@@geoffreydeibel in my opinion I would rather save for a 911 because that would feel more special to me and its a 911 I dream of not a boxster plus in the back of my mind I would always be thinking "if only this was a 911" if you want to buy a rolex save for a rolex don't get a sekio cause its cheaper. If you want a boxster fair play but I personally think its not even close to the 911 range.

The fixed key start is in all Porsche because in 24 hour Le Mans you run to your car (literally ) get in start the car (on the left) and begin the race. I love my Porsche and the nod to the past, racing. They are rock solid perfection. If you want it louder....after market exhaust.

And faster than the other cars she mentioned. Being the loudest doesn't equate to speed. Porsche is fast when it matters, when the car is moving. Others look fast and are fast. Just not as fast as the 911 Turbo.

It’s not about how showing off how much money or how many vents and flaps. People who understand Porsche will instantly recognise that it is a turbo s and any other model and will appreciate it for what it is.
She does not understand Porsche - and especially the 911 - at all. And a true fan will always see if it's a base Carrera or a GT3 or a Turbo. If you need to show-off, there are plenty of other cars. A 911 is a masterpiece of German engineering, precision and quality.

There is a soft limiter, that's why the car doesn't sound "dramatic" when not moving... The cup in the glove compartment is an ashtray.... The button on the left of the steering wheel is an hommage to how Porsche always had the key hole on the left side of the steering wheel so that the driver could start the key with one hand as they put it into gear with the other... Pure German efficiency...
yea the key set up was for the racing driver, to cut time as they ran to their cars in La Mans, this reviewer knows nothing about porsche!

Fully agree with you Joe, « ..any other car or 911 or.. » is a bit extreme. Design never changed over the years, but technology, reliability, evolution of the car were just lunar, at a point that I keep wondering what will be next after the sensational 911 type 992! And again as you mentioned, why would they need to be loud and show off like some Italien bombs, when whatever the horse or bull you have on your front side, you will just look the 992TS passing unavoidably.

The integrated start key is a blink to the legendary sport era. They were integrated on the left hand side because back in those days, the race drivers had to run to the care while starting an putting in first gear. With the starter key at the left they could put the car in first gear with their right hand while starting with their left hand so they saved a couple of seconds.
Exactly! And they used to run to the cars at 24h Le Mans, started the car with the left hand and with the right hand they put the 1st gear!!

It doesn't have to "scream" it, just offer the buyers something that stands out a little. Its literally the same exact body as every other 911. Add a wider body kit, or do something more special with the taillights- just something that can differentiate it without the badge.

I love old classic 911 turbo but this one is better. I love this one more. Great car.
That’s cool. It activates your foot muscles for a couple seconds, to warm up your muscles for the longer drive.
To me, the sleeper effect is a big selling point for me. Its loads of fun to pull up to a tree and the guy in the next lane has no idea whether he's going to leave me in the dust, or get a good look at my tail lights as they vanish into the distance.

The thing is you don't need a 2.0 second car to leave 99% of the entire population in the dust. The "sleeper" effect only works when you pay "sleeper" prices for it. Like a Supra beating an unsuspecting Ferrari. Not gonna lie, I have to agree with her. A 200K Porsche that looks like every other Porsche in the world- is not a great selling point. It works because Porsche has somehow made that part of their charm, and people (like you) buy into it. Nothing wrong with that I guess, just seems a little silly.

The WHOLE point of the 911 is that it is almost the perfect car, usable EVERY day almost practical, and you don't get hassled by idiots with camera phones asking personal questions or stopping you to take photos of your car - especially if it is de-badged. Personally I'm partial to the Targa as in my opinion it is a purer design and almost has the look of proper evolution. And, come on that roof/ glass rear section mechanism is a work of art.
Nah the understated feeling is what makes the Porsche different than other super sports cars.
Your downside (model designation deletion) is *precisely* what I consider an upside (!) Besides, even without the "Turbo S" designation on the back, a Turbo S is unmistakeable. The spoiler, for one, is unique to these models. The "S" comes with PCCB's too. You may also find it hard to believe, but some people do not want the extra noise in these cars and have to hear it all the time. Especially if you pay extra for the Burmester stereo and have to go through quiet neighborhoods. Sport exhaust must remain an option.

The start "key" on the left side is a Porsche tradition that started with their the earlest 901/911 and was engineered that way for LeMans race cars many years ago when the drivers lined up and when signaled ran to the car jumped in put it in gear with their right hand and turned the key with their left hand. Essentially they could get the car started and in gear and going faster They stopped this practice because to many drivers attempting to get a fast start weren't putting on their seat belts.
