  • JJ McCarthy will be the best QB in the 2024 draft. Everyone talks about McCarthy not throwing the ball but that is because Michigan always had the lead. Compared to what is considered the top QBs: first half pass attempts (minus screens) McCarthy 199, Maye 194, Daniels 184, Williams 16. % of pass attempts (minus screens) against top-25 defenses McCarthy 49.7%, Williams 35.4%, Maye 17.8%, Daniels 16.2%. Michigan had a 21 point + lead in 11 of their games this past season. McCarthy didn't even play in 7 4th quarters. In his Michigan career McCarthy only attempted 91 passes in his career. What about crunch time? Well Michigan only trailed in the 4th quarter once, against Alabama. On the game tying drive McCarthy was 3-4 for 60 yards and a TD and he had a 16-yard run. Note that I said he will be the best, Williams is better at this point, but McCarthy's work ethic and drive will lead to McCarthy passing him.

    @jodyfoster9278@jodyfoster9278Ай бұрын
    • work ethic and drive doesn't matter much if hes just plain worse at the sport of football-his arm is worse, less athletic, worse out-of-structure, and hasn't had to face any real adversity

      @kara6020@kara6020Ай бұрын
    • @@kara6020 Come on If you don't think he has a good arm, and think he is not a very good athlete, and can't work out of structure, then you are just simply hating or you have never watched football. I don't think Spencer Rattler will ever be more than a backup, but I know he has a good arm and is athletic. You can say things McCarthy hasn't done and use that as a basis for an argument of why you don't believe he will be good but questioning skills that he obviously has isn't a good argument.

      @jodyfoster9278@jodyfoster9278Ай бұрын
    • @@jodyfoster9278 he is a skilled quarterback, obviously-i believe he could be good value in round 1 right now. but he is not nearly as skilled as the high end qbs of the draft. rattler has a lot of talent, but still less than the high end qbs and has a lot of inconsistency and red flags. mccarthy is a winner, sure, but he isn't truly better at anything other than attacking the middle of the field(like a shanahan style qb) than maye or williams.

      @kara6020@kara602028 күн бұрын

He has that it factor and the intangibles, high IQ, winner, tough, confident, leader, clutch, fearless, loves football, and is obsessed with being great. So how raw was Brady since J.J. had more pass attempts and games under his belt?

    • @@glennpelton4887 you could say all of those about just about every qb in every class since the 60s. loving football and having an "it factor" is good but thats not gonna beat out the legitimately massive skill gap between him and maye/williams. there is value in being a winner, and i think he could be a good pick to the broncos at 12, but he just isn't as good at football as the other qbs in the draft(except maybe nix)-doesnt have the arm talent or playmaking of maye, penix(even tho penix isn't really a r1 qb), williams, daniels, etc.
