Porsche 911 Turbo S v 911 GT3: TRACK RACE
Road trips don’t get much better than this!
Mat and Racing Driver Sam are teaming up for an epic Porsche adventure. They’ve got their hands on a 911 Turbo S & GT3, and they’re setting off from the UK to the world-famous Spa-Francorchamps racing circuit!
For starters, they’ll be hitting the channel tunnel before finding out what these unique supercars are like to drive on the motorway on their way to the track. But it’s once they arrive that the fun really begins!
The question is, which car will prove the fastest on track? We all know the GT3 is built for moments like this, with its 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six producing 510hp and 470Nm. However, one thing to consider is Spa has some seriously long straights! So with that in mind, will the Turbo S and its 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six with 650hp and 800Nm prove the faster car on the day?
There’s only one way to find out - stick with Mat and Sam for this incredible road trip adventure!

@@justuraveragecunt9005 when they downsized to the 4.0 they should have gone supercharged instead of turbo. The new C63 is going to be too heavy and too fast to be a fun engaging drivers car imo.

22:00 is my favorite moment, Sam had little to no restraint accelerating and wanting to twist knobs, kicking on traction control and Mat getting concerned. Freaking love Sam❤️. Hope Sam gets convinced to get his own channel or segment for carwow

Totally agree, i personally have seen enough drag races to last me a life time and had started watching Throttle House rather than Carwow. I have never drag raced a quarter mile in my life and have no intentions of doing so. Driving down the UK into Europe, love that, loved this vid.
So, if my calculations are correct, the GT3 took 34l/100km and the Turbo S took almost 48l/100km (on Track! I almost forgot about that😅). For all the viewers who have no clue what mpg value is good or bad, like myself😂👍
I would say 28,34L/100 GT3 (9,52 at hiwhway) and 39,87L/100 Turbo S (9,48 at highway), not so correct

@@erichermann7553 In some parts of the world you use "used volume per distance unit" to describe fuel consumption (i.e. Germany), and in other parts you use "driven distance per volume unit". Is that what you mean?
My truck uses 1 gallon per 18 miles that Porsche wouldn’t make it to next gas station by 34l per 100km I tried to find spec but didn’t get anything thank u for text blessings to u

I am driving an old 996.2 GT3 and I totally agree. When I am driving on our Swiss Autobahn with 120 kmh, the sound gets annoying after 30 min. but when you are on the German Autobahn and the revs are changing constantly, it is ok. And driving it on mountain roads is a dream, especially because it is so small compared with the newer ones.

12:00 as a GT3 owner I can say that the suspension of course is stiff but is extremely bare able and the seats are comfy even on long drives. Drove for three hours straight without stopping a few days ago and felt absolutely fine when I got out. 👍 best car ever 😊

Lovely video! I enjoyed every second of it. I always thought the Turbo S would be faster than the GT3 on a fast circuit! Imagine if they were on the same tires!! Maybe that’s why we don’t have an “official” Nordschleife lap time of the Turbo S, let alone with Cup2 R tires. 🤔

The turbo S is nowhere near the GT3 in a circuit like nordschleife , or any with fast corners, the GT3 is a much more capable track car...
I was so excited to watch this made myself comfortable as if I was going for a trip with y’all! I would love to but y’all have bigger things haha, been a subscriber for a long time and will continue to be!!!
Imagine taking the immediacy and reflexes of a GT3 and combining it with the power of the Turbo. GT2 and GT2 RS owners have been enjoying that for a while...like some kind of open secret. Only the sound and immediacy isn't quite right of course, meaning the GT3 still has some amazing tricks to share with us. That's why the only right thing to do is to own both a GT3 and a GT2!

Can't believe I'm just now finding this channel. I love it. Reminds me of top gear, plus it's straight to the fun with no long opening title or music.
For me this is car review part of the show. For car challenges, I watch Car Trek on Tavarish channel and also Driven Media. Plus, the guys there have a similar chemistry to what the original trio had. Together they form the whole of top gear For me.

This is a great video as when I was buying ,I drove both of these cars and after 15 minutes in the GT3 you start to look for a chiropractor , just not ideal for daily . I love my Turbo S on and off track . 90% of the time I’m on the street .

This is probably my favorite car video ever as I really felt like I was in the car with you (a sign of great auto journalism) for both the mundane and the exhilarating sections. Please share Sams laps with Matts reactions if possible. I currently have a 992 C2S and this persuaded me to upgrade to a Turbo S one day instead of going down the GT3 Touring path...

I think the experience in the GT3 is very comparable to my 2005 Toyota Yaris with a completely worn out wheel bearing: tire noise and whining, lovely.
Would love to see what a Turbo S would do with Cup 2s and a proper geo set up.

I hope mat and sam can grow to like each other more in activities like this. Some folks dont see the tension between these two, but especially mat didnt like sam for a long time. Its nice to see them getting along a bit better now, even laugh some times!

A wonderfully enjoyable and informative comparison. Kudos to the Turbo for being such a superb all-around car. The video would have been a bloodbath if it had been the GT2 RS versus the Turbo. Not really a fair match... ;-)

Great vid. Im a Turbo S guy all day. I had the pleasure of driving a 992 Turbo S at Porsche Experience in ATL last year. Incredible experience, Turbo S does everything well. It was grey with red interior like this one
Great video Matt. I'd always take the GT3 over the Turbo as prefer high revving normally engines to Turbo's due superior throttle response and a much better sound track. The sound of that GT3 at high revs is epic.

A friend of mine once told his wife he was taking her to a spa for the weekend. You can imagine how impressed she was when he was taking his bike around the track for two days.

Amazing, great video! Respect to the Turbo - it's way too much car for most people, but you *can* daily it. I'd just have a Carrera S, personally, where I live.
992 GTS is probably the sweet spot for a road car.
@@davidmarshall6409 GTS4. But yes having driven these cars the carrera 4 GTS is the one. In reality it’s too much car for the street but if you want to go 0-60 around town and make peoples jaws drop when you take the on-ramp on the highway then GTS is the one. I’ve done the old pulling onto the highway and i intentionally wait for a quick car to catch up then show them what a real cars 5-60 is and people have pulled up behind me at the gas station (multiple times) asking what I did to “supe up” my car lol
i'm taking the gt3. The gts seems much more comfortable but the gt3 is the car I've wanted to drive since I was 7
@@esh9x153 The GT3 is the fantasy car (I had a 991.1) but the GTS is the one you'd want to drive daily. :) I'm now on the hunt for a Boxster Spyder - fun and fast!
I may be considered an old man now that I'm 23 y.o. But for some reason I really value comfort and road usability in my sports cars, but I think this is the key 🧐 If it's your only car take the Turbo S, if you already have a comfortable daily then it's 9,000 RPM time 🌚❤️🔥
I´m also 23 and got myself a Mazda MX-5 ND sport trim with the bilstein suspension and I must say that it is really comfortable and as someone that comes from a family diesel BOAT potatocar, the body roll is negligible(dont know why they say it is "soft" when it isnt). I drive every weekend a 2h trip to frankfurt to my parents and if you only have 1 car as me, it HAS TO BE comfortable enough, I wouldnt get any siff coilovers for my daily.
