One side sees it as a failure and the other wants to keep doubling down (though as cannabis is being legalized, and they are seeing the tax revenue that could be brought in, they do seem to finally be starting to move on this issue a little bit, which I give them all the credit in the world for)

This also frames the wall wrong. The actual wall is only one part of the problem. The boarder wall plan is multi faceted and the wall would act as a force multiplier so they can work more efficiently with the resources they have right now. You are conflating the issues. Look at what they want to do with the boarder. it isn't that they just want to put up a wall and pretend the boarder is 100% safe. The wall is to reduce the main influx of people and remove the catch and release. Until that happens ice is just pushing a bolder up a hill. The other issue is the media constantly edits his comments and statements. That is on top of him speaking to visualization. You can easily think of a large wall as apposed to a fifty three point boarder security plan. TL:DL if you fix the main population influx what is left are the tunnels and check point crossings. They get more scrutiny when the main problem is fixed.

It's dumb that just because they can find other solutions around the wall that it's not worth doing. Flying to canada (takes money, time and effort), building a tunnel (time and effort) and when you get caught, you have to start that shit all over again! Realistically, there are hundreds and hundreds of miles of border so there is no way you can really create something that is actually secure. Even if you build the best wall the wall industry has ever seem since wall 1.0, it is too fucking big to be up kept with border patrol officers. Also the cartel aren't dumb, they're insane criminals but also insane geniuses. The guy already said they've figured out a solution.

I notice the big fallacy in the argument "most illegal drugs come through ports of entry and not the boarder, so therefore a wall won't work" is that the people who pickup these drugs at the port of entry to distribute internationally need to report back and forth to mexico, and they travel back and forth through the boarder. It will ruin logistics immensly with the wall.

Can the wall stop criminal activity? No. But can it significantly hinder and slow down activity? Absolutely! Saying that it’s still going to go on so we shouldn’t do anything about it is cowardly. We can’t just let evil have a free reign because we can’t stop some of it. Like, “we can’t stop bank robberies so we are not going to have any security on the premises and also we are getting rid of the vault and turn safety deposit boxes into cubbies. That thing about Mexicans up north is 100% real. I live up there and have noticed a ton of Mexicans started moving here out of nowhere, I figured it was because of farming but I’m sure many of them came crossed the border in Canada.
This also frames the wall wrong. The actual wall is only one part of the problem. The boarder wall plan is multi faceted and the wall would act as a force multiplier so they can work more efficiently with the resources they have right now. In short it is a game of whack a mole and right now they are dealing with way too many moles.
But in this case the holes the moles come out are tunnels that are miles long under the border and the wall does nothing to seal said tunnels. The right was concerned with tunnels for years then the second Trump mentions a wall tunnels don't exist anymore
You are conflating the issues. Look at what they want to do with the boarder. it isn't that they just want to put up a wall and pretend the boarder is 100% safe. The wall is to reduce the main influx of people and remove the catch and release. Until that happens ice is just pushing a bolder up a hill. The other issue is the media constantly edits his comments and statements. That is on top of him speaking to visualization. You can easily think of a large wall as apposed to a fifty three point boarder security plan. TL:DL if you fix the main population influx what is left are the tunnels and check point crossings. It's dumb that just because they can find other solutions around the wall that it's not worth doing. Flying to canada (takes money, time and effort), building a tunnel (time and effort) and when you get caught, you have to start that shit all over again!
