Regardless of how some watches can go up to hundreds of thousands of dollars, I still try to encourage people to start their collection. There's a way you could start your own collection with affordable alternatives to the big brands.
I invite my good friend @TeddyBaldassarre to try some of my O'Leary wine, as well as to bring affordable alternative watches for every watch from MY collection, to show you how you could start your own collection sooner than you may think!
I love how Teddy steps in every now and then to say "these are not cheap, they are aspirational pieces for people out there" just so we don't get bummed out by Kevin treating a $2000 watch like a dollar tree one
That FTX Money. :D
He does it on purpose lol
That's just Kevin's shtick. If you watch some other videos with Kevin he actually offers up some decent suggestions in the sub-$2500 price range
Pocket change for him
TBF this is the idiot that once said a Grand Seiko is the best watch you can get for under 2k.... Guy is delusional, and has no knowledge of real everyday people with tiny incomes in comparison to them. Also doesn't seem to have much knowledge on a lot of stuff he's seen talking about, such as watches.
Honestly appreciate Kevin just coming out and forbidding anyone from buying the hyped pieces in secondary markets. Some people really needed to hear that.
I feel like Kevin has been exiting who he used to be at Shark Tank back in the day. Ever since he realized he had an audience in the younger demographics, he had started learning about how life is for ordinary people (and I bet that helps with refining his investment philosophy as well). Recently I've found that even though he remains wealthy, his ideologies are getting closer and closer to the ground by the day.
It is not so much that they are hyped. People just like them as watches and want them. The demand has grown but the manufacturers capacity has not and they are unwilling to make a big increase in capacity in the short term as they want to ride it out.
Someone will never get at a similar point to his (speaking of wealth) by overpaying on this kind of things
Wish I saw this video sooner before dropping 90k on my Ulysse Nardin
@@bighands69 I'd argue this is not the case. Brands like Rolex have learned well form other prestige brands like Ferrari at how you can artificially limit supply to drive up demand and profitability. Most retailers are complaining about not being able to get inventory, that isn't because capacity is stretched thin... its because they can't get watches to sell in the first place.
I really love how Kevin has not lost his appreciation of less expensive watches and especially loves a good dial no matter the price point
Got something profitable to introduce you to
I also love that he doesn't brush of cheaper options in a previous video he even said a watch that cost a little over one thousand USD said looked nicer then some watches that cost more than a hundred thousand dollars
@@mint_au he’s faking it lol. He thinks it’s cheap junk…just doesn’t want to say
@@chexnfx7161 unless he told you that directly it's not hard to believe he genuinely appreciates a good looking watch. The man wears Grand Seiko he knows and enjoys a good looking and well built timepiece. Of course he'll go with the more expensive watches but who wouldn't if they could?
@@chexnfx7161 Cheap junk is all the stuff that didn't make the cut. You think Teddy would bring cheap junk to Kevin? You think Kevin would hesitate to call him out on it?
What a gentleman Kevin is. Appreciating the more affordable pieces despite him having some of the best ones in the world. Class act.
He's still a scammer
Yeah great actor😂 He is so full of himself
Are you having a laugh? He’s an absolutely odious character
I really appreciate these videos. It's nice to see someone with this much money not turning into a watch snob but instead encouraging people to start their collection at all price points. You can also tell his enthusiasm for watches no matter their price. Love this. As someone just starting their career as an attorney, I've gone watch-less because I'm embarrassed to put on anything that isn't luxury, but it's nice to see there are pieces I can proudly wear as I work my way toward more grail level watches. Thank you.
Teddy is so incredibly knowledgeable. Can listen to him for hours. Such a resource.
TeddyGPT
This is the kind of video that we love to see from you guys. Showing top level watches and then for us, the viewers, a real good substitute that can actually be bought. As you probably know 99 percent of your audience can't afford the top level luxury watches that you talk about, so this is the type of content that makes us happy. And Teddy is the best knowledgeable guy in the YT watch space, he is a true watch enthusiast and a respectable guy and also he has one of the cleanest online watch stores with plenty of good pieces.
great comment !

Jews selling ghoiiiis on trinkets.............
this focus on "alternatives" is something i never quite understood. nothing can really substitute the real thing
@@freen773 They're not fakes or replicas, so your point is invalid
These videos with Kevin have become far and away my favorite watch videos by a mile. When I see them pop up I get giddy. Kevin's down-to-earth and seemingly genuine reactions to the quality of timepieces far under his personal budget is really great to see. You can see how much appreciation he has for what can be done at a lower pricepoint. And Teddy you're just awesome as usual. Keep up the good work, I love it any time you two get together and talk watches.
👆👆👆
Could not agree more.
I. Getting pretty addicted as well! Just love Kevin is so down to earth and can see the quality of the affordable pieces
I absolutely love how Kevin reacts to a great dial. It truly makes me smile, this is peak appreciation right there
That Bulova deserves so much more love than it gets. Sure it's a high frequency quartz, and sure Bulova isn't what it used to be, but that watch was literally there on the moon right next to the Omega. It came to the rescue when the Omega failed! It doesn't get better than that for heritage!
No that is at h is a hommage from the one that was actually on the moon. Looks similar but technically totally different
@@ekimandersom4478well it's not like every Omega is the one that went to space either. They're all a re-issue/homage in reality, unless you manage to get one the made same year as the one the astronauts wore.
Kevin and Teddy I swear are my faves for watches, one day I want to get into those $10k+ impossible watches, but watching these vids seriously makes you collect based of value and volume almost having a collection worth as much as 1 watch. Imagine that sheesh
Kevin and Teddy together a great chemistry when talking about watches…so many insights on high end and not so high end watches 😍👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
There might be an economical turmoil but there is no doubt that this is still the best time to invest.
Best time to invest? thats funny though because in the last four months I have lost more than $47,900 in stock market which is the biggest I have loss since I ventured into stock investment.
you could be right or wrong depends on your expertise, I once made such loss when i invested thinking i have gathered enough trading skills from youtube videos
now its a different ball game for me because I was lucky to have met TERESA JENSEN WHITE, a financial manager and stock expert, I have made more than $165,000 in 6 weeks under her supervisions.
Really? people are cashing in from the stock market and frankly speaking its comforting seeing someone admit to the fact that they actually seek help from professionals. please how can i reach TERESA ?
search her name on the internet to reach her
This video adds so much value to aspiring watch collectors like myself. “The watch market has left many people behind” I’d probably the best line in the video. Thank you Kevin for recognizing that as it inherently makes many of us feel “less than” when even thinking about collecting watches. XOXO
By far my favorite on shark tank. Kevin always tells it like it is. I really liked the relaxed atmosphere of the two of them just chatting about watches. The knowledge that these two have is incredible.
Affordable? Hehe.. After owning a GMT and OP for almost 10 years I wanted to get myself a Hulk for my 60th birthday, about 2 weeks later I came across a page about high end clones and decided to give it a try. Once came I compared it to my original GMT (in terms of quality, feeling of the steel etc), I understood one thing, China can't be beaten. There is no chance ANYONE will be able to spot it as a fake, Even the inside movement is identical. The build quality and finish put a lot of legitimate Swiss brands to shame.
Where did you get it from? Asking for a friend 😂😂
Sweetyclones
Thanks!! On Instagram??

What about resale value?
Really great video Kevin and Teddy! It’s great to hear about watches outside the mainstream, with as much quality and pedigree.
This is like 21st century window shopping for me. Cause I will never be able to afford these but love Kevin’s enthusiasm for watches.
These are very interesting videos, and I've learned a lot. Great to have Teddy as a guest. He really knows fine watches.
Just found this channel and love it. I've been collecting watches since the mid 70's. Having grown up in other countries i was able to get stuff that wasn't available in North America. Maybe one day they would feature some of my collection.
LOVE THESE. Clicked on it right when I saw it. Please never stop this series😂
Teddy and Kevin have a nice dynamic. I appreciate Kevin telling us to not buy from the secondary market. Even a wealthy man like him knows how ridiculous the prices are for some of these pieces
I just love listening to you guys and you complement each other perfectly!
Kevin, as in sure you already know, your collection is absolutely wonderful, but that Monthblanc you pulled out at the end blew me away. I can never even hope to afford something like that but it is absolutely stunning and being a red guy myself i agree it will look outstanding on a red band, but i would even be happy with it on the factory band, that red stitching is very well done. Love you and Teddy both and the passion that you guys bring to the watch collecting community and i am so happy to be a part of it.
I have to say watching Kevin talk about watches has completely changed my mind about him. In shark tank he did come across as not the nicest person. But that just shows how you can't judge a person without knowing him better. These talks with Teddy show how much passion he has for the things he loves. Please keep these collab videos coming I can't get enough!
He's there to make money not be nice
Really...google "o'leary boating accident"...he'll be back on your shit list in no time.
It shocking what Kevin seams to think is "affordable" sometimes :\
@@Koen030NL well he's a multi millionaire isn't he? Anything is affordable for him.
@@Ninjamlm exactly. I hate how it’s a trend now days to be mad at wealthy people for simply existing. I’m by no means well off but I don’t hate somebody for having millions or billions
In the past, we were able to save up and get our semi-grail watches, but now with the hype pieces going to the stratosphere, these alternatives offer a great value. I hope that the prices go down to earth a bit, but I don't see them going back to MSRP ever.
Kevin and Teddy are so good together. Love watching you guys from over here across the pond in Bristol.
I own an Aikon from Maurice lacroix, it was my first ‚more expensive watch‘ I absolutely love it. I would recommend it to everyone. I actually got a lot of compliments for it from people also owning an AP. The dial is just something else
These vids are fascinating. His price expectations are so coloured by high luxury pieces he constantly overestimates the price of great, well made affordable pieces by huge margins, and hes so surprised when you tell him what they cost 😁👍. I know you dont sell them, but I'd love to see his reaction to a San Martin.
S.m are so sweet too and make some really high quality pieces in the 400+ range.but even their entry watches are great 👍 👌
Was curious what the affordable alternative to an F. P. Journe would be. Also felt the Tissot PRX would've been a better alternative to the Royal Oak is it has its own characteristics and is less homage and more affordable than the Lacroix. All in all, great video. You two have real chemistry.
@рiппеd Ьy Кеviп О' Leaгу be gone bot
the prx is a really good alternative to VC overseas
@@akshayvasisht -- Yes, or even the VC 222
I got it about 6 months ago and I should say that PRX is the best watch money can buy, no doubt about it. I'm just waiting for the release of the gorgeous panda dial PRX Chronograph.
@@Jack.Napier I got the green dial prx powermatic a week ago. Its a perfect watch. Like it more than my more expensive ones
Always great to see the variety to get a sense of what you like. 😊👍
This was a great conversation to listen in on. Thanks for doing these videos with Teddy! Please keep em coming.
Hamilton and Longines are honestly indisputable value kings in their sub 1000 to about 3000 dollar price range. Both of them established themselves in there so comfortably. Both have incredible offerings, both do have their own personality. It's so good to see.
Correct
tissot?
@@harryyyyyyyyyyy7273 tissot . Prx new one is nice . I'm getting that . Powermatic 80 . Ice blue dial
@@martinattwood7801did you get it? So hard to find it
@@aviaryan not yet . Probably Xmas.
My Choice is Orient, automatic. I have been using this watch for almost a year with unbelievable precision
Amazing, I watched this with interest as I want to buy a watch for everyday use to save my Omega. After this great presentation I think I will be looking closer at the Tissot range.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoy both yours and Teddys perspective on watches. I think it would be great to have Mr Wondeful compare and identify the higher cost knock offs to his real collection!
It's refreshing to hear someone who HAS all the insane heavy hitters, say, it is absolutely ridiculous to buy on the secondary market. It's almost a recant of those pieces as "investments". Hard to fathom being able to obtain all the pieces he has at regular retail. The Montblanc Minerva Centograph is beautiful. Well. done.
Not only that but also giving praise to some of these "cheaper" alternatives, definitely nice to hear that you can get something nice and worth your money without completely breaking the bank
When I went to the Italian island of Capri, I bought a watch (from a shop called Capri) for 299 euros and I love it. People often tell me it looks like a watch that would cost over 1000 dollars. Capri isn’t a very well known luxury watch brand so I guess people assume I’m rich and have a very expensive watch
Is it decorated with colorful stones by any chance?
Great video. Giving me some ideas for my next watch…though I keep ending up finding new Tissots that I like - I think the best value on the market!
Love these videos! Need more asap
Tissot PRX for the Royal Oak would also have been a great pick imo
Longines are SERIOUSLY underpriced and it's a very cool brand with heritage and history. I am amazed the Swatch Group do not hold back production and make these again THE desirable watch as they once were. I am a huge Longines fan.
Can never get enough of the two of you guys together

Love the way Kevin talks about watches.
Great video & loved the affordable selections. If Bulova put out a slightly smaller moonwatch, say 40 to 42 mm, those would fly off the shelves. They could do like the military does & call it "Moonwatch Block II".
Absolutely love these collabs. You both should go watch hunting in LA like the collab you both did in Miami. Great perspectives.
Very good video about watch alternatives, love the Hamilton one. Your knowledge of watches surpasses your knowledge of wine, or at least on how hold a wine glass..😊

Wonderful pieces. I just don‘t think that the Oris is the best choice, though, I‘d rather go for a Tudor. The Hamilton has a killer dial. And the Montblanc/Minerva at the end was a surprise as well, very interesting dial and case back.
If your suggesting a black bay 58, they are now also hard to find and expensive. I think Oris is a good choice. Really bang for your buck choice. In house movement, good dial, independent.
@@anbsmxms8 You may be right. Personally, I‘d go for Omega Seamaster - but that‘s a personal preference. Hamilton offers great watches for the price - I don‘t own one (yet), an Montblanc has very nice dials, especially for business / dress watches.
Zodiac Seawolf anyone?
This duo is fantastic as always.
Just got my first Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and will be purchasing my next AP in Skeleton with Tourbillon movement! My collection has just begun.
A better affordable Submariner alternative than the Oris is the Tudor Black Bay 58. I have both a BB58 and a pre-ceramic Sub, and they wear very similar on the wrist.
I'd think the Invicta Pro Diver automatic should have been considered
yessir. Blue dial blue bezel my fav
I got the Tissot Seastar 2000 for 1000$, ceramic dial, sapphire glass, 600m ISO certified and 80h power reserve. The design is also extremely close to the Submarines, with a nice touch that you can get a subtle green or blue shade in the dial which looks dope. I feel like this is the best value alternative.
It would have been nice to see some really shameless homages thrown into the mix here. Teddy is just too proud to do it 😂. Something that immediately comes to mind is the Steinhart Ocean One as an alternative for the Submariner. It’s a high quality piece that you would have to look at from 3 feet or less to tell that it isn’t a sub. The Seiko “Seitona” could have been a better affordable alternative for the Daytona as well. For the Nautilus, could have gone for a Formex perhaps or something else with a more similar case shape to the Nautilus. Or a Ball, with their engineer bracelet. The Tissot Ballade and the Aikon were spot on. 👌 Those probably would be my choices for the datejust and AP as well. Overall, loved the collab, as always! Kevin - you and Teddy have both really inspired me to get into collecting as a hobby and loving watches. Still some of my favorite videos on KZhead when you guys get together. I need a bottle of O’Leary fine wine next time I’m showing someone my watch box.
Or even not so nice homages. I bought a Reginald Submariner homage for about $43, that A) keeps better time than my real Submariner, B) has a crystal that doesn't scratch like my Submariner does, and c) that I don't panic when I can't find it and temporarily misplace it. It's shower waterproof and that's probably about it, but I just take it off when I'm going diving and put my Casio dive watch on.
@@ralphholiman7401 Exactly! I own a few Pagani Design homages for around $100-$140. Automatic, stainless steel, ceramic bezel, 100M water resistance. I understand that that level of homage is basically the antithesis of what Teddy promotes in terms of "real value" propositions on the market. But, for the price.... candidly it's hard to beat the value.
Yeh I was hoping for the Steinhart too. But I had it on my wrist so I just looked down. The quality still blows me away
Amazing video Kevin, I’d love to see more of these. I thought Tudor would appear as the alternative to the submariner!
Love your insight. Great list. Thanks for sharing.
the Christopher Ward c60 or the Oris Aquis should've been the Sub alternative. and the Formex Essence is an outstanding option for the RO or Nautilus alternative
The oris aquis was the sub alternative..
@@meandab and @Fmart Mart there is no need to argue. I have researched for both watches (I'm a dress watch guy, so to say that I "researched" for a dive watch means a lot) and let me just say to be fair, the CW Trident series look better on the dial, looking sick with the minute markers and the trident hand, but the Oris offers better selection of colors, also has slightly superior heritage. In another words if you want the sub to be white or black, you might want to go CW, but if you want blue, green, red (the one I researched for specifically was Oris Cherry), Oris' play with color is top 5 in my books, only behind brands more prestigious than it such as H Moser.
@@harrislam Oris has vastly superior heritage to CW. CW was founded in 2004 and it could be argued they don't even have any meaningful watch heritage at all.
@@SCTitan06 I do consider CW having zero heritage, but I only consider Oris having a little bit. When was the last time ppl discuss about which watch to buy and someone brings up "but Oris has great history as a brand'? That happens to something like Hamilton. Not Oris.
@@harrislam then you need to expand who you talk to. Oris was founded in 1904, even before Rolex. That's 118 years of great brand history and heritage. Period.
Why you gotta go & take of that gorgeous integrated bracelet of that AP Kev... You probably got Genta turning in his grave. But that's still way better than drilling it & putting some aftermarket diamonds on it
He can't go into anything without a rubber on
@@derekwalter4238 that's what she said😂😂😂
Teddy has such great knowledge. Much appreciated.
Like watching these 2 talk watches. Kevin has all the money in the world and respects the watches that everyone can afford, a true enthusiast.
Such an exciting video. I’d love to see more alternatives to luxury watches videos.
sure, and an alternative to being a billionaire is being a millionaire? this is becoming silly now. the idea of a luxury is that it's not available to the vast majority of people. so, affordable is never an alternative to luxury by definition. once it's affordable, it's not luxury.
I would say that the Tissot Prx Powermatic 80 is even a better alternative to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak than the Maurice Lacroix Aikon
°°°°°°°°°°°°
No, I own both Tissot Prx and ML Aikon, I love ML Aikon more than Tissot Prx - especially when wearing it, it's gorgeous

Great video as always, but you don't need to get a watch that seems like another, there are plenty of choices with their own character, very unique and more or less affordable, like Rado Captain Cook, the Victorinox INOX or the Hamilton Khaki. From this list I recommend the Bulova Lunar Pilot, a true Apolo heir that even replace Scott's broken Omega up there, on the moon.
I really liked the Tissot and Bulova. Good pieces with good price tag on.
I am almost laughing out loud when Kevin goes ”woooow” after hearing Teddy reveals the price on the watches 😂 Funny every time! Golden ❤️
