They have ruined flying drones for law abiding citizens. They will argue that what they are doing, flying over commercial premises and police stations is legally permitted, but they are morally corrupt. They are putting us all at risk, in many ways. I wanted to fly drones because it gave me a sense of freedom. I wanted to fly as a boy, so I bought my M2 for my 60th birthday to fulfil a dream. It was wonderful while it lasted. The view from the sky is most spectacular. I would like them to be prosecuted rather than penalising those of us with genuine intentions.
Nah it’s the government that ruins it for everyone. You don’t punish everyone for the crimes of the few. It’s not reasonable to ban cars because someone commits vehicular murder We don’t ban guns even after mass shootings Even if we are just taking about parks, boats are allowed and they can cause damage. Dogs are allowed and they can mess with wildlife. Why should drones be the exception? At most just require licensing or something.
what can't you do?
Just get a drone that weighs less than 250 grams and fly for recreation.(Not for money). All you have to do then is take the trust test which takes literally 5 minutes. It's what I did and I don't regret buying a drone.
or if your in Canada like me literally need nothing. And little to no restrictions with a sub 250g drone. Height in restricted grey circles is 500m outside any grey circle unlimted just your battery is the limit amd can fly over roads cars amd people. America is just super paranoid thinking everyone is strapping a bomb to their drone. Just obvi dont be dumb.
The colab we never expected but beyond happy that happened! Greg is awesome! I followed Pilot Institute and took their course to study for the 107 few years ago and boy was passing that test a breeze! Greg actually teaches things in english and easy to understand. Breaks it all down incredibly simply and emphasizes the right things for safety and fun! Keep these awesome Colabs coming!
Potato learning about all the rules he's (we've all) broken to this point 😂
Currently studying for my UAV test, I'm surprised by how useful this video is. I always appreciate your mix of entertainment and knowledge-sharing you do.
Two people I immensely respect in this industry, together in one video! Thanks for this. Very helpful stuff. Even though I have a 107 and scored well on it, constantly learning is the key to staying legal.
Got my drone license after doing Pilot Institute's course last year! Greg is awesome! And I like that I'm a member of the content for life. He has great news recaps on youtube as well. Love the Greg/Potato Jet collab.
Fantastic collaboration guys! Love Potato Jet and love Pilot Institute for drone safety and regulation content!
Glad you pulled in Greg! Pilot Institute is such a great service and a super supportive community. Money well spent for me.
It was great to see you teaming up with Greg from Pilot Institute. Greg has a lot of knowledge, and can really explain even the most complicated Part 107 rule so anyone can understand them. And of course he offers his Part 107 course. Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
I did Greg's course in 10 days comfortably. got an extra week cause my test was canceled, but I was ready in 10 days. If you need your part 107, go to pilot institute. Greg is an amazing teacher.
I used Greg to get my 107 2 years ago and I must admit I am NOT a great student at all and I passed it easily my first time. I did take my time with it and studied for 2 months about an hour a day. Sectional charts are no joke and neither is this exam. If you do not study and do the practice exams that Greg has, you will fail this exam. Like I said earlier, I am not a great student but Greg made it fun and easy to learn. Having my Section 107 has changed my business big time. My You Tube Channel has gotten me a lot of real estate clients because of my drone flights. I highly recommend people to learn the laws, fly safe and have fun. It's an amazing hobby too! Great video too guys!
That is the exact same story as mine, I took 3 months to study, but greg made it fun
The 2024 exam just came out this past Monday. Very few questions from the previous year's test are actually on the new test making it difficult. The maps for sure still remain in place though. Just saying. Study new material prior to the renewal.
What an AMAZING collaboration between Potato Jet and Pilot Institute! Keep ‘em coming! ❤
Got my Part 107 last month. Dedicated 2 weeks to study for it and it was still difficult because of the range of questions. Now it's time to get a bigger drone! Thanks for the content.
where do you recommend I study - was there a website or document that you liked the best?
@@roknbokerking schools
@@roknboker I bought a local chart of my area, I tried every free practice test and video I could find (Mr. Mig's Classroom is really good) but I got the most use out of a practice test app called "Part 107 Test". I even paid for the full version. Even then I had at least 10 questions on the actual test that I had never come across before.
@@SkyPathProductionsking schools helped a ton. Also drone coach and Mr miggs
Great job, I've done my FAA part 107 with the Pilot-institute and they helped tremendously with their classes
Why do I have a feeling Gene got called by the FAA and this is part of his community service! It’s like traffic school for drone violators. Great video though!
Thank you for bringing this info to your community PotatoJet (and your transparency on your own Part 107), more safety around drones is better for everyone.
Don't own a drone. Don't plan to get a drone. But u know I'm sitting through ANY potatojet video 🥰
Do own multiple drones, plan on getting multiple more drones, and im watching potato jet either way lmao
Owning a drone is like putting a camera on bird and making it go where you want to film and photograph what you want from distances and heights you never be able to in your own human capacity. They are fun little techy machines. Buy one.
Having climbed and hiked all the mountains and trails I'm my area and getting older, I'm going after a new perspective. My mini 3 showed up yesterday, and I'm watching a ton of these vids before I fly. It'll be fun.
Not having a drone is definitely cheating yourself outta some cool times buy a drone
@@charlescarpenter1330just ordered one but after seeing so many rules and restrictions, limits it’s getting to be not worth it. Think i might return it when it comes in.
Appreciate all the info! getting registered and going for part 107. Seems like Pilot Institute is the best way to go about it all!
@Gregg Love your informative videos. We all need to help spread the word and fight for all the drone pilots and how much they absolutely love this hobby!
Probably one of your best videos and you produce some of the best videos out there. Your channel appeals to everyone from the beginner to the seasoned veteran. Great job.
Greg's a great guy, it's nice to see him on your channel. Pilot Institute is the go to for information for drone flyers.
Been looking at the pilot for a while now, this definitely encourages me to go for it. Thanks, PJ!
I've been on the fence about getting my 107, this video pushed me over the edge. Thanks for the great discount!
Cannot express enough how informative this is, thank you guys!!
Great post1! I’m just enjoying all the info. I own 4, have my 107. ALWAYS more to learn, plus rules can change, it’s always great to refresh and review, listen to as much variety of different levels of flyers. As each flyer has different purposes, places, and especially different capability drones, one can NEVER ass-u-me each flight is going to ever be the same. (Like the wind!)🇺🇸
Got my Part 107 with help from Pilot Institute! Greg is awesome and structures the course so well. Great to see a video like this!
Such a helpful video! Didn’t even know some of these rules were so out of date! Thank you👏🏽
What a collab! Great and much needed information. Thanks!
We've had good luck with the FAA on all our airspace requests! They're a good bunch of people and always helpful during that process
Excellent video. Very informative! Ive had my Part 107 for a long time. What a difference in the flow of information these days. Thanks for making the video!
Your videos have improved greatly. Have slowed down how fast you talk has made your stuff much more enjoyable to watch and follow. As always your knowledge is great and having Greg on was super. Didn’t realize they are in Prescott. I am up there like every weekend as have family up there. Thanks for this excellent video👍
Outstanding Video. Every question answered I completely agree with as it's stated in Part 107. Bravo. I've been legally flying since 2017. It's been a ride and this video nails every question perfectly. Bravo and thank you for this service to our industry. Have fun Potato Jet. Welcome to the club. Enjoy the bounty of benefits you will receive from flying safe, aware and legal to the FAA who does want to help our industry. They just want safe pilots!
That exact comment of "I feel like I should've done this way sooner" resonates so true with so many people I talk to. - Just Do It. Glad you don't have to solely rely on Carry any more ;) Love ya Jet! & team.
Nice to see a creator not giving bum info about drone rules and teaming up with Greg from Pilot Institute, good move. 😎
This is one of the best I've seen that combines excellent scenic video with instruction.
There are so many rules for getting a drone nowadays, crazy what you have to go through just to fly a drone. Great information, but really puts it all into perspective.
...because of all the boneheads doing stupid things.
This was one of the best drone info videos I've seem--thanks for making this! I'd also like to see a side-by-side comparison of the Mavic 3 cine vs the Air 3. Surprisingly, there aren't many reputable comparisons out rn
It’s always cool to see you visit my home state, Gene! If you are ever a bit more south and want some local opinions, hit me up! Also, as a former private pilot and current part 107 holder, THANK YOU for making this video! Most people I know that have drones have not registered them, taken the TRUST, and they fly for hire without their part 107. It’s the bad actors who push safety boundaries and end up getting the rest of us more restrictions on flight, which means more cost and less income. Please, if you are not registered or if you haven’t taken the appropriate exams / courses for flying a drone, go get it done NOW!
So cool to see Greg here! I am working on my 107 rn with him!
👉🏻Just finished taking the Part 107 course through Pilot’s institute. They definitely have a good product that helped me pass the test with flying colors (pun intended 😂)
I landed in Zazu while you guys were filming this, easy to spot fellow KZheadrs out in the wild! Good stuff!
Ill be honest some of the rules regarding car and people like crossing roads is a bit much, so long as theres a plan in place and distance we should be allowed to fly over. Rules are a bit strict still but end of the day its down to bad pilots letting everyone else down.
Epic video. The regulations and fear of getting in trouble have prevented me from flying a drone. Now I’m feeling confident to get up in the air
Love pilot institute! Great study material for part 107!
Back in May I vacationed in Sedona, AZ so I instantly recognized the landscape in this video lol. I did a ton of research as to where I could fly in and around Sedona before I flew out there. I wish I had known about the Pilot Institute site with all the Arizona laws before hand. Thankfully I was able to fly with no issues.
Loved this Colan Collab!! Thankyou for all the information 🙏🏻
Great video, and yes, getting my part 107 has changed my world and my respect for my passion flying Drones, and don’t kid yourself, ask anyone that has taken a test it is quite stressful.
I've been Part 107 Certified and doing commercial work in this industry for nearly 5 years now for the day job. Very helpful for new pilots getting into the industry. Since I'm looking at getting a new bird.. I may have to get some of those stickers.
I love this guys course, I was able to pass my UAS Part 107. The app and educational piece is so awesome. Great video. Also, in my experience some Universities have even more specific UAS requirements as well. I ran into that issue flying at ASU.
I didn't realize Pilot Institute offered so many free services and information! Outstanding! Thank you for sharing, cheers 🍻
Great stuff, Gene!
Well done. Love the review and the comedy you added to the video. Nice it is updated information.
Nice video! Its so important to inform people about those rules!
Great and informative video. Very Well done! Thank You PI and PJet.
Awesome video!! Pretty much covers it all! And, fun to watch!
Awesome video! Pilot Institute is a great resource.
This is great! Recently I was visiting Niagara Falls and saw a sign indicating no drone usage, but the DJI app said it was fine to fly. Knowing that there are additional resources that I can check is really helpful.
So did you fly or not?
Yeah Greg! His course was amazing, got a 93 on my exam because of his course.
Thank you from the dude at Hilton who recognized you in Prescott AZ. Thank you for the tips on the apps. I just picked up a Tello before I get something nice
4:54 I'm a pilot who flies in and out of that airport... Buttonville is a huge airport, it's been there since the 1950s, and any police officer flying a drone that close to the runway approach had to have been a moron. Especially when they claimed they didn't know an airport was there; Buttonville airport is the operating base for the helicopters / aircraft of that police force.
Great informative video. It seems that a lot of people don't know the rules, and even when you think you know them there can be other things that may prevent you from flying. I'd like to plug Pilot Institute for their great educational training. I used their training course to acquire the knowledge and ultimately pass the exam for the part 107.
Really great and to-the-point stuff here. Thank you!
Nice video, I liked the format with practical questions relating to the rules.
So well done. I am setting up UAS training for students and campus police for my employer ( a university). this common sense approach is wonderful!
This was very informative! Thanks for covering so much info in one video. I'd love to have a video like this for Canadian drone laws. 🤣
Great video! Looks like Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock in the first part of the video, wish you had talked about flying in Wilderness Areas...
Nicely done 👌🏽 gentleman. New fan of Pilot Institute!
WoW! Guys, Thank you for the amazing updates on flying drones. I'm Part-107 certified through Pilot Institute, the Best. -This video really helps many drone operators on refresher education on drone flying , policy & FAA law awareness & Updates...Keep The Drone awareness Spirit Going...
Fun and educational? You guys have the lock on that! Thank you, great job!
Great video, nice uptodate information with the expert from Pilot Institute, outstanding location. THANK YOU!
Great video! My wife got her Part 7 a while back and it was pretty eye opening all the rules that I think are commonly misunderstood. If you want to go down the rabbit hole even deeper, just filming in general on public land if you are monetizing may be illegal if you didn't get a permit beforehand. This applies to NPS, BLM, FWS, and NFS which many many people don't seem to be aware of. Then there is state managed land which is even more complex because each state is different.
Two of my favs together !
Excellent vid!
Greg is the best I got mine through him.. And I've already used several times.. and use it three times so far on Independent films... His way of teaching is very fluid.. and his cool accent really helps 😂.. good guy and great class no joke. I'm old and I was able to pass it.
This was very informative .Thanks Potato jet & Greg 👍🏽
This is really helpful! Thank you 🙂
Awesome collaboration! I'd love to see more...
Thanks for the video, I know iv been looking for better understanding into this stuff that makes since. Hopefully the line of site rule is something that gets modified sooner or later. I dont have a drone yet, but been next to people that have them and seems like you can only see them for a couple hundred feet which for so many scenarios just does not work.
Got my DJI Mini 3 2 months ago. I Just started studying for my part 107 license. This video was a great starting point in trying to figure out what to expect and what I should do.
Just passed my test today with a 92! Pilot Institute really works.
Great video I love that plane and I love Sedona! I used to fly diamond star 686US into Sedona all the time
Great refresher video.
Thx for the video. Very informative
Thank you, great video. I subbed. Great collaboration (GRO/TATO) Greg is a great instructor. I take my part 107 next month.
Great video as always 🔥
Really enjoyed this video! Will definitely over our drone rules are here in 🇨🇦
Oh and congrats Gene on the Part 107 cert!
As a drone noob, I have learned much. Thx guys.
Never gonna miss a potato jet video.. 💪
I flight-tested my entire drone fleet yesterday and every one of them passed their Remote ID non-compliance exam with flying colors!
Great info! Thanks a lot Potato!
As a long time pilot I loved this video
Great video. New subscriber. Love the collaboration with Greg.
Really a fantastic, useful, and fun video!
Thank you for this!!!
Thank you gentlemen for your video.

Very cool. Nice video and collaboration

Great video guys!
Very useful video. You haven't done a video like this in a while. Thanks
