Mother dog bleeding from glass cut rescued.

A mother of 6 puppies had been cut by a piece of glass and was heavily bleeding in the pile of trash that was her den. She healed after 2 weeks at Animal Aid and it was time for her to go home... but first we had a lot of cleaning to do!

    • Have you been to India? It's overcrowded and poor. I'm sure they either don't have the resources or the drivers g already had an owner and home but not the money to take care of it which is why they brought it back to its home.

    • karolinuke i see, you must not have a facilite to keep animals, but you are wonderful people to help. you might want to contact a USA rescue called HOPE for PAWS, they have gone to other countries to help . they are honorable people who could help you find homes for yours maybe. i just saw them go to Costa RIca and helped a group there. good luck to you and thank you for your kindness

    • Linda T Thank you everyone for your comments on this fascinating and complex rescue story. In America several million animals are killed every year for lack of adopting homes. In India, that would be completely against the law. India has the highest regard for the sanctity of life but, and although India has little tradition of street dog adoption as we think of adoption in the west, there often IS community involvement in the care of street dogs. They are often fed and spoken to, but they aren’t allowed in the homes. This beautiful dog was saved because the men in the store called us immediately when she was hurt. It was less than an hour previous. Her body condition and coat is good, she has been fed, she is friendly and has never been abused. So although she is not inside a private home, she does have caring people around her. If you think of this as something similar to wildlife release, it is a little easier to understand. Animal Aid is one of only 3 small rescue centers in a state of 70 million people and each of these 3 shelters are full, and each perform street dog sterilization and rabies inoculation to all female dogs who are admitted for wounds or illnesses, unless they are late pregnancies or lactating. We now have a strong relationship with the men who feed this mother dog, so it will be possible for Animal Aid to spay her and the puppies when the puppies are old enough. Also a word about her den there…now that it is cleaned up it is a good safe place for her to protect the babies.     • Erika Abrams i understand now. i didn't realize street dogs were cared for in this way. few here would do this, and we don't have enough rescue organizations to get them all, but we try hard. but we have monsters like some other countries that fight them or sell them to labs for cruel experiments. that is why i was concerned you returned her to the street, but by your reply i am thankful that doesn't happen there.     • sherri nicholas i''m a little far away , but when i asked that question it was before Erika & Karolinuke explained to me that in her country they are taken care of on the street. my questions were sincere, i just didn't understand the difference there how they are treated much better. in my country we have many kind organizations that rescue, foster and adopt street animals but without those kind people street dogs usually starve or are mistreated. so you see i was not being judgmental of these wonderful people , i just didn't know about their cultural treatment of these street dogs

    • Unfortunately, In India the rich "buy" pets from the pet store. Adoption isn't a big thing here. The local shops and establishments and homes unofficially adopt a lot of strays in certain areas. In my own street there are 15 dogs from one litter that my building and me feed and take care of. The population of dogs in India also makes it difficult to adopt.
