FINALLY someone did it with Fimo, like holly cow, EVERYONE talking about Sculpey but no one addressed the Fimo which is completely different. THANK YOU!
Thank you for this! I have some old blocks of fimo that I bought for projects that I want to do but to this day didn't get around to do, and I was kinda afraid that I will have to trash them and buy new ones. You saved me a lot of money today!
thank you so much for explaining the different between conditioning Fimo and Sculpey - i think a lot of people have been using Vaseline with Fimo, which just makes it sticky and weird. This is one of the most useful clay tips I've ever seen on KZhead! Thank you! I have been using liquid Fimo to condition both types - is that ok?
I was just about to throw away 6 never been opened sculpey blocks. Then I came across your tutorial and I am ever so greatful❣️ thank you so very much for sharing. I really didn’t want to go out and buy those expensive conditioners. Thank you again❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thankyou SO much this is so helpful!!! Most softening/conditioning vids are only for sculpy ! Thanks
thank you so much! i juwas freaking out bc my clame came so hard and crumbly and your video saved my life (and my small business). much love ❤
We only have FIMO and have been using the water method for months... It's great! Not only that, if you add more water it will turn into cupcake icing. Not as much need for TLS or deko gel anymore! ^---^
Brilliant! i need to get my fimo out now!!! thank you for sharing xxx
Oh my god i tried this with the hard Opal i bought yesterday! I literally bought like 6 blocks of Opal and 1 of accent colors Rose gold, white gold, and yellow gold. I tried this with the opal first and it really worked!!!! Thank you sooo much!
thats the exact problem i got with opal premo xx
OMG finally something that actually works love you
Thanks! You just saved my craft class tomorrow morning!
Thank you for posting this video tip... It really brought my clay to life.... 😍😍😍
Wow! U have helped me a whole bunch! THANKS SO SO SO MUCH!
Great ideas🙏🙏🙏 love this video ❤very helpful! Thnxx
I'm so happy I didn't throw away my clay blocks, thank you for this. Family put my clay box in the direct sun for TWO *WEEKS* an then lost it in the mounds of stuff in the trailers as we were moving at the time. So I finally got my box again after nearly three years. 800$ worth of polymer clay, some of the clays are practically unavailable now.
This is amazing! Thank you 🇬🇧
Thanks! It is so helpful!
Thank you for clarifying that for me. I want sure if it was a reliable tip to do the leeching so it is good to know that it can be done if I ever need to. I hope you are having a blessed day!
Thank you so so much. Saved my life! Love you
Thank you so much for telling the difference between conditioning Fimo Clay and Sculpey. This is such useful clay tips Thank you But would I use the Vaseline to condition Premo clay?
Omg thank u so much! I finally found something that works. Xx
that makes sense - thank you for being so helpful :)
I know im really late but if I added alot of Vaseline will it still be bake able
I know right? Its awesome! That's why I love Fimo XD
OMG THANK U SOOO MUCH!!
Awesome tips Thankyou
Thank you! Money saver! 😃
You're welcome :) If you don't mind me asking, what is oven bake?
Thank you soooo much! 😃
Thanks this was really helpful :D
God bless this video. AMEN !
Thank u so much this helped so much c:
Thank you!!!
how to know that the kind of polymer clay that i have will work fine with oil?? and is it ok to bake my clay after adjusting it with oil??
Thank you it helped a lot :D
I love ur tutorials. I am still new to polymer clay. I am a jewelry designer & most of my work will be focused on beads w/some charms in time. I am confused about something. This is 2nd time I have heard you mention that clay can be too soft to work with. Guessing you also mean it's unusable after that? I have seen several tuts recently where ppl are taking oil based clays that are too soft & "leaching" excess softness by pressing between sheets of paper. Have u tried? Keep up the great job!
Thank you for showing me how to save $$$. Now, do you know a trick for keeping it from sticking to the pasta machine? I'm new but have bought old clay (not knowing) and so now, my newly conditioned clay sticks to it all of the time! Again though, i really appreciate your insight and sharing of this info with us!👍💜
thankyou for the tips ^~^
Thank you
This was very very helpfor
Thank you for the awesome tips and for being specific with the brands. Here I was thinking about using the same oil technique with my old Fimo clay blocks... you saved me! > ω < Thaaankies again!
In hobby/ craft stores or even online.
Will this work with air dry clay too or no
You are very welcome and Premo is by Sculpey so definitely :)
Do you do this all the time
Yay!!
Of course you can use oil to soften Fimo, too, it works perfectly fine. It's a myth that Fimo is "waterbased".
So will water work with the other brands too?
@@barbaracrisp6121 Good question, I don't know. I'd always prefer oil with any brand.
thanks ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you sooooo much
wow i didn't know about the water trick!
Thanks for saving me a lot of money! I'll use mineral oil (baby-oil)
Whats the longest time you kept clay without using it ? is there such thing as polymer clay being unusable cuz of years without using it? so far i had polymer clay sit in my craft box for let's say 8 to 10 months now, and i worked with only 3-4 types. FIMO, Sculpey Premo, sculpey III, super sculpey original, cosclay. The worst polymer clay in terms of crumbly was is FIMO Professional that clays Hard, and crumbly, hard to Nead also the soft, after a while will crumble. Found Sculpey Premo holds it value but to make super tiny details with nah needs to be mixed with ??? well what would you suggest? for creating small figures example, Yoda, ironman, War Tanks. P.S. whao water for FIMO ? The first time i saw and hear this, how long would you have work time B4 starts cracking again ? so FIMO is old oil-based?
As someone who has been working with Fimo polymer clay for years you can absolutely use oil to soften it.
Thank you I tried so hard to get my Dino soft now I know 🥰
You are very welcome :)
Where doo you get clay
Its not unusable if it gets over hydrated, its just takes a lot longer to leech clay than re hydrating it :)
Thankyouuu
It might work if you add water if it is an air-dry clay its usually water based.
thankyou
what do I do if my brown craftsmart just got a little bit softer?
How to make molding clay soft
Only when I need to soften clay :)
Can you do a fimo clay opening
I'd like to know how to store fimo after this technique..Do I have to use it right after i've soften it or will it stay soft for several days? Also,I was about to throw my hard clays away but thank's to you,I didn't!I tried it and I got sad about all the clays I've already thrown away :/
All polymer clay should be stored away from heat and sunlight. Fimo needs to be conditioned before use or else it'd be impossible to use, sadly it can't be only conditioned once and stay malleable for a while. To have that consistency would make it impossible to sculpt.
SaphirazlilJewels Thanks for the reply.I have one more question..I just started using cernit polymer clay..Do you know if it is water based or oil based?
TheEirinipao13 Oil :)
Thank you very much! You are great!
it's 2022 now, I wonder if the manufacturers have changed the ingredients of both Fimo and Sculpey
What about preemo clay?
Oh okay I understand, I don't bake with an oven anymore since it wastes too much energy for just a few charms so I use a toaster oven, not just anyone will do since some can burn clay.
I think sculpey is soft anyways never had to change the constancy of the clay I've never had experience with fimo or craftsmart I don't know how they work though my micheals doesn't have premo or fimo so that sucks
Companies for polymer clay keep their product ingredients under wraps but if it is specifically for polymer clay products then it should be fine :) substitutes however need to be strict kind of like the tutorial in this video just to make sure nothing goes wrong :)
Ok Vaseline works great but the clay needs be reduced to as near a powder as you can get. I did this by putting the hard clay into a covering of three plastic bags then placing it on a hard surface and belting the bejeesus out of it with a lump hammer. It took seconds and when I added just a smidge of Vaseline it kneaded to workable clay in no time. Alternatively you can crush it in a vice or bag it and drive the car over it repeatedly. No knead to waste time working it with your hands.
how do you use the oil??
just apply some oil on the crumbled clay or use Vaseline
That's true, but nothing lasts forever it may get hard because of exposure to small amounts of heat, sunlight, dry climate, all that stuff :)
This video is way better now that you have the voice over fixed hehehehe :P
i love u
I hate fimo because its too hard
Gosh dang it I’m allergic to Vaseline TvT
Then use one of the oils she listed
Less blabla would have been perfect and Tipp...using white writing on a lightblue white background is a dumb idea!
Thank you
