We sat down with Zendaya, Josh O'Connor & Mike Faist to discuss their new film Challengers. We discussed their lives outside of acting, sports and of course UK VS USA.
Challengers is in cinemas on the 26th April.

he's probably over it lol they've done 100 interviews in like one week
the west side story junket was also much shorter, and he was in a supporting role. it’s probably occurring to him now that he needs to rework his future contracts for less interviews 😭

isn't it funny how mike gets to be a condescending asshole during interviews and yet no one cares. imagine if zendaya was flippant and cavalier about *every question*.
I don't think he should be crucified for his, admitedly, less than stellar attitude but If Z was like this she would be absolutely crucified and flamed at the stake.

@ihavethots1261 you’re so right about the white male privilege. Zendaya would already be cancelled if she demonstrated an iota of his rudeness. And ‘Challengers’ would already have flopped if Zendaya & Josh didn’t work so graciously to counterbalance Faist’s appalling attitude. It’s a shame because he really is a superb actor. But he won’t be the 1st or last actor to sabotage his career just as it’s taking off simply because he cannot endure the publicity that is the prerequisite to getting meaty, challenging roles in prestige projects. Who’d want this guy leading their film? He’s lucky Z & Josh are propping him up here, but it’d be commercial suicide to cast him as the sole lead, though he has more than enough talent to carry a film artistically.

I don’t know why Mike Faist is being so rude in all the interviews. It’s so off putting and makes watching these uncomfortable. He’s acting like a moody teenager who is too cool to be there even though it is a part of his job. Sure, maybe being asked the same question over and over isn’t fun but Zendaya and Josh are being perfectly professional and polite so its not even an excuse. In what other job would this kind of attitude be acceptable? The interviewer’s are also just doing their jobs and he’s making it harder for them for no reason other than his huge ego. I hate this genre of male actors who pretend to hate “fame and Hollywood” while getting these huge roles and opportunities and they cant even pretend to be thankful…
100% agreed. It’s making it difficult to watch any interviews from this press tour. It’s not only the journalists that have to deal with him but also his co-stars. It’s so disrespectful towards the other two, to make them fill up that energy in a situation where they already have to keep a smile and a good attitude. It’s so rude, makes me so mad.
Honestly I think it's this interview. If you see him in others, he's more engaged and having a better time. But here, they're being asked some not great questions. I've been a fan of his for a while and he's made it clear that he's very much an actor for the acting rather than the press and fame of it, so when it comes to press and stuff he hasn't done much until recently and you can tell when he is enjoying an interview versus when he's not. He's also known for being pretty sarcastic, so personally I think here his sarcasm with the off questions just make it seem like he hates it. Like, the question he said he'd be a clown, another interviewer asked the same thing and he gave the same answer, but he was more jovial in how he said it. Honestly, I think if you're gonna be invited to a press junket to talk to three passionate actors about a movie they're proud of you need more engaging questions than 'what sport would you go pro in?' and 'if you weren't an actor what would you be?'

He’s been off and on like this during this whole press tour. It’s like, dude show some gratitude. You are lucky enough to do what you love. Suck it up and give them what they want.
I haven’t seen this yet but just based on the interviews for the press tour, Zendaya and Josh have the best (great!) chemistry.
Haven’t seen sass like Mike’s since Louis Tomlinson’s early days. They kind of look alike too.

It’s terrible. Thank goodness Josh and Z can do there jobs professionally. These interviewers are just trying to do theirs
i see interviewers try to get sctord out of the same boring questions so they get a lil random but what both sides have to realize is they are both clocked in to work lol
Agreed, Mike and some actors need to get over themselves. There will be interviews where they can get asked in-depth questions about the movie, their character, and themselves. But some interviews are purely light-hearted

Mike really seems like such a dick. Not just in this interview, where he is clearly being rude because he doesn't like the questions, but in all of the other press I watch for this movie too -- I have watched a ton because I am a big fan of Josh. Whenever Josh or Zendaya share an anecdote about Mike, they always shed him in a positive light, saying he is the best at tennis or that he trained really hard or that he worked his ass off so his sweat was real during the tennis scenes, etc. Whenever Mike shares something about them, he puts them in a negative light: he said Josh would break a lot on set, then when Josh pushed back about it he clarified saying he didn't actually but he "would" have; he said josh did't follow the diet or exercise training and loosely implied he was lazy or dishonest to the coaches. He talks about how competitive Zendaya is and jokes a lot about how they hated each other on set. But his jokes don't land and the other two have to make up for it by clarifying repeatedly to the interviewers and the audience that he's just kidding. Completely classless. He comes across to me either as someone who has gotten a little bit of fame and it's gone to his head or he is just socially unaware. Either way, I certainly wouldn't want him around especially on a press tour.
Imagine the guy on the right doing a biopic of Lee Evans.....
Damn some of y’all are miserable in these comments, this is a job for them and they are humans beings don’t act like you’ve never been annoyed, moody or tired at work and expressed that outwardly, and telling them to suck it up when this part of being an actor is essential a customer service position. I don’t think any of y’all could sit through long interviews back to back and be asked basically the same questions for months and have to smile and be polite or else someone in the comments with too much time on their hands will call them rude and tell them to be grateful like where is the empathy??
it’s also pretty clear that everyone is treating zendaya as the star, josh o’connor as second billing bc of his fame from the crown, and none of them had heard of mike faist before this. he gets usually very uninteresting questions bc they don’t know what the fuck to ask him. its like giving a presentation on something you worked on and you were passionate about, and then getting asked if you prefer UK or US food. unfortunately, he’s probably going to have to buck up if he wants to continue doing film. the only thing saving him from being completely crucified on the hellsite formerly known as twitter is that he’s a white man. we all know his career would be 6 feet under now if he weren’t-we’ve seen it happen with his WSS co-star. i wish him all the best though

@@lovem7635 only 2 brits there and they are being the most upbeat people there. Zendaya looks tired and mike is rude if anything its the Americans being entitled for not providing a good interview even tho they are payed to be there
And just like anyother customer service role you don't bring how you feel to the table. how many front of house staff are struggling to make ends meet but still greet customers with a smile? Don't make excuses for them

I was thinking the same thing. I think sometimes the interviewers know the actors are being asked the same questions over and over. Some try to break it up a little and ask more personal interest questions. Mike needs to stick with Theatre if he doesn’t understand the movie game.

What is wrong with that guy, what is his name? Mike Faist. Let's talk about the movie he says, he doesn't want to talk about anything in every single interview. I've never seen anyone look more unhappy promoting a movie. He is so rude and looks like he hates being there and if he has depression, get help.

i'm honestly wondering how long these days are. mike during the WSS press tour was very lively and engaged. things seem very on and off with him for challengers, probably also due to the fact that interviewers seem far more interested in getting zendaya to talk about euphoria or tom holland than about the movie. business is business though and i hope he figures out how to pace himself and his energy.

i watched three consecutive interviews of them in a span of 10 minutes or less, and the questions are always the same lmfao. i was even confused if i mistakenly rewatched an interview. i really hope journalists/the press can be more creative and ask actual good questions! i get why mike seems exhausted by the repetitive irrelevant queeries lol

She does not want to get her career ruined over a small misstep. She and her parents have worked very hard for her success. It feel inauthentic but this is how it is. Taylor Swift is also like that and that's why both of these ladies are this successful today.
