I did my absolute best to try and save this rug, using new tools to do the least amount of damage as possible. It was a losing battle but I did lean a thing or two along the way.
I've compiled all the links, to all my various sites, in one handy location - linktr.ee/mountainrugcleaning
Please check it out and follow the ones you're not yet. I would very much appreciate it.
Many thanks

  • Something that goes underappreciated about these rug cleaning videos is just how HEAVY rugs are when wet! Today I cleaned my own 5'x7' rug, after having it for 3 and a half years. I discovered mold under it, so I had to do something, and it was too stiff to throw into a washing machine. I don't have all these fancy tools, but I scrubbed by hand with laundry detergent and a scrub brush, rinsed with my front yard's hose, and squeegeed with my cookie sheet. It took a few hours, and was exhausting! It is still drying with a fan blowing on it.

    @clairet5636@clairet563615 күн бұрын
    • Update: after it dried over night, the next day it stank horribly like pee! It didn’t smell like that before! Thankfully, baking soda and carpet deodorizer worked well on that. I was also extremely sore for 2 days after, it was such a workout.

And we happily continued storing our food in it for another couple of years after that. Until another roommate dropped an entire bottle of milk in the fridge and didn't clean it up properly and I found it turning into cheese in the silicon seel around the door. My point is, if twenty something me had found this rug, beautifully cleaned, on the side of the road with a "free to a good home" sign on it, it would have been welcomed with open arms. You can put the dodgy end under the couch, pop a coffee table on top, it would look great.

I also love that you admit when you are not sure if your process will work, show that process to us, whether it failed or not and are always willing to learn and grow. I thought that rug was going to completely fall apart. Everytimes you ran a piece of equipment over it, pieces of rug kept coming off. It definitely looked a thousand times better. You did an excellent job trying to restore it. To my recollection, I believe this is only three 2nd rug you were it able to save. There might be a third, but I think we beg to differ on that one if I remember right 😂 Now you know, I will put ANY rug you clean in my house, but this one.....I'll pass 😂 Did it pass the clean and smell test enough to give it to other animals to enjoy, or is it a lost cause? • It was amazing you were able to save as much as you did. Unless someone has seen other rug cleaning videos, you don't appreciate just how much damage has been done with all those fibers coming off. You just assume it's more debris - but that was actual rug material shedding off, probably due to the mold and acid damage from the vomit and urine. Wow. I second the commenter who says the roller should be named "Rick" lol. And R2Clean2 would have probably destroyed the rug - just using LuSqueegee on it almost tore it in two. Thanks for the continued bringing of order to chaos (and boy was that rug chaos).

  • Question for you… is it possible that black mold could spread to others rugs if you use that scrubber on other rugs in the future? You know how mowers spread weeds from lawn to lawn? Just curious if it’s possible with black mold. Guessing that you probably sprayed down the scrubber really well afterwards. Was just curious. Great content, always watch before bed to help wind down. 👍
