Who says that Post-Crisis Superman is a weakling? Common questions about this video are answered below:
Questions & Answers
Q - What is Crisis?
A - Crisis on Infinite Earths. The first Superman Comic after the Silver Age, published in 1986, which gave Superman a more stable power set. (Before that comic, people wrote Superman with whatever powers they wanted)
Q - What are these clips from?
A - The first clip is from "Superman vs the Elite". The second clip is from "Superman/Batman Apocalypse". The third clip is from "Justice League: Doom"
Q - Is this "canon"?
A - It's a direct adaptation of Action Comics #775, so yes. Here's a couple of scans from that comic as proof:
Q - Why are they talking/breathing on the moon? How did Superman make a tornado on the moon?
A - An extra-dimensional creature called "Bunnie" put air on the moon for them.
Q - Isn't that explosion too small for 15 supernovas?
A - He said "15 suns exploding in his face". It obviously isn't the full power of 15 suns focused onto one spot. (That would destroy pretty much everything) It's a much weaker attack focused onto one spot to have the same effect as 15 supernovas hitting Superman: a small amount of energy focused onto one spot, via compression can equal the same effect as a greater amount of energy against a single target. For better clarity, see the diagram at the link below:
Q - Superman doesn't have psychic powers!
A - As explained in the Man of Steel miniseries (1986) Superman, and all other Kryptonians have an invisible, millimeter thick, incredibly strong telekinetic barrier surrounding their whole body, that can be projected to surround distant objects. It prevents/reduces damage from most sources, and is the reason for Superman's 'invulnerability'. (which is more like durability: Superman has been injured before, and is injured in this video) It's also the reason he can lift large objects without them falling apart under their own weight, and the reason he can fly:
archive.is/ZwXRf - Superman himself confirms that his flight and extreme strength are both functions of his willpower, and are therefore telekinetic in nature. Without using his telekinesis he is still very strong, but not nearly as strong as he is with it.
archive.is/NKXFg - In this scan (from the New52 Superman comics) we see that Superman's Kryptonian armor is pre-programmed to weaponize Superboy's telekinetic power. It would only do that if it expected the user to be telekinetic. Superboy's only power is Telekinesis, and it is stated to be a result of him being half-Kryptonian. (not a byproduct of being half-human)
archive.is/PQhGE - Superman's descendants also possess this ability. The effect radiates from his hands and is used to move objects.
- Here we see Silver Age Superboy (young Superman) using his telekinesis. Notice the effect is radiating from his hands, much like the previous example.
archive.is/tkWjn/e6dadf4e85e9... - It's also used in the Superman films in the same way: the effect was a white beam from the hand.
archive.is/6PAV6 - Another Silver Age Telekinetic feat has Superman throw a pair of smooth stones in an utterly impossible curve.
• Smallville Kal-El (cla... - In the television series Smallville, young Superman demonstrates telekinesis very clearly.
As for telepathy and telepathic projection, Superman has created illusions with his mind, can use mind control, and has psychic blocks that protect his mind from telepathic attack, and reads minds:

This scene is especially chilling because Superman isn't just deciding to somewhat cut loose to scare the Elite; *he's using their own philosophy against them.* The entire story, they've been acting with the Philosophy that might makes right and those in power should use it however they see fit. And the Elite realize too late that by that metric, Superman wins, and will win every time. It's a horrifying thought, and the exact reason why Clark holds back as much as he does and why he fundamentally disagrees with the Elite.
“ you could have saved the world a long time ago lex, you are the most gifted human on earth, you just choose to like the idea of being a hero but the truth is you don’t want to be a hero you just want control. Idk definitely something similar what Superman said to lex once
Yeah, it's the whole "living in a world of cardboard" thing. For Superman, that's a literal fact. He's constantly holding himself back by about 90%, because he knows just how powerful he is and how much devastation he could cause by simply _breathing too hard._ And that's just with a yellow sun. In the light of a _white_ sun he could shatter galaxies with a high-five. Hell, even with a red sun it doesn't eliminate his powers right off the bat. He's a literal walking solar battery, and can hold on to that energy for _days_ (it's how he can fight in the darkest reaches of space, for instance). So yeah, pissing him off is an awesome way to get yourself atomized.

I'm glad this video has survived for so many years. Superman is a great character because he is a man who has the power to rule everything with an iron fist but he has the humanity to restrain himself. He doesn't allow his power to corrupt him which makes him an inspiration.
Exactly.
He had turned into a dictator a couple of times. The Justice league even had an Arc about it. Lex kills Louis and Flash, Superman kills him on the spot. Injustice is all about it. He is more of an anti Hero than a super villain but DC has gone there. Red Son is all about him taking Stalin's place.

Two things to note that make this scene better: 1. Ordinarily, you can't show people gruesomely dying without raising the age rating considerably. When people say Superman is a boring boyscout and yet he can be very terrifying when he wants to be.
The contrast between normal Superman and scary Superman is part of what makes it so scary when he decides it's time to stop being nice.
People don't get this, but Superman is awesome because he's a boyscout. An overpowered, and yet still kind and determined boyscout. His story is not just about his victory, but also how he'll strive to win his battles in the best way possible. In this story Superman was initially showing to The Elite why being goodie two shoes can be pretty cool, only started to intimidate them when they just won't listen and planned to become even worse. Regardless of when he's at his strongest (All-Star) or at his strangest state (Superman Blue vs Angel), if the writer's capable enough and know why Superman is so adored, his stories will be damn good.
That’s why the injustice series is my favorite 💯

I've noticed that there actually seems to be a psychological aspect to how Superman takes down each member of the Elite, in that it shatters what they think makes them untouchable and powerful. Setting small hordes of monstrous creatures on others to bite them to death is her department, and Superman inflicted something similar on her with just one much tinier dart The Hat suffocates due to real world biology and physics, things that he should have been able to bypass as a magic user. This takedown reminded him he was still bound by natural laws, so his carefree arrogance was unearned Coldcast is pretty much the brute of the Elite, using powerful energy blasts as an all-solving hammer. And he wants to make Batman feel needed, so despite godlike powers "Oh no, the robot caught me... help!" Weird how they never realized that superman has lived with those power his WHOLE life So he knows what he's capable of, just uses little because he could hurt people and was luckily raised right so he has good morals, just if you push him
That’s true!
Blud literally bench press the weight of the entire planet for mutiple days in a row and these villains thought they could crush him with cars n' buildings.
Supermans biggest power/strength according to me is not his heat vision or physical strength. It’s the ability to hold back all the time. Even when angered, when fighting enemies, when emotional. He fully well knows how powerful he is and yet holds back so well so as to not hurt anyone. That’s what makes him the superhero.
Doomsday was the only one to make superman REALLY try.
Wait what?!! U telling me we never seen superman’s true power?
And that's why I don't just say his contemporaries like Wonder woman, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, ANY of them save maybe Shazam/Black adam are as strong as Superman. Because it is wired into his character to hold back 99 percent of the time. He was raised doing it. Its why when bizarro runs loose he ragdolls everyone else and even shocks Superman with his strength...because he doesn't hold back. Superman won't even cut loose to save his ego. There's something really earnest about it.

And the precision with his heat vision cut them out. Though in the comics, he just flashed that part of Chester's brain, so he would still have his powers after recovering.
I mean, he can probably perform brain surgery ON HIMSELF as his clone did in Superman Doomsday, the thing he did to Manchester is just a walk in the park in comparison
Eh, in the film he had all the information he needed given to him by Manchester Black's sister before this fight. You're right overall but your example is wrong.

While I liked Superman's speech, DS only lost because of PIS. There were total of 6 fights in Superman TAS and JL/JLU: 1: DS vaporizes Kalibak, then confronts Supes. DS spams Omega beam. DS curbstomps. 2: DS confronts Supes during the invasion. DS spams Omega beam. DS curbstomps. 3: Offscreen, DS and Supes fight. DS wins and kidnaps Supes for brainwash. 4: Supes invades Apokalypse after recovering from the brainwash. Supes barely wins. 5: Supes fights DS in Brainiac planet. DS uses Omega beam twice (one of them was able to turn around the fight in DS favor), but DS stops using Omega Beam for no reason. Supes wins. 6: Supes fights DS in Metropolis. DS doesn't use Omega beam at all. Supes wins. Notice the pattern? Once DS starts using Omega beam, Supes can't win.
@@michaelsong5555 You forget that Superman's first win against Darkseid was literally because he put his hands over Darkseid's eyes, causing the Omega Beam to *_backfire._* It may be painful, but the Omega Beam doesn't actually meaningfully _harm_ Superman.

The funny thing is, this movie was based on the comic "What's so funny about truth, justice and the American way?" The issue I believe was set before clark had access to Kryptonian martial arts. Way before Clark faced Dominus. Waaaaay before Clark was trained by Mongul the 2nd to remove his mental barriers. Before he learned phasing from flash and the infinite mass punch. You know, now it kinda makes sense. Because superman is not the only kryptonian, because there's zod and his lackeys, and yet, superman seems even more powerful than them. It might be because he is meek. You know from that phrase "the meek shall inherit the world" Here meek is a Greek word, and it translates into, those who has sword, knows how to use it, but also knows how to keep it sheathed. And I think that describes superman perfectly, he is powerful, knows how to use that power, but keeps it under voluntary control. Which ironically makes him even more powerful.

In my honest opinion Superman is more scary than omni man not just because how fast he can kill someone but also how creative he can get with his kills especially since Superman knows all the tiny details about the human body thanks to his xray vision and microscopic vision
Keep in mind that when Superman said " He went into orbit at Mach 7", he said basically shot him out of the atmosphere at approx. 5,187.7 mph. I come back and rewatch this video every few years. Since the last time I saw this video, I've seen a Superman vs Goku video. The short version is that while some believe that Goku wins because the core of his character is that he breaks limits, he actually has no hope against Superman. The equivalent core of Superman is that he has no limits. I'll finish with a paraphrasing. If I recall correctly it's from one of the writers of one of Superman's most popular comic runs. Anyway, it goes like this: people always want to know how you make Superman relateable (in order to make him popular). The answer is, you dont. You make him inspiring.
"Bugger me. He's playing it our way" And then he proceeds to cry like a baby cause heaven-forbid he gets on the receiving end of HIS METHOD. :P Either way I'm LOVING This scene, cause he's basically SCARING THEM to where their blood...runs...cold, and they cower in fear, like they should. Sometimes the only way to teach someone a lesson is not by whooping their ass...but voiding their BOWELS, making their SPINES...shiver with utter...absolute...helpless, fear. If they can't learn a lesson then...they are better off sent into space, ALONE
