In this video I use a section from a large gnarly root ball and turn a Phoenix Egg !! After trimming the piece down I cast it in epoxy resin coloured with mica powders to hopefully resemble fire ...

  • I can't even think of a purpose for this egg. Yet I really want one and would probably pay good money for it. Just so I could spend my time staring at the thing. This is a very beautiful work, you should be proud.

  • Let's see if I got this straight. The recipe goes like this. Take one piece of gnarly wood, add colored epoxy that would make a sunset jealous. Put in pressure cooker. When solid turn on lath to bring egg in being. And when finished take pride in something that would put Dumbledore 's magic to shame.

  • Oh Andy, U almost broke my heart when u started breaking the drift wood or tree trunk rooted piece apart... not sure which it was, but seeing the final piece...well, it's just beautiful. I loved all the different shades of wood that come out in wood turning, that's my favorite part in a final piece. It's like looking at the trees history and what it went thru to survive so long. It's incredible . Thanks for sharing. Ignore the negative people who gave a thumbs down. Oh, I would love to see them try to do what you did. Blessings to you, L :)
