    • I wish I realized at 20 just how young 30 is still lol. I used to think your life was over. Tbh my late 20’s and early 30’s so far have been so much better than my early 20’s. All you’ve got at that age is opportunity. Which can dictate the course of your life. But that’s all you’ve got lol. You’re most likely dirt poor and you don’t have much else. 😂

  • I’m convinced Dave is a genius. His maniacal ability to run the CrossFit games (programming, athlete management, logistics, everything), I don’t think many people who could handle that demand for that many years to the level Dave could. The Games were the games because of Dave. Dude is a legend

    • I am a coach at my box in Fairfax va and have been there since 08. Between our two gyms, we have well over 300 people. I’d say and overwhelming majority of them are average Joes who work very hard There is a major misconception that CrossFit is for and composed of meatheads. This hasn’t been true for a very long time. And CrossFit could not survive and/or grown catering only to meatheads The challenge is welcoming everyone while still having an intense working program. Teach all of our newer customers to get better via a blueprint/flight plan to improve technique in all movements

I imagine there are a lot of egos and it’s an ultra competitive environment- but watching the behind the scenes videos on the games- I was always impressed with how easily Dave took charge. And he’s not even that big of a guy lol. For this guy to not be intimidated in front of all those athletes is impressive.

There was a power struggle between between Hoffman & Weider for some years. The 3 volume set of "Bodybuilding: Smoke and Mirrors" is an excellent read. About 1000 pages of history and inside baseball. Will have to listen to this later.
