This is the Dave Castro podcast I have been waiting for since 2013.
I literally thought the same thing
Castro was ST6/DEVGRU and doesn’t talk about it. Respect.
The humility of Dave Castro is just overwhelming. Not many people can say they are former SEALs and Crossfit key figure, yet Dave is keeping humble appearance.
Not me, I don’t know or care about dave. I’m just walking in circles changing trash at work.) But I’ll listen anyway.
He was in DEVGRU as well…!
Would be sweet to have Josh Bridges on soon following this Crossfit podcast
Jocko thank you for being Jocko
No problem Justin. Hard work pays off. All the best.
@@raydawg2115 😂 😂 “good Justin”
😂😂😂😂
Love Dave. His contributions to CrossFit have changed my life. Forever grateful
I never get tired of Jocko telling the story of how he thought he was going to "Nam".
The big mish
the "big mish"
I've shot rifle competitions with Dave. He's a super chill, cool dude.
Dave Castro, the Godfather of CrossFit!
For a kid beginning college to be that mature "I don't want to be 30 and regret not doing this". Man at 20 I couldn't decide what trash bags to buy.
I wish I realized at 20 just how young 30 is still lol. I used to think your life was over. Tbh my late 20’s and early 30’s so far have been so much better than my early 20’s. All you’ve got at that age is opportunity. Which can dictate the course of your life. But that’s all you’ve got lol. You’re most likely dirt poor and you don’t have much else. 😂
I’m convinced Dave is a genius. His maniacal ability to run the CrossFit games (programming, athlete management, logistics, everything), I don’t think many people who could handle that demand for that many years to the level Dave could. The Games were the games because of Dave. Dude is a legend
Dave is awesome. Sat in a meeting with him and it was interesting to watch him listen to others and answer so calculated. He seems to always know what he’s saying and WHY he’s saying it.
Had no idea Dave was a Seal until this podcast!
He was ST6/DEVGRU - doesn’t talk about it.
Much respect for Dave. 10 years of CrossFit for me and my family has made all the difference. Such a great conversation. Thanks, Jocko, Echo, and of course, Dave.
Waiting to hear Echo break down his bicep workout!
🤣
I always listen to Jocko on Spotify, but had to catch this on on YT. CrossFit and Jocko Fuel is a great partnership!
All the haters not even realizing Jocko owns a CrossFit affiliate lol. It never fails at how cringe some of the CrossFit hate comments are. Average people commenting negatively on people way more fit than them. Can’t believe this is still a thing.
I agree. CrossFit isn't for me but I have big respect for the sport and the athletes.
I am a coach at my box in Fairfax va and have been there since 08. Between our two gyms, we have well over 300 people. I’d say and overwhelming majority of them are average Joes who work very hard There is a major misconception that CrossFit is for and composed of meatheads. This hasn’t been true for a very long time. And CrossFit could not survive and/or grown catering only to meatheads The challenge is welcoming everyone while still having an intense working program. Teach all of our newer customers to get better via a blueprint/flight plan to improve technique in all movements
Like he said in the podcast... If you're an accomplished athlete, or have hit some pinnacle in fitness, then we welcome your opinion. But if you're in half ass shape and can't even do the exercises, then you are no authority to comment.
Dave Castro is a legend
Dave castro respect to you man what you have build (the crossfit community) is insane
One of my dreams was to get shredded like a spartan frommthe movie 300. It started almost 2 years ago, lost over 50lbs and im very happy with my progress and im almost there. The biggest piece was getting my mind there, anything great is going to be super hard. Have to accept it and dedicate yourself to it.
Do you have the workouts they did that MT posted?
Fantastic piece. Great insight on Dave as a professional and person. I have a huge amount of respect for him and can appreciate him even more now with the details provided in this interview.
Jocko thank you for not being someone else
You gotta get Josh Bridges on. I’m surprised you haven’t yet considering he worked under you in the teams
Awesome conversation. Happy to be c spectator. Feels more like a convo than an interview. Enjoyable
Right its really enjoyable.
Brother Dave! Awesome show. Thanks Jocko!!!
Mad respect for these two gentlemen.
Dope episode. Love how Dave goes his own path and can talk about it so openly with Jocko and Jocko so respectfully respects it. These men show the importance of being able to pave your own way and be respectful of others.
It's important to remember that everyone's journey is unique and it's essential to respect each other's paths. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
@@Hustle360 Amen to that. Cheers mate 🍻
Finishing this podcast assembling my new AirDyne! #Getsome
Jocko is the man. Thanks for being so willing to share all of your lessons learned. So glad they weren’t lost with silence
Love this! Had no idea 10 minutes in we were headed to climbing and alpenism. This is going to be great!!
Thank u 4 a heads up can't wait to hear, I always read 1st to see what it's about
Great episode, guys! I've always liked Dave - classy, humble individual. I greatly appreciate his style and I'm glad he's back in the mix at Crossfit. He belongs there. ✌🏼
Amazing episode!! Funny he lumps Goggins and Jocko together as both media seals. Time for Goggins to be on…..
All people want to get better than other people- that's truth
Amazing show guys! Thanks.
Hell yes! Can't wait to listen to this!
Crossfit changed my life. Dave Castro played an essential part in spreading its message to the world.
I love Jocko’s take on CrossFit. While I do not belong to a “box”, I do incorporate CrossFit in my training regiment. At 58, there are certain movements I cannot do with a barbell due to mobility issues, but I can do them with kettlebells. Great podcast!
Hard work pays off. You can’t escape that.
Great Dave Castro interview, thanks Jocko
John Dutton said it best in regards to hand to hand combat, "It's not a move, I'm just meaner than you"
Hitting someone in the head with a bottle in broad daylight in an office is something i’d attribute with a drunk or a crackhead with no self control
I wish you had asked him about his leadership style and approach when it comes to the Games and leading all those high level athletes. I imagine there are a lot of egos and it’s an ultra competitive environment- but watching the behind the scenes videos on the games- I was always impressed with how easily Dave took charge. And he’s not even that big of a guy lol. For this guy to not be intimidated in front of all those athletes is impressive.
Monterey! That’s my neck of the woods. Being a climber myself and being familiar with Mark Twight, it’s cool to hear about Dave’s climbing and experience with Mark. Also, just like Jiu Jitsu, this episode is awesome.
Love your format Jocko
I have been to the York Barbell Co. and seen their museum and employee workout center. Wow!
Longtime crossfitter…Castro is the fucking man.
Ha, I ordered Bob Hoffman's protein powder in a box back in 1975. Came in the mail. Read Strength & Health and Muscular Development magazine. There was a power struggle between between Hoffman & Weider for some years. The 3 volume set of "Bodybuilding: Smoke and Mirrors" is an excellent read. About 1000 pages of history and inside baseball. Will have to listen to this later.
It's always interesting to learn more about the history of bodybuilding and the industry behind it. The conversation between Jocko and Bob Hoffman sounds like it will be a great listen for anyone interested in the sport.
Love the videos !!
Another great episode!! My dad used to build relationships with the garbageman by giving them shots of whiskey when he had stinky fish in the cans 😂
Love CrossFit
Castro for President!
Echo doesn't spend much time in forums because he is in the gym working on them forearms! Great PodCast!
Great episode.
Great episode
The way Sevan ripped on this last night I wasn't sure this was going to be any good ....this was awesome to hear Castro open up a bit ...couple of good dudes
Sevan is a hater unless he’s center of attention.
I like Sevan. That podcast he used to do with Bridges and Fraser really exposed how much of a douche Matt is
Which episode did Sevan talk about it?
TDC is the man
I'm still new to jiu jitsu....about 90 days in....when I find myself in a scramble. I see The legs as easy targets...
*Jocko Willink is the Reluctant Leader we need.* .....We know you've done enough, but your Nation needs you. 🇺🇸 *2024* 🦅
Dave said he respected both yoga and body building for health.
Glad someone’s calling out jocko
As a working "road" Paramedic, I see. . . especially in my industry that men are growing weaker. And it is to the detriment on the individuals. I'm not saying that I'm the perfect physical specimen, but at 56 y/o I am WAY mor fit than most of our staf that are less than half my age. . . . SICK! Thanks for this podcast!
Paramedics aren’t really the most in shape ppl in the world. Feel like most of the ones I see are chubby
Jocko!!! I have a jiu jitsu question!.....what are your opinions on knee bars...they are a great move....but I feel like they don't hurt until the leg breaks....which is a reason I don't do them on my training partners....and wont....I have questions though.
Right on my Birthday, hey thanks :D
I loved your song yesterday 🎉 Can’t wait for this stream Brother More Vietnam stories please 🙏
We need Dave and Josh Bridges on
Great podcast
CrossFit guy calls Jocko a “Pop Seal” haha
That’s a navy seal instructor, fool!
Been waiting for this
Playing a song with Jocko is my dream, and I will...
That's a great dream to have! Who knows, maybe one day it will become a reality.
@1:25:00 Life lesson. Be nice to the guy taking out the trash. You might not know his real backstory.
Strength training is not combative. Violence is a distraction. The strongest people outsmart the bar.
Hell yeah
Get Josh Bridges on here Jocko!
Act of valor was originally a commercial for SWCC by the bandito brothers.
Bro what you guys do help us all and there stories should be told#dowork
I can’t picture Jocko weighing 160 lbs. I think his hands weigh 20 lbs each.
Wow… I’m only 23 minutes in and when he said I don’t wanna be 30 n saying at one point….. I am 30 years old. I say that same thing to myself ALL the time I should have joined and I wonder if I could have been a green beret. Biggest regret of my life is not joining the army to become a green beret/ranger. Now I have a family and a decent career in the oilfield. Don’t regret that. BUT it’s something I have to live with and push out of my mind everyday.
Now all y’all younger folks out there. If you have that itch to join… do it before you settle down. Travel, do all the things. Now I’m not saying my life is bad nor do I regret starting my family at the very young age of 20 because I made it work and still with my wife today. But that is the ONE thing I wish I could have done differently. We all know God works in mysterious ways and apparently that just wasn’t in my deck of cards. Y’all god bless and to all of our men n women serving this great nation.. THANK YOU!
I've thought about it but I'm almost done with my degree in business management. I could be an officer but is it worth it? I dont know yet still figuring it out. Glad everything still worked out for you though!
Clarification 1st responder is the Briefing not some nurse with alcohol swabs

Parachute o.o 🤨 I don't know a car with magnate breaks or free fall? Glide?

The Grey Man (The Middle of the Pack)
Excuse me....Jocko was 174 in BUD/S? Damn
This dude really exposes jocko as a meathead pop seal
Jocko will be around long after the others have fizzled out. He has a lot to bring to the table in every respect, and has phenomenal returns on his efforts.
Not really lol. He’s written a handful of books and owns a bunch of successful businesses
Dude just run for the presidency already!
Best
Andy stumpf must know this guy. He worked for CF after the Navy, correct?
Yea Andy talked about working for CF.
Correct they worked together for CrossFit.
I don't see any of your kids here Jocko. Hey , enjoy the summer.
Good episode but Thorne has better protein and daily greens. Do the research.
Has Jocko covered the battle of the bulge ? Which podcast number?

I rememore the last ww bom hoffman
Believe it or not Same. Big Same to that title. When my body was destroyed by insurgents I had to use my brain for survival. Now I try to find non physical ways to boost my destroyed mortal shell. Still near death and experiencing organ failure and excruciating bone and joint pain though.
Hey man thanks for your service. Hang your head high be proud. You've made it this far keep fighting. I had a double organ transplant kidney/ pancreas. Things probably suck now but there are better days ahead. In tough times I had to tell myself tomorrow's a new day... just fight for tomorrow. I'll throw a prayer up for ya tonight that God will fill you with peace and strength!
@@jogo7973 I have not served conventionally speaking. But thank you for your positivity and I'm glad to hear you were able to get the care you needed to keep you in the ring of life brother.
Thanks all the same. Always stay in the fight brother, you got this...
@@jogo7973 of course man. We got this. Each day a new battle to win on the path to restore ourselves and America. God bless dude take care and stay strong
So he’s gonna jump up and grab a missile. We’re all safe people,go back asleep 😂he does crossfit
Thats why I lift MF!
You can be a quiet professional to the point that your career field just ceases to exist or is so short-manned that it's silly. When you need new people in the career field nobody will show up for training if they don't even know about you.
Was dave afraid of Jocko in this episode?
I want to know what Jocko really thinks about what is happening in our country. With the military our corrupt government all of the crazy lgbtq stuff. He is very careful about what he says.
I mean… he does lol. He talks about the culture in America all the time
@@BostonsF1nest I guess I have never heard it.
