This man feels like a Dark Souls boss in AEW
More like an important npc
@@tigersinyourlungs both, like slave knight Gael.
Malakai Black's creativity is simply off the charts and he has the best entrance in all of AEW. Simply unbelievable that Vince McMahon didn't know what to to do with him before his release. Black is super talented.
Great character. I was waiting for him to take off in WWE, and become one of their prime time players. He's dark and sort of supernatural, and I thought he'd be the new Undertaker. Then, nothing. WWE creative didn't know what to do with him and Vince didn't like him. I like the way AEW is handling him.
@@sspaay Vince did like him. Black has said that before.
Simply
Don't blame Vince, man. Dude was just trying to cut down on the overflowing roster it makes total sense because you never want a product that is too loaded with stars. Now don't lash out at me, I hate wwe, but you can't deny actions like that when they are clearly reasonable. AEW did the right thing by taking him though. He is an absolute asset to the company as well as Bray Wyatt. They should definitely take Bray Wyatt as well.
@@TheDemonCaine Black said during his appearance on Talk is Jericho 2 months ago that he had a good conversation with Vinnie Mac a couple of weeks prior to his release. Vince had no idea what to do with his character, simple as that.
Love how he didn't want to get into the eye 'make up' and just gave a vague reason for it. He's really thought the character through and the depth of it seems so personal to him. Awesome stuff!
At 11:00 he tells it more concrete
I'm really looking forward to seeing how he evolves the character.
Wait until you figure out his character's tarot card rabbit hole. With him spraying mist into the eyes of Julia Hart the other night, "The Empress draws The Fool". See if you can figure it out.
Would love to see Him and Punk feud at some point. Not only would the ring work be awesome but the mic work would be incredible!
Dude, there are so many dream matches in AEW right now. It's honestly incredible.
Yes! I need that to happen
But First Him and Darby
@@jaimerivera7872 nah not darby right now, obviously in future but right now darby should feud with guys like mjf, adam cole, pac Black should feud with punk, miro, Kingston, moxly
Would start by punk sitting in the ring cross legged then the lights go out and when they come back on Malakai is sitting across from him.
I love how Malakai is still keeping the Kayfabe alive even while doing a non Kayfabe podcast with the white eye.
Such a nice touch.
You think this is keeping Kayfabe? Sad.
@@ghatmen300 Yes. If you don't, whatever.
I’ve been watching this for 30 mins and didn’t even notice that - good spot 😂👍🏻
Malakai black is the most intriguing character on AEW. His character work is off the chart. His character work and wrestling ability makes him a must see wrestler. I have been waiting for this podcast eagerly.
IKR?! Took forever to get him and it didn't last long enough 😅
This was so good! His brain is on another level!
He put a lot of research into the gimmick...the presentation. Black will be TNT champ sometime in 2022.
Roman Reigns
@@nman1 I didn’t know he wrestles for AEW.
He's so deep in his character. Everyone can tell how much he cares.
Is he wearing the eye gimmick for a shoot interview? That is commitment.
Damn you beat me to it. That's keeping kayfabe alive. I love the consistency
This man is committed to the act, he's a gem
ITS STILL REAL TO ME DAMMIT ‼️
That was the first thing I noticed after the first 5 or 10 mins I was like whoa it’s bad ass
You never know truly if Tommy End is seized by the twisted one downstairs, he literally said he has been interested in the occult since he was a boy.
the most awesome part of Malakai is that somewhere down the line we could see Tommy End emerge from Malakai Black and that's so creative and so fricken cool
Tommy is so thoughtful and caring into his character and psychology of wrestling. True artist
Malakai Black should put coins on his opponent's eyes after he beats them so they can pay the boatman to go to the other side.
He mentioned it in a promo; I was disappointed that he didn’t.
Doesn't he? I can swear I saw this not too long ago.
@@loganfox3134 no
The fact that the lights go out and we don't SEE which entrance Malakai comes out of, or goes into to, leaves a little ambiguity into the motives behind the man - whether he's face or heel. (example, even Adam Cole on his debut before superkicking Jungle Boy came out of the heel entrance - there was never ambiguity there). Black is one of the most complex characters in all of wrestling, and has been for a long, long time.
Well he's going against cody so he's certainly a heel
I've never caught the subtlety of that, but you're 100% correct. This man is very intricate with his psychology so I have no doubt that's why he enters like that. Good catch.
@Reality creator 666 kNOw DON'T b3LIEv3 ...
Brilliant comment.
I can’t remember anyone else besides Cody not coming from one of the two entrances. Well there’s Moxley, but that kinda makes the case stronger. None of them are straight heels or faces.
He comes off as the scariest dude in the ring bar none with his entrance and his ringwork!
Malakai makes a great point with regards to his NXT entrance. Long dramatic entrances just cant really translate to a TV production (unless ur the special legendary character like Undertaker for example). Having a simple, straightforward, and yet different and striking entrance.... Perfection!
He has AEW's best Entrance so far
Fact
And being one of AmenRa songs makes it even more amazing! More people need to check them out!
Fact
AEW just seems so chill and a cool place to be , from the outside looking in💯
Malakai has always had awesome and majestic entrances wherever he's wrestled. He's such a creative and intelligent man. When he's given control of his character and what he can show in the ring he is amazing to watch. Hopefully we'll see a few title wins for him down the road in AEW when the time is right.
Malakai Black isn't just a wrestler, he's the thinking man's wrestler. Everything he does is carefully orchestrated and so interestingly arresting. Can't wait until he comes back to Europe and I can go see him at an AEW event. He is the most intriguing attraction and I can't get enough. REDRUM.
Well said. People in the past have opined that he could be a kind of new era Undertaker, but what he’s done is arguably ahead of even that formula at its Attitude era height from 1998-1999. That’s with all respect to the Undertaker because he was also, in relative terms to the time, the thinking man’s wrestler.
Love Tommy! Such an intelligent, kind & badass dude from his twitch streams & encounter experiences people have talked about. Thanks for this interview.
I did some digging and I believe the deity he based his character on is Cernunnos. (For those needing the spelling) Also, Moloch.
The Dark Father gimmick he was trying in WWE before he was cut was heavily based on Lutheranism. The man invests time and effort into his stuff.
i was hoping for some kind of relation to czernobog as well but it seems that isnt there
Cernunnos: Pagan all-father. God of Gods.
His deity is based on Ramen noodle
you did some digging? He literally said this in the video.
Aubrey chasing down sips of coffee with a sip of water. Never seen anyone do that before.
Could be to stop her teeth getting f'd up by coffee?
@@KhanCarnivore then she should use a straw
A welcome breath of fresh air, with new ideas, reinventing the business one fight at a time. Kudos to You Mr. Black. And maybe someday, one of my compatriots from Poland will arrive at AEW.
I didn't see any of his wwe run...but how the hell did they not use this guy, he's a whole other level
I seen him live at NXT Takeover. He has the "it" factor. That's the WWE's fault for dropping the ball......
On NXT, he was perfect. He got to the main roster and they underutilized him. His work with Buddy Murphy (who was also a waisted talent they released) was some of the best back and forth style of matches. Now that both are on their separate ways, I hope they meet again in the future.
Watch the last 5 minute of this video. This person wouldn't fit for main roster wwe. AEW was perfect fit for him.
His run in NXT proved he had that IT factor. He had a crazy character with THE best entrance that main roster water down and didn’t know what to do with.
Because vince is understand about tommy's character in a terms of pure wrestling and performances. It is very difficult for vince to execute it in a terms of Sports Entertainment. That's why vince had let him go in a good way and tommy agrees with it.
This entrance is on the same level as the Undertaker with the ominous bells.
This is why Aew is amazing. I don't like to listen to wrestling podcast but when I saw malakai black podcast, couldn't resist
Same this is the first I've listened to only because of malakai
Lol same here
Malakai's enterance gives me chills everytime. I love it!
He's a badass dude
He turns me on and I’m straight
My favorite wrestling podcast period
Incredibly interesting to hear from such a unique talent. Malakai Blacks meticulous dedication to his character proves how much of an asset he is to wrestling.
This episode could also be called "Inside the Wrestler's Studio". If this dude could get enough free time, he'd probably make a crazy good indie horror script.
I’d watch it or read it
I wouldn't bet that he doesn't have one already done or in progress.
It's such interesting listening an artist talking about his art. Tommy is a wrestling artist and AEW is a great place for him to express himself.
I learned so much about Malakai Black. This was an awesome episode! :D
This is a guest this podcast has long needed. Now we need: Jericho, MJF, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Bryan Danielson, and Adam Cole. Get on that AEW
Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson will come, that's for sure. It's weird Jericho hasn't done it yet cause he for sure likes to hear himself talk, as much as I like him. The older guys too could show up at some point. I mean Dean Malenko has done it so why not the others. MJF, though, not happening. That guy is 100% commited to keyfabe. He's not doing this kind of interview.
I kind of never want to see MJF in this kind of setting. Not because I think he’d suck or be uninteresting but because part of what makes him a great heel in my opinion is that he’s always in character and always keeping it kayfabe in public.
If MJF did one then I imagine that it would be similar to the interview that he did with Chris Van Vliet.
If you've seen one Jericho interview you've seen them all. It's just him putting himself over for an hour lmao.
He's done more in a few weeks than he ever did when he was begging people to fight him.
He's free to do what he wants now. That was the whole thing behind the insane asylum video. ALL HAIL THE DUTCH DESTROYER!!!
Love this Podcast with Malakai Black interview, Loved what he had to say about his style and how he created the House of Black.
"im still dutch so sometimes the words dont line up" while speaking better english than i, a native speaker, could likely manage
Awesome awesome interview. I love creative people. I look forward to what he does in the future. 👍🏾
From being underutilized to being biggest superstar in AEW. Malakai Black is now the hottest name in professional wrestling. Huge fan.
Thomas, Many years ago I met you at one of your last UK indy shots (Future Pro Wrestling in Sutton) and I wished you good luck for the future. What you're doing right now is what you should have been doing all along. I'm glad you're getting the chance to show people what we saw for years in Europe.
I can listen to him for hours , his passion for everything is unthinkable , also the answer to eye make up was perfect revealing just enough for fans to speculate
Love his character in AEW!!! A great wrestler and storyteller! You can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work. Thanks to a great podcast to bring this side of it out!
Crazy, how I'm so intrigued by this Dude. The more he talks the more I wanna Listen. Fastest Podcast I've Listen to.
he’s such an awesome human being outside of the ring. I met him on Friday in Miami and he’s so cool
AEW FOREVER 👊
Love this. This is why AEW us thriving. We are adults. These are performers. Performers who create their own personas. Broadway for those who love physicality and violence.
I’m absolutely fascinated by Tommy End. I could listen to him for hours! What a great podcast!
Great episode. Malakai Black is the most intresting star on the AEW roster. 🤘🏻Hail The House Of Black
Perhaps the best interview conducted yet. So much respect for Malakai Black. The detail put into the character's creation and growth is to be envied. Congratulations are also in order for the hard work and success of his clothing line Black Mass. Tom is doing a tremendous job of putting to rest the idea that pro wrestlers are just dumb jocks.
I'm such a big fan of what he's doing right now
The feud I need to happen one day....not soon but when all the parts are ready...........Malakai Black vs Darby Allin......god this need to happen.
with Sting as an extra element....this would be such an outstanding program.
I've been waiting for this!!!!
A fellow dutchie, hugely creative, gigantically popular and talented beyond believe! I'd consider him my role model if I had just the tiny amount of talent he has
Hoping that Buddy shows up and they do a rivalry and eventually form a 'best enemies' sort of stable. Like The Bar, but they still hate each other.
Malakai is a future AEW world champ for sure
For me his entrance are the most cool entrance that i had watch.feel goosebumps when he make entrance.man.. its been long got that chill
Malakai has that IT factor that being able to use his creative spark to being forth such an unique experience. I love that he’s able to bring his style forth for others to enjoy. Tommy is a thinking mans type of guy. His ideas and story telling are a breath of fresh air.
A cinematic match or short film between Malakai and Rotunda would be sick as hell. The minimalist approach to his entrance is something I can really enjoy, not everything needs to be over the top to be effective. The symbolic approach he takes is a really good way to get inside people's heads so they can absorb themselves in the moment. Holding back information about his eye is brilliant, the explanation makes perfect sense too, and there is just enough left out that will keep people interested in how the character continues to evolve.
I love the depth of thought this guy puts into his craft. I'll be rooting for him.
I LOVE that even though he's doing an interview, he STILL has his right eye in that sense. *muah* continuity. I love it. Thats awesome
Man do I love AEW! This company is creating magic that we needed in a long time!!
He's still wearing a contact lense during the interview! That's commitment.
When Tom said he 'we went back at one point [to The Netherlands]', that has to be that WWE Event I went to in 2017 in the Ahoy in Rotterdam! He had a triple threat match against Neville (PAC) and Austin Aries, which Neville won. The crowd was really into it that night, which surprised me, because usually Dutch people are a bit, well... lukewarm? I had a real good time!
Tommy eats, breaths and sleeps creativity. What a fascinating man!!!! I can't wait to see everything he has in store for us. Character wise and creativity wise AEW's biggest signee of 2021 by far, and he is a great in ring performer with a unique style. The total package that we can enjoy every week 👏👏👏👏 And also the most sinister promos I've heard in a long time. Always making little changes to those 2 min videos that add so much.
He's an artist like Kenny Olivia. :-P
I had a low key sense of awe for this entire interview.
Very fascinating interview with the brilliant Malakai Black.
Love all the research he did for Malakai
Being a huge fan of film and cinematic lighting, Black's entrance is on a whole 'nother level. It's like a 2 minute horror movie, all condensed into its minimalist perfection. give me goosebumps every-time.
This is truly an eye opener
It's so adorable when he talks abt Zelina and his cats
Loved that he mentioned Michael Dante, I was a huge fan of the Sumerian Death Squad. Their wars with the NAK in ICW were brutal classics.
So amazing how Malaki forgot the word at the start of the podcast but remembered by the END of the podcast 😂😂. Phenomenal. Couldnt SCRIPT that 🤣🤣
He kept his contact in for the interview, love the guy. True professional.
Malakai Black is one of the most exciting wrestlers to see everytime he wrestles.
Awesome love Cradle of Filth Can't wait to see that line...damn.
One of the best
Been waiting for this one ☠️
I'm glad AEW give him his creativity from Tommy End to Aleister Black and now Malakai Black I love his in ring ability and his persona he may be dark on TV but he is genuine in reality😈🔥🤘
Love this
Just looking up the history behind the deity Janus makes me really excited to see what Malakai does in AEW.
Just wanting to say I’m excited for the release of the Double or Nothing deluxe ring set with the Aubrey figure! I’ve recently rediscovered my action figure collection and gotten back into collecting. This is an awesome time to be a fan again. I saw the end of the 80s boom, the 90s boom, and now is like the ultimate time to be consumed by pro wrestling.
Such an incredible worker, performer, and artist.
I wanna see Malakai Black vs Pac. The match sounds so good it rhymes. Pac is a perfect equal opponent in in ring style and Pac has a character that shows no fear. It would b a great fued I think if they would do it.
That's phenomenal, however who would be the heel?
Black v Pentagon dark...🖤
@@SomeGuy-mt4hq Malakai as the heel
Tommy End vs Pac had happened. There are highlight videos on KZhead.
Malakai Black has been my favorite wrestler since the first time I saw him in NXT,he’s the first wrestler since Undertaker that instantly grabbed my attention & made me pay attention
Great interview
I honestly had never seen any Tommy End matches when he was in wwe. I had heard of his character there but I had stopped watching before he arrived there. I can honestly say in the short time he has been in AEW he has become my absolute favorite character on the show. The entrance is incredible and just the overall image is so vastly different from the other characters in AEW. He is definitely unique and I can't wait to watch the House of Black rise.
I never knew him either until he started the dark father character then watched his aew match after that I locked his WWE he's definitely a really tough dude the hits he takes and ends up kicking out of is crazy
@@Rnerdy197 He definitely looks the part and that goes a long way in allowing people to suspend disbelief.
"no man is truly good, no man is truly evil. I do the things you never could and we will never be equal"
His character sounds so thoughtful and complexed. So many different layers and tiny details. It's no wonder that WWE didn't understand. Thank god AEW gets it and let's it unfold weekly.
Big fan from France, I hope that one day AEW does a live tour in Europe so we can see Black wrestle again in our country !!
Malakai black is awesome 🔥🔥🔥
I LOVE how committed he is to his gimmick. Even when doing a kayfabe interview, he has the right contact in. Tommy/Malakai is honestly one of the absolute best in the business, and it's because of his meticulous attention to detail!!
Black is operating on a whole other level from most wrestlers.

Malakai the best🔥🔥🔥
Very interesting guy. Looking forward to seeing how far AEW goes with his character.
GREAT SHOW!
His entrance is up there with the Undertaker everything about this character oozes legendary.
This is why AEW is dmdo great, Their not worried about telling the viewers who the wrestlers really are, and that they are human, and not just characters.
Okay, Malakai did his due diligence when he built his character. Very impressive.
