The scary thing is that, as much this video is extremely well done and absolutely a masterpiece, it only captures a fraction of the things that have to be seen in Italy. In fact, if I had to define my own top-20 there would only be 2/3 things shown in this video and the others would be different ones. From Caserta palace to porto venere, from Mantua and Ravenna to Gradara, from Todi and Gubbio to Orvieto. From Tivoli to Anagni. From Pavia and Padua and the scrovegni chapel to Bergamo and Brescia. From the Venetian Palladian villas to Anagni and the from All the incredible mediaeval villages in Abruzzo missing, many incredible islands such as Marettimo, Elba or Caprera archipelago missing. Lecce and all the Sicilian barocco region missing. Selinunte and Segesta and incredible. Trapani is lovey. And so on and on and on. All world-class places of invaluable quality
Agree and also Noto, Ragusa and Modica PLUS in Trapani Castellammare del Golfo, Scopello and SO much more . He did great for the 3 minutes on Sicily in my opinion!

I met an Italian gentleman in the late 1980s on a flight from Rio to NY, and he said something I will always remember. He mentioned many Americans mentioned to him how "decadent" Italy was, and his answer inevitably was -"you are right, Italy is decadent, and has been 'decadent' for 2,000 years. However, can your country be decadent for 2,000 years and be as great as Italy is now"?
Some wise words 🤯
He must be illiterated. Italy was EVERYTHING but decadent in the last 2000 years: Medieval age, age of the city states (Comuni), Maritime republics, age of the discoveries and sailors, Humanism, Renaissance, Baroque etc. etc. going on producing the most astounding culture in Europe both in quantity and quality. They "invented" western music, the modern theatre, Opera, modern science (Galileo), the modern painting etc. etc. etc.
Oh well, the Americans are the ones who have defined Michelangelo's David as porn. Hahahaha..
@@hazhoner5727decadent is related to Italy being old and left untouched...and somehow still standing....we don't make our city pretty for tourists...we just leave them as they are.. in Greece i felt that most villages looked fake.just saying😅

As an italian I really enjoyed this video, very well done and informative with excellent drone takes. Totally agree!!!! Nice video
I do not understand why all programs about Italy, including Francesco Da Mosto, who should know better ignore the greenest region of Italy, with two national parks where one can find bears , wolves and golden eagles and the highest mountain in the Appenine, the Gran Sasso. 2912m unspoiled Abruzzo, WHY!

I never expected that Italy 🇮🇹 this so beautiful
we have more UNESCO sites than any other country in the world
Geographically Italy is a long peninsula in the middle of a big pool called Mediterranean Sea, with a well defined shape. Back then it was strategical for everyone to own a place in this piece of land, so lot of moneys and lot of culture made this place totally outstanding. Every 50 Kms in Italy there's something cool to see, specially in very small and traditional villages. Fantastic water and Unesco Mountains (Dolomites are defined by climbers the most beautiful mountains in the world) makes the rest
Wise words, I never thought of it that way but makes sense. So much endless beauty and history
I was fortunate enough to live on Sicily for a while, and it stole a big piece of my heart. The scenery, the culture and people, the food...just EVERYTHING was incredible.
Wow that’s amazing you lived there. I agree with you about the food, some of the best pizza I’ve ever had! What part of Sicily was your favorite?
@@RyanShirley that is a tough question because each area has it’s own unique charm. I think the Catania province would have to be my favorite for long term simply due to the fact that there is such a great mix of things available. There’s large cities and small towns, beaches , and of course Etna for a “mountain” feel with atv-ing and hiking, etc. I haven’t felt more at home anywhere else I’ve been so far purely because of the people. We road tripped the island a few times and never met a stranger. People often overlook Sicily due to the mainland being the primary attractor for tourists, but its history and unique culture are definitely worth a visit.
I remember that time we drove over the Stelvio Pass with 3 children in a manual car! We were trying to cross into Italy (Lake Como) from Austria ( Imst) and realized we forgot our passports! Worried about getting checked at the Swiss border, we ended up taking a mountain road across 3 countries, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable and scenic drives we've ever done in our life! Will probably do it again but definitely without the kids next time. 😆

How much beauty in such a small country, incredible! Unfortunatly you skipped the beautiful Le Marche region (ranked second in the world in places to visit for the Lonely Planet guide in 2020). On your next trip I recommend you to visit it, there are wonderful places such as: Urbino, the Conero Riviera, the Frasassi Caves, Loreto, the Sibillini mountains, the Lame Rosse, Ascoli Piceno. A correction on Montepulciano, because 99% of tourists get this wrong: Montepulciano does not produce Montepulciano wine, Montepulciano is a grape grown mainly in Abruzzo, the main wine of Montepulciano is called Nobile di Montepulciano and the grape used is Sangiovese. A hug.

The stunning fact is that you mention just a relatively small part of the Italian beauties! Try Trieste in the east, Bergamo and Brescia, Cremona in Lombardy, try Marmore Waterfalls or the Gran Sasso Mountain, or even Orvieto, Gaeta, Pesaro, Elba Island, Mount Argentario and many other places! Ryan, it's so hard to make a top 100 places list of Italy if you're not italian, and you did a great job. Thanks for sharing this. I've been many many times in Val Gardena (Trentino Alto Adige), a place that I've deeply loved since I was a child. It's the valley between Seceda, Sassolungo and Passo Gardena. You have definetly been blessed to see Seceda in that way, with those evocative clouds. It's always an amazing place, but that was literally out of the world.
When you are around Verona I suggest you to pass a day in Mantua (Lombardy region), one of the main centres of the Renaissance, you can find the Basilica di Sant'Andrea, Palazzo Te and the Duchal Palace of the Gonzaga family (the 6th largest palace in Europe). In the Veneto region there are countless cultural wonders like Vicenza, Padua, Treviso, Bassano del Grappa, Valeggio sul Mincio, the walled towns of Cittadella and Montagnana. I hope these names can give you some ideas for the next destinations. Good job!

가슴이 떨릴 정도로 너무나 멋진 마을들 이네요! 모두 처음 보는 곳인데.. 코로나가 끝나면 꼭 가보고싶습니다. Happy new year

I'd love to live in Corea instead. Waiting for you here in Italy!
@@carlolarena3469 Dalla scrittura è Coreano ed è stato molto gentile nel suo commento! :)
I definitely suggest Cilento National Park! Lots of landscapes, towns, food, nature, beaches, caves, mountains
My favorite country in the world!!!. If I could live there I would!!,, santa Maria de castellabate!!! Ischia!!!. Just love it,,, Definitely think I was there in a former life 😉
Hi Ryan, This video is just amazingly beautiful I was there just before covid 19 as part of a tour from Greece with 45 Greeks 1 American and me 1 Mexican American and in 9 days I had one of the best times of my life . I can not wait to go back there on my own this time and rent a car my favorite city has to be Florence as well although I loved Rome, The Vatican and wonderful memories from every place we visited . I honestly never imagine there was so much more to see until I sow your video. Thank you.
Amo Itália, imagens maravilhosas, ganhou uma fã . Obrigada pelo vídeo. Elizabeth de Brasil São Paulo. 👍👋💟
Beautiful places . Nice video Ryan ✨
Great video but there are lots of amazing places you've left out (Ravenna, Mantua, Trieste, Viterbo, Arezzo, Lucca, Urbino,Padova, le Marche region, Gran Sasso mountain and Campo Imperatore in Abruzzo region etc). As an Italian I realize it's an impossible task to cover all the wonders we have. I was surprised you visited the Prosecco area.....hardly anyone knows even in Italy how beautiful it is. Great job 👍👍👍
One day I’ll make a top 1000 video of Italy 😅
@@RyanShirley LOL such a wise joke
As an Italian boy from Florence, I thank you for the words you said. unfortunately many foreigners are unable to fully appreciate Italy, but you have honored us with this video.
Thanks so much mate! I love your country!
@@RyanShirley
Thanks Ryan for this excellent quality video! And thanks for reminding the world that Italy is much more than typical Rome or Venice. Literally beauty is everywhere and a lifetime is probably not enough to visit it all. Sono fiero del mio paese!
Thanks so much Larry! I agree, you could spend your whole life exploring Italy! 🇮🇹
Ooooooh, finalmente uno che non si lamenta!! Sei un grande!! Anch'io sono fiero di essere italiano e non vorrei essere in nessun altro posto al mondo se non qui.
Fantastic work Ryan! I love these long videos. Keep up the great work :)
Thanks so much Stef!! Got any new videos coming out soon?
@@RyanShirley Hopefully at the end of the month! Are you traveling now?
Well can yall come get me
This video has been a god send as im about to embark on first ever visit to Europe with the main course being italy.
What parts of Italy do you want to visit most?
I'm living in Siena for 5 months now to study here and I absolutely love it. I've had the opportunity to visit many stunning places in Italy like you. I hope to see many more places in the future
Wow, I can't think of a better place to study! So jealous you live there.
Very nice video, beautiful work. Italy is magical.
Thanks Dalibor
Tashi Delek and Namaste 🙏 to all ! Looks like heaven on earth . My dream country to visit Switzerland 🇨🇭 Italy 🇮🇹 Paris 🇫🇷 London 🏴 Spain 🇪🇸 Ireland 🇮🇪 this are my list hopefully one day I’ll make it before I die.
Hope you can visit them all!
Sometimes we forget how much beautiful is our country. I’m italian, but every day I discover something new to visit and to love. Thank you for your video. ☺️
Of course! You're from such a incredible land
I had the great privilege of living on the northern tip of Sardinia for 2 1/2 years. What an experience!!
No way! Got a favorite place to swim in Sardinia?
@@RyanShirley My wife and I lived between the Island of LaMaddalena and in Palau, on the Sardinia side. There are so many great places, but the tiny island of Caprera had so many of those deep, crystal clear pools that you could jump off the rocks into. That was one of my favorite spots. Baia Trinita beach on LaMaddalena was probably my favorite beach, because it had true sand vs. the tiny pebbles that most of the beaches in the area had.
as an Italian I have to say that this video was amazing, you showed all the beauty of a country in 50 minutes, really congratulations, with excellent drone takes and also the 100 places you chose.
sono brasiliano e ammiro molto l'italia. Il suo paesaggio e gli edifici sono bellissimi. Non sono mai stato in questo bellissimo paese, ma dalle foto, penso che sia fenomenale. Perdonami per gli errori grammaticali.
I need to visit your country! What part of Brazil are you from?
Non c’è nessun errore, è tutto perfetto! Complimenti!!!
Grazie per averci ricordato quanto è bello il nostro Paese, la prossima volta che vieni in Sardegna passa anche da Cagliari
Thanks so much Donatella! I need to explore Cagliari next time. Are you from there?
Great video, thank you! Just a remark: I see no videos of Marche and Abruzzo, two amazing regions of Italy; maybe not the most famous and popular but they absolutely worth a visit especially if you want to avoid excessively tourism places! Bravo!
Incredibly beautiful Italy! Love from India 😍
Thanks so much mate!
What beautiful footages and what wonderful recommendations! Thank you very much Ryan. ❤ Italy is really having everything---- Majestic Mountains; Gorgeous Lakes; Spectacular Coastlines; Magnificent Architectures, Resplendent Arts; Fabulous Gardens; Fascinating Countrysides, and a Great History. I am very much looking forward to visit this country. 😃
Aveti gusturi impecabile! Multumesc mult ca impartasiti toate astea cu oameni care nu vor putea niciodata sa vada asemenea frumuseti "life".😍👍❤
Fantastic video! It's impossible to choose only one place; Italy is amazing. I've only been in Rome, but I'd like to visit Cinque Terre, Sardinia, Amalfi and many others;)
Thanks so much friend! So excited for you to see more of Italy, especially places like Sardinia and Amalfi :)
I was there 4 years ago, and I fell in love with this country and hoping to go back next year
Where was your favorite place you visited?
@@RyanShirley Rome, Tuscany, Venice, Florence, cinque Terra, pisa, Naples, everywhere was my favorite place. Hard to choose
Your videos are fantastic, great quality in every aspect. I am Italian and I have to say I visited half of the places you showed… thank you for this work, really, it is useful for who want to visit Italy and a lesson for us (Italians) that so often despise our beautiful country.
Thanks so much friend! That’s awesome your from Italy! Is there any other places you recommend that weren’t in this video?
Thank you for beautiful comment ❤
I've commented on this before but upon re-watching, I gotta say this video does incredible Italy justice more than any other video on KZhead! When friends ask for tips on travelling Italy I send them this!
Thanks so much brother!! Where’s your favorite place?
@@RyanShirley Grazie mille a te! Look, it's hard to pin down a favourite in Italy.. Ischia brings back a lot of memories and is an ideal island.. as for the Dolomites, I'm planning to hike there this September and your footage in the mountains is the best thing I've ever seen. I'm planning to allow about 9 days for the Dolomites and Lake Garda. Whats your top spot? Sardinia I feel ;)
Great list! As an italian, I approve of this video. You should go to my favorite city, Sperlonga. I've been going there every summer since I was a kid, and it never gets old. The town and the beach are just so incredible. I also recommend going to Lake Bracciano, Tivoli (there's a beautiful and perfectly preserved roman villa of emperor Adrian you can visit) and Ostia Antica, which is as preserved as Pompeii. (Yeah, as you noticed I'm doing publicity to my region Lazio 😂) Thank you and Happy new Year!
Wow, I've never heard of any of these places! I haven't really explored much of Lazio outside of Rome so I definitely want to visit all these places. Thanks for all the recommendations! :)
Oh my god sperlonga is a JEWELLLLLLL, and Gaeta as a well
@@RyanShirley Ahhh, Italy "never gets old", so much to see and do, a millennia would not last for sure, never mind a lifetime as a saying goes (for Rome anyway). Thanks for the videos Ryan. Complimenti!
Aeee sperlonga è stupenda che spiagge e che mare ci sono stato questa estate ( sono di Napoli ) wagliu spettacolo tutta l Italia ( Mantova, Verona, Firenze , Venezia, la Sicilia la Puglia insomma tutto)
Lazio!. We come from Veroli and Supino.
Oh man, as an Italian I really enjoyed your video. I left Italy 10 years ago and watching this I now miss Italy. It’s a beautiful country and you did an incredible job doing this video. Just the pronunciation of the cities and locations it’s not the proper one but, well done really!!!
