In TopGear Clarkson once said that in Brittain you've got to pay de scrapyard to take a car off your hands. Is this still the case today? If so, i can only imagine there'd be alot more cars for less money. Here in the Netherlands the scrapyard has to pay you some money for the car, depending on it's weight (scrap metal).
That's what you get for having the steering wheel on the wrong side... Even here in Bulgaria, cars with the steering wheel on the right sell for 500 to 1000 euroes less than normal cars.

These videos are really wholesome. I know that's not at all the intention, but they really are. I was born in Brazil, which has its merits but.. not the greatest place. I'm not quite sure why, but growing up I was always fascinated with Britain. Always had this strange connection to it - anything I read or heard or saw about it just felt like home, whereas Brazil felt like this disconnected reality, like I'd landed in the wrong spot by accident. Many years later I finally got to visit Scotland for 2 weeks. Tried steering way clear from all the touristy stuff - woke up early, ate where the locals ate, drove around downtown Edinburgh in a standard, right hand drive Fiat 500, also the countryside and the motorway... it just felt right. I've lived in Canada, and now the US, but nothing has ever like 'home' like the UK does. Being able to see a couple of friends just having the best time there, doing some relatively mundane things, that's just an awesome way to supplement that feeling of wanting to have been born and raised there - the cars and the shenanigans are just a big bonus (also that Jimny - that's the cutest thing!). So cheers, lads. Keep at it - you guys absolutely found your niche with the real, day-to-day, budget-constricted car guys out there - these episodes are really genuine, and that's what keeps us coming back - cheers!
Do one where all 3 of you buy a car each for a set budget and compete to see who got the best one. Basically do top gear, but like when it was good.

Honestly for everything that it’s worth, you guys have opened my eyes to the world of both budget oriented and European cars. I’m an American, and there’s a HUGE asian and American market where I am, but the European market is significantly smaller. But seeing your videos is always gonna be something I wouldn’t think of for that price.

Those old Freelanders are amazing. I did a Camel Trophy weekend with Land Rover years ago. All the hairy beardies wanted to avoid the Freelanders but I was the only one of the group to get to the top of a really long slippery incline. I remember the instructor just told me to gun it! That clutch pad smell...... Smelled like Victory!!

@@scotthotchkiss7120 for the petrol model I think that's the case but the diesel is usually fine, just the prop shaft and all the electrics that can be a problem.

Those Jimny's are properly impressive off road. It was the same with the old SJ too. Even though they had tiny little engines, they were surprsingly capable off road, and would often put, bigger, more powerful and much more expensive 4x4's to shame. Unfortunately, as apparently with the Jimny too, the SJ's aren't great on the road, and tend to wander about. But, the design does date back to 1970, so you can kind of forgive it for that. I was surprised how expensive the newer ones can be though.
I own and daily a third generation Jimny, that wandering steering can be almost completely cured with a decent steering damper. But I'll never buy an IFS truck, not worth losing that amazing solid axle offroad.
This is one of my favourite car throttle episode. Cheers guys.

Freelander Represent! ✊ I have one, and I've owned 2 total. Lost the first (My first car too) to a moronic and aggressive White Van Man that put my ass in a 30ft ditch at 60mph with a tree lodged against the door. Freelander saved my life. It has a bad name, but for all the wrong reasons! Can even keep up with Defenders. Watch those impressive videos! 👍
Ruuku Tube Sorry but Freelander’s can’t keep up with Defenders, but Freelanders are great, especially the two.
@@evang9708 I've literally seen Freelanders do the same difficult off-road maneuvers as a Defender, and I've even seen Freelander rescue one. Defenders aren't that special. With just a few simple mods, the Freelander can go anywhere the big Land Rovers can.
Ruuku Tube I think they are a great vehicle, but I still think an old defender with Solid axels, rear diff lock and low range, 9/10 they just can’t compete. The Freelander 2 in my opinion is the best all rounder, they have good traction control system which get them through a lot of difficult maneuvers. Obviously you have simplicity too, Defenders are more spartan than a bar of soap. I think tires are a big factor too, if a defender has shit tires and a Freelander has good off-road tyres, it makes a big difference, but that’s the only time I can see a Freelander compete.
@@evang9708 I've always found that watching old defenders do an axle twister kind of course never ends very well as they just can't do it all that well so a Freelander would probably keep up on an axle twister course. The new defender on the other hand well the Freelander isn't quite on that level but freelanders are good cars if you actually try them and use them for work and what not.
@@beaviccoon470 The problem is Diff locks on Axel twisters, Freelander will just spin wheels, While Defenders with Centre or Rear Difflocks will grip, My family owns two Freelanders both 1 and 2s and there's no way around this, you need momentum and a high dependence on an old tech Traction control systems, added to that, lack of solid axels will mean they won't flex like old Discovery or Defenders. We had An old G-wagon with front and rear Difflocks and it was pretty scary what that could climb.
