  • Logically and realistically, China should start taking out their money out from the US and start selling more of their US bonds and it's USD reserves. Keep it to the most minimal they can. It's very risky to leave their money in the US. Same goes for everyone else. One day, everyone else could be sanctioned as well.

    @JCSY1@JCSY1Ай бұрын
  • The more stupid the USA behaves internationally, the more countries will tire of the USA and they will become more and more isolated in the end. It is so tragic to see when the US could do so much more good in the world and that in turn would only benefit the US in the long run but they miss the train as usual.

    • Watch the rise of BRICS and Eurasia. They are learning how to detach from the arrogant West and to create their own half of the world. BRICS is based on economic cooperation, while the declining west is based on military strength which makes no friends. BRICS group will develop their own new international commercial currency and base it on gold and/or other precious stable metals.

  • The attitude of the US towards China is, to put in mildly, surreal, with Blinken, amongst his many demands, insisting on China giving American companies a “level playing field” while more and more Chinese companies are hindered or banned outright from doing business in the US. No doubt the US market is an important one for China, yet I seriously doubt that it is going to try to appease this increasingly deranged and imperialistic adversary. Historically, appeasement never ends well.

    @Paul_Caruana@Paul_CaruanaАй бұрын
    • @Paul_Caruana Very well said. Another term I would use in this context is "bizarre". US policy with regard to China is horribly confused. Sanctioning Chinese tech firms and attempting to retard Chinese technogical progress particularly in the chip sector, ultimately can only result in greater Chinese self-sufficiency. From self-sufficiency and tech parity the Chinese will then go on to dominate this sector because their productive capacity will be both greater and cheaper. Once again, the US is shooting itself in the foot.

    • No one (other than delusional Ukrainians) thought that. The purpose of the West was to destabilize Russia, to the point where Putin would be over thrown and Russia could be split up for BlackRock, for its Resources. The West used Ukrainians as proxies, to be thrown away after use. The West does not care how many Ukrainians die, as long as the West gets what it wants. Instead, this only drew Russia close to China (destroying the policy of Kissinger and most US presidents since Nixon), accellerated BRICS and the fall of the PetroDollar, destroyed access to cheap Russian gas (de-industrializing Europe), and accelerated the massive Debt burden on the US. This is a total disaster for the West, caused by the Globalists/Neocons.

  • Listening to the struggling with pronunciation of "Vuhlidar" (in Ukrainian) or "Ugledar" (in Russian) town, maybe it would be interresting for some to actually understand the meaning of this word. Maybe somebody already mentioned it here or somewhere else. "Ugl" (in Russian) or "Uhlí" (in my native, also Slavic, language) means "Coal" and "dar" in Slavic languages means "gift", so the meaning of the word is basically to describe the locality as the one which is giving (gifting) the local inhabitants coal (as a gift). Many of these towns and villages in Donbass area are mining towns, thus those names. Another example was the Soledar town - "sol" means "salt", dar again gift - so the town was named, because it was mining town, but not for coal this time, but for salt.

  • Hi Alex, great commentary as usual. I'm a big fan! I want to add to your point about the ATACMS being potentially easier to intercept than slower-moving subsonic cruise missiles. You are absolutely right to point out that subsonic cruise missiles tend to fly much lower, which makes them more difficult to detect by radars and therefore reduces the likelihood of interception. To reinforce your point, one reason why the ATACMS may be more predictable and easier to shoot down is that it is a tactical ballistic missile, and one that as you point out is supersonic (although still slow compared to most ballistic missiles), but which follows a predictable and highly visible flight trajectory. It *may* be able to able to make very limited manoeuvres in the terminal phase, but this will be very minor compared to a cruise missile of any kind. ATACMS will also not be surface-skimming very much by definition, again making it easy to see coming by radar systems (most of which are line-of-sight based and limited by the earth's curvature). Adding to the fact the ATACMS is slow by ballistic missile standards makes it pretty plausible for the Russians to shoot down the vast majority of them. A supersonic or hypersonic cruise missile on the other hand would be much harder for the Russians (or anyone else) to deal with, especially if they can fly relatively low.

At the start of the war the Russian military had a claimed paper strength of around 1 million, but the actual number of bodies in the ranks was 750-800K. Its generally a good idea to distrust ANY facts and figures coming from Moscow without confirmation elsewhere. The Potemkin village mentality is in the water there...

Likely RU active forces currently have only about half or a little over the 2.5 to 3 million total you referenced.
