautiful wood and epoxy piece I’ve ever seen. Bravo!
I so enjoy seeing your work, I can't make that, but I too can look at something in the woods and make something out of it. Your gift is appreciated.

I think watching the little strings that fling out, is my favorite part of the video that and seeing how cool it looks at the end.
Just beautiful. A wonderful piece of art from a person with a natural gift.
You have such talent, watching this really helps my mental health so thank you!
I love these videos. They’re very soothing, and I love watching the talent it takes to turn a hunk of wood into something stunning. You’re amazing!!!

That is" breath taking" best creation I've seen in years. The egg appears to have captured an instant in the motion and interaction between wood, fire and time. "I love it"
The coloring is gorgeous; you can imagine there’s a little creature in there breathing a bit of fire as it sleeps.
I think you confused a phoenix with a dragon
Pyro Raven I said ‘a creature’. Thus, it leaves it up to the reader to decide what sort of creature is sleeping in that egg. One mustn’t always be so literal...

Oh Andy, U almost broke my heart when u started breaking the drift wood or tree trunk rooted piece apart... not sure which it was, but seeing the final piece...well, it's just beautiful. I loved all the different shades of wood that come out in wood turning, that's my favorite part in a final piece. It's like looking at the trees history and what it went thru to survive so long. It's incredible . Thanks for sharing. Ignore the negative people who gave a thumbs down. Oh, I would love to see them try to do what you did. Blessings to you, L :)
