The 2021 US Open main draw runs from August 30 - September 12 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

    • I feel that being a one hander is causing him troubles... Infact any player with one handed backhand bogs down at crucial points coz of their backhand... We have seen this for roger as well but he had an excellent serve and forehand to dictate the points... Also gets far too angry and emotional - it doesn't work for him like it used to for someone like Ivanisevic. • Shapovalov's game is too reliant on mood and timing. When they're not on, he has no plan B. Unfortunately, inconsistent results are something of the norm for him and Wimbledon was something of the exception - let's not forget too that he hit some spectacular errors on key points in that match against Djokovic. His game is so fragile that if he isn't totally on form it can really break down at any moment.

  • Shapo doesn't believe in the backhand like Wawrinka does, if Wawrinka see's an opening he goes for it, same with Thiem he goes for it too that's why both of them have beaten Djokovic at Grand Slams. Shapo and Tsitsipas need to practice their straight backhand down the line, its a major weapon against the two handed players. This was impressive by Lloyd Harris, the US Open is creating some real shocks this year, the crowd has a lot to do with the inspiration the players feel.

  • Playing against Harris must be like playing against Wilander or Djokovic. Harris is cool, collected, and not afraid of going for 30 strokes to earn a point. He can attack, but he is also comfortable dragging out the points and let you beat yourself. I blame El Shapo's coaching staff for not adequately preparing him for Harris. Properly prepping Fed is something Fed's team does phenomenally well - something they don't get enough recognition for. I predict El Shapo will part ways with Youzhny by the end of the season. Youzhny clearly has a positive effect on Shapo, but Shapo might need additional guidance for the next level.
