    • The training games in our online course work for dogs of any age and from any background. Although they are designed more for puppies, if you're familiar with canine communication, you'll find the games to be so helpful in teaching him/her how to live in your human world. www.howtotrainadreamdog.com/puppy-perfection-course-learn-more/

  • Hi, can you tell me what should be done when you get a new adult dog from shelter? Where it should sleep on first night? What precautions to take? How to make dog comfortable and train eventually as shelter dog is not poo- pee trained for home

    • Hi! You can follow the same tips we recommend for a new puppy, but you will probably need to give an older dog more time to settle in before he or she is ready for formal training. You can follow the same potty training fundamentals we recommend for puppies for your shelter dog. Start with this free kit! New Puppy Starter Kit www.howtotrainadreamdog.com

  • I dont understand relying on crates. I absolutely understand the benefits of crates and I'm sure they work well at night or as a training tool, but what on EARTH do you do with your dog when you go to work? Its not practical to crate your dog during the 9/10 hours you are away from home. Then you have to let the dog have access to an area where they can defecate anyway. You mention always crating your dog when you leave the house. Same problem. I cant see how a dog can be left unsupervised for a relatively long period in a crate practically. Please dont see this as an attack on you or your training methods, a lot of your videos make sense and I've adopted a lot of advice that you give :)

    • It's true that if you'll be gone for a long period, you'll need to find other ways to meet your dog's needs. We recommend pet sitters or dog walkers who can come in and provide some much needed enrichment, exercise, a potty break and more. Keeping your pup in the crate (with the appropriate crate training and only for the appropriate time based on his age and abilities) will allow him to rest and relax while you're gone, and keeps him safe and keeps your home safe. Most people who work full time find that a dog walker is essential.
