  • Nice work. Im a retired automotive painter. Back masking as you showed is a very important skill and technique to use. Especially around door gaps, bonnet gaps and panel gaps in general. I was shown the folded tape method, whete you can fold 50% of the tape over itself , still has an adhesive 50% but the folded tape " flap " actually moves with the air flow fromthe spray gun. Leaving a beautiful featheted edge that the eye cant see.

  • Brilliant vid. The front ‘splitter’ plate on my 911 was all chopped up. I had resigned myself to its fate thinking that I’d just replace it in the coming months. You’ve saved me 250 quid and I’m well happy with the result. Even with just the 4 sanding phases post wipe and with some plastic renovator it looked brilliant. But when the texture paint arrived it ended up like new. Thank you.

  • Your videos are brilliant! There's not song and dance bullshit. It's straight to the point. The repairs you have shown are "common" everyday damage and you have shown how they can be repaired simply without any special tools. I'll be using some of these techniques with the cars at work. So happy I discovered your channel.

  • Many thanks for imparting some very useful knowledge on this sort of trim. I have just traded in my mini clubman 2016 that had this stuff all around it, i managed to do very similar damage to the car you were working on and the best i could do was to fine sand and then black shoe cream to the area and buff with a cloth, it looked a lot better but now i would follow your tips and feel confidence in a better repair that was more permanent, rather than having to keep the shoe cream ready after each car was. But hey I get my mk3 TT shortly so no more black trim 😂. I will subscribe and do realise the time involved to produce your helpful videos. Cheers Tony

  • Excellent again! Also, what I really like is how succinct and to the point these videos are. You get these videos, often by Americans, who go on and on for hours because they like the sound of their own voices and who make everything sound like some impossible mystery. Then, by the end (if you last that long), they've actually taught very little. This is what we like....no mucking about! Great! 👏👏

  • I didn't know there was a textured spray can, never seen that before, not available in my location. I painted my lower valance (plastic) bumper on my first gen toyota tacoma. It was old and faded, sanded it down, sprayed adhesion promoter then sealer, but the surface was smooth. I had a cheap chinese spraygun that was so bad, it doesn't atomize paint very well. So, I lowered the pressure to like 18 psi and dusted single stage semi gloss black paint on the valance. Looked just like textured plastic. Semi gloss black looked just like trim dressing, but permanent. Happy with the result.

  • Howdy from Oklahoma USA! Not a repair technique but instead of a heat gun, try 50/50 mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil, restores plastics and is a long lasting effect love to see you test it. I've had great results. Heat guns work well to hide small scratches in plastics but it seems to always leave an extra shiny spot, I may have to try the grey scotch bright pad to dull it out a bit, thanks for the tips, love your channel and have learned plenty from it!

  • Will it work on a deeper scratch? I had an Audi 80 reversed up against a hedge, and I jacked the car up on all four sides to get under it to remove exhaust bolts so as to take the heads off. Anyways the flaming hedge put a fairly deep scratch in the plastic bumper at the back. I've not got the car back yet from the engine specalists. But am wondering if your technique will work for it. Hopefully it will. I guess if a scratch is deep enough a small bit of plastic could be melted in and then sand and heat and spray and all?
