Love these budget friendly builds!!
ikr
They listened to our feedback 😀 The majority of people like watching builds they can achieve themselves, stuff more relatable. I personally like to watch a slow stock civic made into something nice, rather than a 1000hp Supra.
I agree! Its much more relatable than high dollar builds
budget friendly?! bro they gonna be more than $5000 in by the time theyre done with it, thats not budget friendly at all
@@Entertainmentinc1 I haven’t got that kinda money either but compared to these high end builds that use rare parts and take 100’s of hours it’s nice to see something more realistic for an every day enthusiast
I swear this "Pimp my whatever" are the series that I'm most excited about on the entire youtube car scene, please keep doing this kind of builds.
Seriously. Small, 2-3 parts builds is great! Looking for more like these!
agreed
Yes
sooooo... nobody here is an actual "car guy" or whatever..? they just made this car loud and slow. wasted money and time and you all are excited about this? it's a honda. for 3k they could have turbocharged that thing and it would have out performed this build in it's final form. waste of time. go see boosted bois if you want cheap honda builds.

"As a canadian car , it has a lot of rust" instant sub...you know the real struggle
First time I’ve ever heard “Dorman & quality” in the same sentence 😂
Been following since the CRV video then mazda 3 now this.... we want more this budget build! Maybe later you could mod fans car as well
They had a pimp my ride giveaway for patreon members. The winner was chosen in July I think.... Haven't heard any updates about it since then. Not sure what happened.
@@trigun989 the winner of our Patreon giveaway is based in the States, so we're stuck waiting for the border to re-open before we can do his build. #is2020overyet?
@@speedacademydave thanks for update Dave
@@speedacademydave Thanks for the update! Also, I know eBay is sponsoring the video, but you should mention the parts you used, along with more budget friendly alternatives that your viewers are more likely to purchase and install. For example, most of your viewers will not purchase the k-tuned coil overs. Just a thought.
Saw the CRV. Seeing the civic now. I need to c the Mazda 3 lol
I loved this video! Thanks so much for putting it together... I really enjoy watching these budget car builds.
I’ve been looking for this car ever since watching. Clean build
i realy like the new pop ups about ebay motors fun facts but next time can you tune down the volume for the pop up sound its like +100 db XD
Yes I agree it’s a bit too loud
A bit of an exaggeration, but yeah, they should definitely work on the mixing.
Sorry, looks like an audio issue. Will be fixed for the next one!
Agree, maybe a quiet “ding” would be better
Are you serious? It was barely louder than the music. Maybe next time try turning the volume down so your sensitive little ears don't get hurt.
I’m a big fan of these types of builds. Reminds me when Chris Fix’s neighbor gave him a civic with a timing issue and he fixed it. Can’t wait for part 2!
Except that car had a real issue. This neighbor was scrapping a relatively low-mileage Honda for an exhaust leak? I paid $800 for a 2002 Civic LX coupe with 250,000 miles and a blown head gasket! Who scraps running cars?!
@@drippingwax well said!
Why is it just found these guys now but been watching the straight pipes and mighty car mods for years these guys are so good at producing great videos keep it up🤘
I really, REALLY love the work you're doing! Someday i want you to K-Swap my Civic too! I loved the grey EK you build! Awesome work gentlemen!
Never clicked so fast, had me one of these as a beater, most reliable civic i ever had.
HUH I had one for 6 years and it was hell, i guess I must of had a lemon.
Have you had any other civics!? These are one of the worst engines honda ever made😂
blakeschmid I agree, I had my head gasket go, thermostat, temp sensor, rod knock, etc. I’ve moved onto K-Series now with my CSX-S
My sister and I got our licenses in a 2004 honda civic LX. Drove it to around 300k and gave it away to my buddy.
@@blakeschmid Well for some reason mines lasted to 300k and sold it, leaky transmission and all , but i had a JDM model dunno if that made a difference non-USA guy here. And had a ton of eks as well but moded all of those also great car
For the love of god wash that thing first. How can you enjoy working in all that dirt. Good content and look forward to more.
Looks okay on the outside, but that engine bay is pretty disgusting
That was what I was thinking lol, I got a 05 accent and it’s a junk car but I cleaned the entire engine bay when I got it lol
Dude right what the fuck
Pop-up video style made me so nostalgic ahah love this.
Gotta love those “budget builds”. You beat my price for the cheapest I’ve paid for a 7th Gen Civic flip and yours is a few yrs newer! I bought a 2002 Civic LX, 5spd MT for $250. Awesome vid! Subbed.
$225 car with almost $3,000 in parts 😅🤙🏻
Basically my Jeep build.
Add a zero to the end of each figger and you got my e36 ...
@@earnestbunbury2103 30k in parts how much hp u pushing
Sell it for $5,000
Kind of like grandma getting a boob job lmao
Im from Ontario and I love how your explanations are simple and more engaging rather than 20 minutes on a certain part
Just bought this beauty straight-piped. Awesome mods in this vid!
Those fun facts appearing on the screen took me back to the days of Pop up Video. Very cool video.
I'm excited to see how the paint comes out once it's cleaned up! The blue looks nice.
Gotta love a hot air intake! 😂
....right?! "Just look at all this restrictive factory piping, that might actually allow a small bit of fresh outside air to make it into the engine...."
By the looks of the engine bay .... that filter will never get cleaned.
And 2.5 inch exhaust which will dump any hopes of power on a stock 1.7. 1"3/4 or 2'' max on an engine that small. Its Instagram car people mods. Its hopes and dreams for people that dont know any better.
@@benruether8294 A large exhaust doesn’t hurt power. All the power gains happen at the header, and the rest of the exhaust is for sound and fume control. If the engine had two banks, then you could argue for a scavenging effect.
It's Canada I'm sure it gets plenty of cold air
I'm using this as a reference for my 05 civic. I can definitely vouch for the Yonaka exhaust, sounds amazing. I would also suggest you get DC Sports headers (don't know if they make them anymore though) if you have the manual transmission.
If you could, could you link the exhaust? I am having trouble finding it and the link in the description doesn't work.
Glad this video popped up. I have a 2003 lx manual 300k miles. A lot of great ideas I will be using, thanks.
Love the mod my ride series! It's nice to see a lightly modded car and the unexpectedly large impact it has. Its something I can grasp and feel like something I could achieve too. Hearing the $ tally was also really cool for the same reasons.
Every time I see under one of your new projects I am so happy I don't live in a salted road area. That rust is killer.
I’m in MI, and any “20 minute job” turns into 2 hrs lmao
My brother bought a slightly modded civic after his 93 civic got in a wreck, the guy dropped a short column shifter and stage 2 clutch in it and man that was fun. Best experience I’ve had in a car.
Keep it going! Just bought a 2003 civic 1.7 stick shift

PhlyinPhenoix Gaming I’m from ct too. I don’t drive the race cars when they put all that salt down lol
@@philspaghet lmao i just realized that🤣 thank u
As a Australian I’m wondering what all that brown shit is underneath...rust? What is that?
@@Scaredeecat82 not sure if you are being sarcastic or not 😂 but yeah it's rust, mainly surface rust/corrosion.
Love the series so far. I have a few suggestions. 1. I’d love to have a longer rundown on the condition of the car before so like driving it and more commentary on how it feels just so that for someone like me who sees the before and after I can hear your commentary on the difference. 2. Maybe when you are installing some of the changes for the car you can put some more footage on how you did it so I can learn some more about it. Overall great and can’t wait to watch some more.
Yonaka makes really good budget friendly exhausts, I bought one for my dc5 and it sounds amazing with no rasp or tin sound
Finally someone got a chance to build and modified this type of civic dimension!
Really like the “pimp my ride” type of a video, really hope this series keep going 👍🏼
Agree pimp my ride done right
Pimp my timing belt ...
That Civic design has aged really well. Great video, looking forward to the next one.
Thats a cool heat trick, thanks for showing.
This Reminds me of project car magazine! This is fun to watch the transformation!
I never herd Dorman and better than Oem before in the same sentence 😂
honestly.. you'd be surprised how shitty OEM honda parts are getting
Dorman makes good ls intakes.
I commend him for saying it with a straight face
@@derekyam1805 because their starting to change manufactures, causing more failures they really just need to sick to their old ones
Idk Dorman makes plenty of products that fix known issues on the oem parts. And their LS truck intake is nearly a direct copy of the fast intake with a 3 bolt throttle body flange instead of the 4 bolt on the fast.
Lovin this kind of series! Please keep up the good work. Might wanna see these kinds of builds on the track, man.
I see most of the replies are very positive and friendly. This looks like a pretty wholesome channel bringing in decent viewers. Great job, now I am subscribed
Just bought honda civic ex 2004 5 speed as my first car and i cant wait to make it a clean build
Take it to the track!
Love these types of builds please keep them coming
I love that motech system exhaust!
I've said it before, but I love these quick builds because it feels like it could be a great primer for someone looking to build their first project car. If you swap out PT for a teenager who just got their license in the case of the neighbour wanting to give him a car he was going to scrap, this could easily be someone looking for a video like this to get them started.
THATS ME ;-;
I think this is the first time I've heard Doorman and quality in the same sentence.
civics are so much fun and with minor investment can be such beautiful cars thank you for saving this car
I had an manual LX '01 em2 from brand new. Sold it with the original motor and trans with 350k miles. Only had to change the TPS sensor at 150k miles, one oem clutch at 175k(just in case because of two week road trip), replaced the catalytic converter with a new OEM one at 250k miles, and reman the alternator to brushless. I had a great 14 year run before I was offered a trade I couldn't say no too. Cheers!
I love these budget builds! Can you guys at the end PLEASE do a dyno test and give a hp/torque summary from stock for us? Would be awesome for us to be able to a horsepower per dollar analysis! Rockin’ content!
Honestly the intake and exhaust are so negligible for power it really is a waste of time and effort to show the 2-3hp it will gain on the dyno.
Yonaka is a go to budget/subtle Honda system. I had one on my old integra and it was subtle and hardly noticeable in most situations.
I got a 05 civic ex special edition coupe and this videos amazing I got sm rust too but this videos exactly how I’d build mine
Massive thanks 🙏 for this bro, planning to buy an Si in CA. I really need this review, cheers man!
Sick! I have the same car in red. Got it for $500 USD. Had 2 timing belts done and a ton of maintenance. I never see anyone doing anything with this generation of civic
500 is cheap men I got it for 1200 126000 miles 03 dx model auto
@@mercpindi5522 that’s a good deal too. Low miles for that price. Mine had 140K when I got it

i had one of these , a 2005 civic se with a 5 speed manual . great car !
Idk but high production value on some budget friendly builds is pretty awesome
Yes! I still daily my Em2 I bought new in high school.
EM2 Gang.
we have a very very similar story. my dad surprised me with my 04 civic EX for 200$. my dad is a landscaper and we have happened to live near a college. he was mowing a professors yard. the prof approached my dad and asked him if he wanted 200$ for it bc his daughter had bought a newer car. it has 170k miles on it and it’s never had any problems, and it’s completely stock. first mod i plan on doing is adding a dual exhaust tip
Gotta love it! Thanks for throwing down everything clearly makin it easy to pick up😉 got the same year but its a manual ex need to do this to mine 💪☠✌
fun facts? loud facts you mean! Had my headphones on and whoop! Thats loud!

$300! Why can’t I ever find killer deals like that?!? You’re going to make money on the ad revenue and from flipping the car after!

When you have money, people tend to give you things for free.
I literally had one back in 2017 as a winter beater. Bought for $350 literally the same car, like this could be it.
I got my civic for free from a friend of my dads. I just got lucky.
I really don’t believe dude would scrap that, that’s an easily 1500-2000 dollar car

I had a yonaka exhaust on my old RSX-s and I really liked it for the price.
Probably the best sounding exhaust like this I've ever seen/heard.
I have a Yonaka exhaust on my 94 Integra GSR. I don't like it at all. It drones way too much.
@@marcperras9072 I had a few super cheap systems before I got the Yonaka one and it was a world of difference. Headers, no cats and a cold air and it sounded pretty decent imo
@@MTrefry2 I'm glad it worked out well for you. I wasn't so lucky. I couldn't return it as I had to add 4 inch pipe to make it fit my car. I did return the headers. Yonaka head office is located in my city. They wouldn't accept a return in person. I has to send it back by DHL. The DHL warehouse is on the same road as Yonaka. I had to drive by Yonaka to get to DHL. One other reason why I wasn't impressed.
@@marcperras9072 that sucks. If I remember correctly I just had to bend one of the rear hangers. Was it for your exact model? I know some exhausts run different paths for manual vs auto.

amazing job guys
It’s the kind of video we love to watch
Never seen a catalytic converters directly below the exhaust manifold like that. I guess it’s better that way so thieves can’t easily access it. 👍🏼
Miss my EM2!!
I would have figured comments would be turned off but then I remembered there are people out there that actually like the D series
With the manifold bolts, thread the bolt back and forth. It will clean the threads and I’ve never broken any seized bolt doing that. I work on diesels and DPFs using that trick. Those things get mega hot.
You should give it back to the neighbor and make a video of their reaction
yes do it
@speedacademy fun fact I helped a guy at AutoZone parking lot years back change out his cam position sensor on a car just like this. His girlfriend called him and he told her where he was and she kept telling him she knew he was at the strip club. Lol
Nothing better than a Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla face off
Love this colour!!!
Included the tax and shipping, if applicable, for the actual amount.
Imagine spending that much on a exhaust that doesn’t sound any different
