    • Just look at the first 1.5 minutes, it's some bizarre game now, void of strategy, placement, touch, s/v, its all speed and watch the ball, move over, next, high tech rackets and strings that are doing most of the work, thus permitting players with less skills than the players from the 80's and early 90's to be able to compete, and what person in the audience wants to watch this, fast serve, point over, move over, fast serve, point over, move over. Standing 10 feet behind the baseline is wimpy, where is taking the ball on the rise, inside the baseline, it's gone. There are 13 year old's weighing 100 pounds today that are serving in excess of 100mph, haha, the game is ruined, you can't mess with a game like tennis, there is no room, the court is very small, golf is the same with allowing new tech equipment, , the only two sports that allowed the change in equipment, what a shame, the audience doesn't even know what tennis is.

    • @@TimTheMusicMan - You do make very valid points. The racquet & strings have changed the game significantly. There probably should be some change to the dimensions of the court , especially for men's tennis. However, I must contest your assertion that skills have diminished, quite the contrary the skill levels of the modern era dwarfs the previous generation. Make no mistake, these modern players even with wooden racquets will demolish them.

    • @@cloudsmith7803 As the technology used (rackets strings) becomes ever more advantageous to use as a weapon, the requirements of the user become less, as the technology carries the user for them, therefore it becomes a handicap for the user. When the user applies this advantage, they are performing at a certain level, due to the application of the technology. It's like someone in a self driving car traversing around a race course, they are simply sitting and the technology is getting them around the course, a golfer uses a new tech driver and drives the ball 250 yards, birdies the hole, hand him a wood driver and he drives 180 yards, bogies the hole, a college baseball player uses an advanced composite bat and hits a 450 foot homer, using wood in the MLB, the ball travels 370 feet and is caught for an out. These are all facts, the players you are seeing in tennis now, would not be this level using the original technology, the technology is assisting them, Tennis is ruined due to this, Golf is less so as golf is 7,000 yards, where tennis is a mere 82 feet long, this is the stat that separates tennis from other sports, it's an extremely small surface, you can't mess with this surface, tennis sold out to the manufacturers and marketing companies.

  • This is a great angle. I wish they showed this angle on tv, but if they do, I wish that they would give you the choice of which side of the court to watch. So you can see the player you want, or you can see the one serving or receiving etc. They should offer all 3 views just for variety sake. They probably already got all the cameras in those positions already anyway, so why not. Especially if it's steamed online and you can easily set up multiple concurrent streams unlike cable, pay per view channel or something like that where they license and show only one broadcast.

  • I would implore anyone who wants to see the best men’s and women’s tennis players in the world to make their way to Cincinnati a couple of weeks before the US Open. As a native of Cincinnati who attended this tournament 40-50 times, and played jr and collegiate matches there, it’s a tournament that is incredibly fan friendly and a great experience for the entire family. Entire areas are dedicated to family friendly activities, yet they also cater to the adult, with wine tastings and theme parties. Kings Island, world famous amusement park, is directly across the street. I swear, I don’t work for them. *one other super cool thing to do; Qualifiers take place a week before, and the grounds are relatively empty. You can sit wherever you want, it’s totally laid back, and you’re right on top of the players.

I noticed they both launch with their legs apart....Why is it that taller players like Zverev and Kyrgios launch with their feet placed together when they serve? Personally, I feel jumping with feet together puts less stress on the knees and gives more stability and power when jumping towards the ball.

  • Nobody has ever called a double handed backhand elegant or beautiful. It's one of the reasons Federer stands apart as one of the most, if not the most, graceful players of all time. A two-handed back-hand looks like you are using the racquet as a club. It's also really an off-hand assisted forehand so that the player actually has two forehands and no backhand. I really admired Bjorn Borg as a kid but it was more than way he handled himself on court. He was different in many ways but I wish he never popularised the two-handed backhand. When he did it, the two fisted backhand was still uncommon, now the majority of kids are taught this as the "normal" backhand because many of them lack the strength and timing to consistently hit a one-handed backhand.
