Sprint Showdown On The Champs-Élysées! | Tour De France 2022 Stage 21 Highlights

2022 ж. 23 Шіл.
465 480 Рет қаралды

As ever, the Tour de France finishes with a procession into Paris, as those at the top of the GC sit back, sip champagne and congratulate themselves and their team mates on a job well done. For the sprinters however, the race is far from over. The fastest finishers face off once more in the informal yet no less prestigious “sprinters’ world championships” on the Champs-Élysées.

  • Awesome Tour 2022. So many stories. Magnus Cort breakaways. Magnus Cort super tight win. Shocking lose of Tadej on Col Du Granon. Matthews winning over Bettiol on that steep hill in Mende. Hugo Houle ♥️ Geshke fight for polka dot jersey with bitter ending 😢 Jonas waiting for Tadej when he fell down. And then there is Wout van Aert. Beating others in sprints, beating others from breakaways, winning time trial, third on Hautacam in green jersey. Love this guy. Love Tour de France. See you next year.

  • It is a wonderful thing to see a Yellow Jersey being so dominant that he picks up two mountain stages and the polka dot jersey. Vingegaard is a deserving champion! But it is the sacrifice of the team and it's members that I find most memorable in this tour. That, in my mind was shown on Stage 18 by Wout van Aert taking a flyer on the Hautacam and instead of heading for a stage victory, he was there to take over for hard working Sepp Kuss while leading Vingegaard to victory. Then...while rocketing to the finish during the time trial, and knowing he was so close to Wout Van Aerts winning time, Vingegaard took a hand off of the bars for a moment, seemingly let off of the gas just a bit and his teammate was assured of the win. That ladies and gentlemen is what true teamwork looks like. I hope you all had as good of a time as I did while enjoying this years Tour!

  • Thank you GCN for a wonderful informative commentary on the Tour. It was an easy follow with daily updates and time keeping. Of course congrats to Jonas Vingegaard for showing how to be a true gentleman and great champion. He will always be remembered for waiting Pogacar to resume his lead after taking a spill... True champions shine when they are humble determined persistent and respectful to fellow competitors. May Vingegaard continue to win Tour many times over.

  • GCN, great job covering the TDF!!! The videos were superb. 2022 is the best TDF that I can recall since the victories by Cadel Evans (although Andy Schleck is what made that year great), and Bradley Wiggins (because it looked like Chris Froome could win it at any time, but for team orders). Gotta tip my hat to Wout. The man can sprint, climb, time trial, and is a team player.

Vingegaard with a spectacular Tour, winning the key mountain stages to get the overall. Is there anything Wout van Aert can't do? He could easily be a competitor for the GC if his team wanted him to be. Magnus Cort with his early attacks in every early stage got us off to a rousing start...
