kzhead.info/sun/ZtiGgauXkIeleq8/bejne.html
Best craftsmanship Ever Because the sword is not breaking, bending or has a crack even after standing on it (which probably no sword will be able handle such testing).

I am a korean, and i know this sword is not a korean style. The shape of the handle, the shape of the blade, both are japan style. Korea was well known for bow, not Swords. Our korean swords were narrower, and we our sword handle does not look like that. NONE of we koreans think this is an korean traditional sword, and we dont even want to claim this sword is our tradition. This video's title is for views 100%.
Fully agreed. I dunno why the Koreans do not try to promote their glorious history of "bows and arrows" to the world instead of fabricating nonexistent history of "Korean sword" or something very often. Incidentally, Ernst J. Oppert observed that sword was not a usual weapon for Korean soldiers at all, saying “Common soldiers hardly ever wear swords. Only officers and mandarins of higher rank are armed with such of JAPANESE make, but they are all OLD and RUSTY. It is more likely that these also were brought into the country by the Japanese, and were left behind on their withdrawal." (cited from “A Forbidden Land: Voyages to the Corea”)

Nothing but a prop on movies. As usual, the Koreans learn by watching the Japanese do some work, and following their examples. Tea ceremony, flower arrangement, various martial arts, etc., etc. Such is the case with this swordsmthing, too.
Japanese invaded Korea multiple times so of course there are influences. But do not forget that Japanese culture itself was strongly influenced by Chinese and Korean culture before Edo era.
@@uleertel >"Japanese culture itself was strongly influenced by Chinese and Korean culture before Edo era." After all, Korean culture or something is supposed to be included in the cultural sphere of China. (cf. "The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order" by Samuel P. Huntington) In a word, any kingdoms including Baekje in the Korean peninsula had been a mere "pathway" between each Chinese dynasty and ancient Japan. In the first place, Baekje itself had been a ethnically diverse state, and there were various ethnic groups in it those days. "The Book of Sui, vol.81: Biographies 46, the Dongyi; Baekje (隋書 巻八十一 列傳第四十六 東夷 百濟条)" says as follows: "*Ancestors of Baekje people were descended from Gogryeo people. Baekje is a ethnically mixed region, where there are various peoples from Shilla, Gogryeo, WA (ancient japan), and Chinese as well*" (百濟之先, 出自高麗國. Incidentally, some researchers argue that "Dr. Wani (王仁) could have been a member of the Lelang Commandery (楽浪郡) clan that fled to Baekje when Lelang collapsed in 313."
This is why Japanese don't deserve to be taught. They forget about Baekje had taught them all they needed to know to civilize themselves and they go over and f@&k up Korean pennisula. TWICE

Although not the most traditional way of making japanese swords (katana anyway) there are some good ideas for a more production focused approach. I've seen this form of heat treatment before and would love to get a metallurgist's input. The thing that struck me the most was that with that traditional tsuka, the blade appears to be peened over the kashira, defeating the entire mekugi work. I would love to talk to the smith about these choices.
He’s Korean and it’s not a Japanese sword. It’s far from.
@@ryoact I knew he was Korean. But is it usual for Korean swords to be peened?
@@angelosilva342 you mean “pinned”? I have no idea about Korean swords manufacturing.
@@ryoact the proper was to spell it is "peened" (it's not related to the male organ) which comes from "peen", although I concede the terms are potentially related. Basically, unlike a traditional nakago, there was a thin "rod-like" protrusion at the end of the tang, and it seems to be a circular peen mark on the kashira. Which is weird, because the whole point of the handle construction with the mekugi pin is to disassemble the handle. If its peened over the kashira, it can't be done anymore without undoing the peen, which is much more work.
