(With ur boyfriend 😂) U dont agree because its not ur beliefs. But its good to learn 😊 Muslims are generally very hospitable people and generous. As another note Ramadan is not about food. Its been greatly emphasized even in Australia with the lakemba ramadan markets and in liverpool. But the idea of ramadan is to connect back to God and reset, re learn ur religion and to have a good connection to it 😊 i hope that helps. Fasting helps u too focus on what God has asked of you. And not be distracted by worldlt things. I hope thats helpful.

  • Sumatran Coffee is the most well known coffee from Indonesia in the western world, however it's not the "Best" we have, it's the quirkiest. due to the natural processing it often described to be heavy, woody, and earthy. and the coffee you get from the traditional sellers would't be the best example to enjoy it just because "it would not be palatable for westerners". and it's not just sumatra, across Indonesia traditionally we don't enjoy coffee with all the modern coffee fuss. we roasted the beans almost to a charcoal, and we adds sugar (in jogja, people literally add wood charcoal lol). anyway, if you wanna experience all the subtlety of Indonesian coffess, try modern or upscale coffee places. and try beans below - washed/semi washed(just for fun) Aceh gayo - washed Bali Kintamani - washed Kerinci - washed Ijen - washed Wamena to the extreme: Natural/honey/black honey Aceh Gayo

  • welcome to Indonesia sister. In Islamic teachings there is a term "prevention is better than cure". The evil sources of destruction in society are alcohol, gambling, fornication, interest, and all of this is prohibited [Haram] in Islamic teachings, the policy behind this prohibition is to maintain peace and tranquility in society. And as far as I know, this punishment applies only to Muslims, not to non-Muslims who live there [unless they do it in public], because if you do it in your own private place it's not a problem. Like if someone is homosexual, as long as they don't act in public and don't campaign [show] their ideology, it doesn't matter [so it's their own privacy]. So enjoy your trip!!!

    • You know what's not haram in islamic teachings tho ? Marrying children - having sex slaves - beating ur wife if she doesn't listen to u - drinking camel piss - drinking liquids full of flies - not washing ur hands before eating. So much for harm prevention. Truth is Sharia law is a 7th century law for people from the 7th century and it has no right to be applied on ppl of the 21st century. We have way more knowledge now than ppl of 7th century and we should make our own laws based on maximizing happiness of freedom. Sharia law only works on people who believe their lives are meaningless and the real life is after they die. That's why they give up all their joy because they've been indoctrinated to believe it's not worth living.

  • Hey, just wanted to say that I appreciate your honesty. Sometimes people tend to shy away from expressing their opinions but glad that you’re not one of them. I’m glad that you’ve told the locals that you don’t believe in anything, it’s a lesson for them that not everyone who’s not Muslim is automatically a Christian 😁 I’m also happy to hear things that you don’t agree with. In general, provinces in Indonesia have less autonomy than states in Australia, but the province of Aceh is an exception as it’s considered a special region so they have their own bylaws. One thing to be aware of is that these bylaws are usually results of political maneuvering. Politicians might propose a bylaw to make themselves look pious and thus boosting their political careers. The curfew for women was actually put in order during the time of a female mayor in Banda Aceh, while one who wanted to lift it was a male governor. This doesn’t actually point out to anything for them as individuals, it’s just politics. As in other places around the world, religions are potent when used as political tools. Cheers from the province of South Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia 🇮🇩🍻🇦🇺

  • Such great idea to visit the city of syariah ACEH ... Actually no big different with others city in indonesia...only straight law and regulation base on islam syariah law ... Very simple way is just follow the rules or law .. Nothing is huge or scarry thing, just being to understand what is it.. Simple simple law like any moslem country ... No bikini open dressed no rude manners like other culture no drunk or any alcohol ...the rest is normal life ..nothing to be worried or and scare of .. But aware the manner and dress or any attitude ... Like when you visit malaysia or singapore ..same with straight rule and regulation ...as long as we do care and obey ...nothing to be worries ... Event you made mistaken and in unpurposes...they still has undesttanding tolerance for mistaken because you are just visitor ot just normal tourist who has own background and religion ...we still do have understanding or tolerance as long as not happening (again) for the second time ... We always welcome We still has lovely smile ..warm and love to connected ..like typical indonesian people. So nothing to be worries or scarred ... To be honest .. i love this city ..there is some benefit when we implement some straight law... Save travel to you all...

I will gives you an example, If someone do `Fornification`, the original punishment in Islam for a Fornification you will get `mass-stoned` untill death. But here in Acehnese Province of Indonesia, you only get lashes with a small bambo in public. (Before you gets lashes, you wear a thick body protector). I was real Acehnese from my anchestor, in my Village in West Acehnese (Nagan Raya), what people testimonies about getting this punishment is : `The bamboo lashes is not that hurt, but the shame is unberable...`. So, That`s why... Syaria Law is really depended on the leader take place, when this Syaria Law were implemented. Acehnese Province, is just like a another common Indonesian province,. • Every body scare of Sharia law without even know what it is. Educate yourself. Read.

    • It's the very least polite way, while referring to Sharia Law, to comment by saying "educate yourself" to viewers all around the globe. Does it mean that you have a particularly better education ?Particularly towards a non- Muslim visiting you/ your country with sharia law, do you expect us to be sick when you are sick? Do you require that since you are wearing a green outfit that we also have to abide by it?If we want to hold hands husband & wife or as friends, then that's forbidden b'coz of sharia law? In short do we have to abide by every single item of sharia law, else we'll get flogged in public or sent to jail? That's what you call "educate yourself"? Now, what about you when you go to UK, or any western European countries? You ardently, forcefully require that the Brits or other Europeans give up their culture and adopt yours, so that you can get well integrated in their society? Some of you aswell require that those westerners in their own homeland give up alcohol & other things not to your liking to facilitate your integration ? Or even warning with death threats to headteachers who politely tell you that their schools do not cater for provision of separate prayer halls on the school premises for any group/ kind of religious belief? Or even putting up the flag of Pakistan on church roof during Easter? The list is inexaustive....that it may take days to compile only partially! . It's suggested that YOU better get 'properly educated' & learn to respect others way of living & belief because you should not be "exceptional" on this planet for any reason whatsoever, because its NOT your sole property! LEARN TO LIVE WITH THOSE WHO ARE DIFERRENT FROM YOU, YET SHARE THE SAME HUMAN VALUES. THATS WHAT'S PROPER EDUCATION MEANS!

    • I know what sharia law is, lived it, and yes it's horrid and inhumane. I'm afraid you are the one that needs to educate yourself.

  • Congratulations, Josie! You are in a country where 90% of the Hindu/Buddhist population converted to Islam after learning about its teachings. There have been no wars, and all conversions were by choice, as individuals found Islam to be a true religion. Love from 🇮🇳! Today, Indonesia has the largest Muslim population.

  • To me what was Acheh doing is absolutely great job! Syariah Law doesn't means to oppress but rather to cut down crime and wrongdoer, so every one can live in peace, Even Malaysia were the highest rank within a Muslim Country for Syariah Law but it does not apply for every one...

  • All non-Muslims in Indonesia are obligated to comply and respect with local muslims customs and religious practices, which are governed by a hidden sharia law. Under the blasphemy law, most Christians have been enmeshed, and they are subjected to persecution, threats, torture, jail, and harassment. This is a horrific conduct, especially given Indonesia's claims to be the most tolerant country, which are blatantly false. The blasphemy law exists purely for targeting minorities. So, the Indonesian government's lip service claiming being a tolerant society is nothing more than cheap propaganda and a show off for the West. In daily affairs, minorities ought to show devotion to the majority Muslims, not the other way around. Unfortunately, Western countries fell into this trap and did nothing to assist the minorities who were suffering. World wake up and act !!

  • Hey Jossie, this is a great piece of content from you. It’s my first time here. I am Malaysian and have been to Jakarta several times. There isn’t much difference between these two countries in terms of culture and people. Probably because most of us believe in the same things. I like Indonesia the same way I love my country. Anything from there always gets my interest, such as their content on KZhead, the music, the ustads. Everything is easy to adapt and embrace, except for the food. Haha… Indonesian food is mostly dry (as far as my experience goes), but Malaysian food is mostly gravy. I really want to taste the coffee. I am a coffee lover. The law that prevents you from going outside late at night is basically to protect you from any harm. Even though the place is ruled under Sharia Law, we never know if there is a psychopath out there preying on victims
