In this video we're at another big sheep farm, 1 with 12,000 ewes! We join Charlie DeFagely and his family as they bring in 5000 lambs to draft off some for market.
It was an awesome experience working with that many sheep and we really enjoyed it!

  • Fabulous insight into what's going on in my country...city slicker from the east coast here. It's a big country and and I haven't seen this sort of thing in years. Watching the sheep in the drone vision is mesmerising. The dogs are fabulous and the Irish commentary is so good. Thanks guys !!

  • The numbers are mental. You wouldn’t think it was possible in those numbers when you see the effort it takes to lamb 500 or so in uk or Ireland 😳

  • Ha! the secret of how to get the sheep to follow! We, in our dotage, feed dairy calves from our sheep snacker. We go together as one of us needs the other to help get back up should one of us fall. At least it gets us out of the house. They do have sheep farming down to a fine art down under and the quality speaks for itself. You should have asked for a map. I am guessing the Australian market is in the middle east and Asia as we only see NZ lamb in the shops.

  • We don’t appreciate the good grass we have here in Ireland. Vast acreage and stock numbers there,it’s nice to see it but no place like home! :D

  • 48 to 58 kg , I am a bit surprised, I didn’t think that they would be letting them get that big but it is a lot more efficient than the little lambs that they want us to produce , carcass weight of 25 to 30 kg is prime in Australia, you learn something new every day! I was thinking looking at them that they were big lambs but I thought it was an illusion of the camera or something, did you think of asking the question as to why they are able to produce these larger lambs as prime? Imagine if we could get full whack for lambs 30kg carcass weight? It would increase our production by 50 percent . Regards from the Wicklow hills ( by the way it’s bloody freezing here).

    • 20kg to 30kgs are the weights I get at weaning Southdowns at 12 to 14 weeks in NSW. Some are heavier.

    • It's 48 to 58 liveweight so that would roughly end up being a 25-30kg lamb deadweight.

  • Some amount of lambs class drone footage unbelievable that amount of lambs not a black face in sight you should tell them about the mayo black face export them a few 😂

  • I thought that the dog was a Corgi x Kelpie and maybe some Jack Russel, it was the long body that I thought it was some Corgi as well - and both are herding dogs

    • They were feeding Faber beans(broadbeans), wheat and barley. We feed Faber beans, Lupins and field peas on our farm.
