  • Her hand skills are insane, but I also love the casual, almost lazy movement around the court lol... that Su-wei stroll is iconic! But she still gets to a lot of balls.

  • I swear she uses like 10% of the energy output that her competitors do. Plays smart, uses the ENTIRE court, conserve energy, make the other players crazy with those drop shots hahah yessss. So refreshing to see.

  • You know what it is? the motion she uses for drop shots and groundstrokes are the INTERCHANGEABLE. Other players make a big distinct motion to prepare for slices, drop shots etc, while she is just casually standing there waiting for the ball. Look at the moment before she hits the balls. Until she actually hits it, you would not be able to tell anything.

  • Wei is known for her touch shots. But she can also absorb power, rally with big hitters, and even hit very hard winners. The difference between her and so many other players is that she really moderates her energy output and uses unorthodox form to hide shots. She's a real enigma on the court.

  • I think Hsieh is playing the wrong era of tennis, if she played in the 90's prior to power hitting dominance. With that great skill and intelligent game I think she could go further in a tournament or at least reached a grandslam final.

There's a guy below in the comments who was talking about how he hates this brand of tennis and how it's very Dustin Brown (who I also love) and honestly I wish more players went for S&V style tennis than the one-dimensional baseline style where they basically just hit hard and lack creativity (Ostapenko, comes to mind, she hates playing with Hsieh Se Wei lol).

When she beat halep in the third round of Wimbledon and started getting more press attention she divulged that she loves to eat the food of wherever she's at (especially junk food) and even mentioned taking her nephew around town to eat good food in London. Maybe it's good genes 😅

    • I disagree. I love this brand of tennis. A lot of current tennis is so one dimensional. They hit for power only and there's not much creativity. If she were faster and had a stronger return and serve, she'd be unstoppable. I wish more players would go for more serve-and-volley style tennis.
