They named her Elsie, if anyone was wondering.
TY! I was :)
No I wasn't but thanks
@herbie140582 then clearly, this wasn't for you. ✌🏻
Like the cow name?
That was my Grandmothers name
... So now they are deciding on Roxy's new name.
Phoenix?
😂😂😂
😂 I wish I could just laugh at this joke and not also be re-traumatized 😭
@@roxyortiz8819 Same here babe.... I have often said I wanna start a fb support group for all the roxanns in this world... Ive gone from hhating my name to loving it, to looking for other identiity names i feel comfortable with - to now just pure depressing resignation. LOLLL. Altho - gladly, this younger generation dont know the song as much as mine did - i was 12 when the song came out - my high school years were hell!!!

As a girl named Phoenix in the 80’s, a lot of people over the years have asked me if it was my stage name. Nope. Just hippie parents.
😂😂😂
ok
Your name is gorgeous ✨
Username checks out
Had a male teacher with the name Rainbow, he started introduction with "no my parents didn't know I was going to be gay, they were just hippies praying for a girl, so they got half their wish granted." 😂
My mom wanted to name me Ronja, but my dad hated it and said it's a dogs name. My mom finally convinced my dad. Few weeks later new neighbors moved in. Their dog ran away and the woman was screaming 'Rooonjaaa' trough the entire street. My name is not Ronja now.
it sounds like ganja 😭
Ronja is a beautiful name though, it always reminds me of a children's book I loved... still I do know a cat that is called Ronja so I get why it's not your name. I feel the same about Kiara, it's a beautiful name but I met abour 10 cat's called Kiara so I'd never call a child that name.
@@kuroneko5390 oh, i know a group of girls who became friends because they *happened* to have dogs named after each other. it was like Maddy, Sadie, and Bella iirc.
@dekusi1857 I hate it when dogs are called Bella, since that's my nick name since I was born. ( short for Isabella) I only went for Isa for a while back when twilight came out. I was still in school and the twilight jokes stopped being funny very quickly 😂 Still, it's cute that they where able to bond over that. I had a dog called Becky and all the Rebecca's I met didn't like my dog because Becky is the nick name for Rebecca where I live.
@@kuroneko5390that was my favourite movie based on that book, too. I read the book after the movie aired. I watched the movie a dozen of times. I knew all the lines. Do you know the movie, too?
This is how I find out that Jack Whitehall is not only in a relationship but is literally a father Edit: not because I thought he was gay, I just didn’t expect him to be in a relationship lol
I’m shocked he’s not gay
@@JesusAteMyWaffleshonestly I was on the fence about his sexuality too 😅
@@JesusAteMyWafflesI feel like many Brits are much more comfortable with their masculinity so depending on your background you might be questioning their sexuality sometimes. I do love that about them 😁

I saw where that was going but it still made me laugh. 😂 Edit: Holy hell, I forgot I made this comment and 4K in 4 months? 😂
I was a mistake when my parents were 30 and 35…… They didn’t pick out a name for me at all. After I was born, my dad‘s friends took him to a bar and got him lousy, stinking drunk. When he came back, he went to the baby window to see me in the baby aquarium, and I was labeled girl and my last name. He thought it said Gayle… he went into my mom’s room and said, I see you’ve named the baby Gayle. My mom thought that was just as good name as any and that’s how I got my name. Charming.
At least it's a funny story (somehow), and I really like your name. 😊 My parents couldn't decide between two names, and compromised on one which contained letters of both names. Turns out it became one of the most popular baby names in that time and area. At every kindergarden group, at every school class, at every course at university there were at least three other kids with that name. Therefore my name is not only the lowest common denominator my parents could find, but it also instantly gives away my age and origin aswell as people always need to ask about whom someone is talking because there are so many who are named like me. 🙄
@@summersun6536 So your first name is Summer??? Which is lovely, by the way.
Brilliant 😂 I was named Michael after my grandad... until I was born and they realised I was a girl. There was a "sh*t what do we call the baby now?" moment, and they decided sod it, Michelle, it sounds like Michael 😂
You are not a mistake :) Btw my name is Nimród (meaning hunter in old Hungarian, please don't laugh at me), sadly I can't tell any fun story about it. I was almost named Dominik but then one day dad came home and asked my mom what if they named their son Nimród. They both liked it because it's rare (or at least it was back then, now it's more common) and sounds good, but they gave me another name, Benedek (Hungarian version of Benedict) as well in case I want a more usual one. That's it, nothing special.
@@hungariangiraffe6361to be fair, Nimrod was a great mythological hunter! It was used in Loony Tunes ironically (with Bugs Bunny calling Elmer Fudd Nimrod to make fun of how he was not a good hunter), and American audiences just assumed it was an insult.
Phoenix was my mom's stripper name 😂😂 I died.
😟
😟
😟
😉
Are you sure you know who your father is 😂
I always love his delivery 😂😂
Knew a guy called Robin Hood,(honestly) the story his eldest brother tells about Robin getting his name goes as follows. Robin was the youngest of 8 children, the oldest being 20 and next brother being 19. Well they took their father to the pub after Robins birth and got him very drunk and egged on by them he went and registered Robins birth and his name, their surname was Hood. Needless to say when he got home and told the wife she was not pleased, but they were stuck with the name. Robin stood in council election against John Wayne and won. All true.
Hahaha 😆
I have met a real life Richard Head, I suspect either his parents hated him or knew how he was going to turn out. Now I am a geek, but this guy literally wore an anorak and apparently did not know what shampoo was. we met via a mutual friend, just once, and I asked my friend about 5 times what the chap's real name was. He was adamant he'd know Richard since school and it was his real name.
Honestly thought you knew my uncle then because he was also Robin Hood. Although he was the second youngest of 6 and was named by my grandfather because he thought it was funny. Not a nice joke in the end. My dad is the youngest and just got away with it
Better robin than HMS tho

Not Kiran, but definitely sapphire

My husband thinks Lavender sounds like a stripper name 😂 I just think it sounds old-fashioned

Roxy Roller? Nick Gilder and Sweeny Todd? ...is thing on?
I was almost named Mackenzie until one of my dad’s friends said “like spud Mackenzie!” and then my mom refused to have me named after a beer dog
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
My best friend asked me to settle an argument when they were naming his daughter. Before I even heard what they were arguing about, I jokingly said, “So long as you’re not randomly shoving a Y or a Z into it, you’re fine.” They were arguing because my friend wanted to replace an I with a Y and his wife did not approve 🤦🏻♂️
I feel so called out right now. I did that when I named my daughter Jasmyn instead of Jasmine 😂 . I wasn’t trying to make it unique I just thought it looked pretty that way but I also kinda feel bad about it 15 years later.
The wife is wise.
@@krisa3528 Honestly that's a fairly reasonable spelling compared to what some people are doing these days lol
I had a similar conversation with a new coworker years ago...she had just had twins and asked me what I thought of their names...I told her they seemed perfect. I followed it up with something about how people are doing strange things with baby names these days, like randomly changing vowels to Y and Z. She then told me that her older daughter was named "Kendyl"...oops!
Jack Whitehall is hilarious! 😂😂😂
Roxaaaaane, put on your red light! 😂😂

I really wouldn't choose that name and was thinking "porn or stripper" before he said it but... Phoenix Whitehall sounds bad ass.
Now you say it, it does sound bad ass. But it can go wrong. Either you have a cool girl who is larger than life or an obnoxious one. "Oh god, no not Phoenix Whitehall here."

One of the funniest jokes he did on his tour too. Love jack
I was going to be named Diana because my family were obsessed with the late princess and she has just died when i was born. It's a pretty name. However my parents decided on naming me Donna because it takes the first syllable of my dad's name and the last syllable of my mother's name. They did that with my sister's name too but reversed it (my mother's name first). I grew up hating my name because it's the name of old people. I rarely met someone named the same. I always wanted the common name but in hindsight, it would've been difficult to have people with the same name in school lol
At least your parents weren't Reginald and Margaret.
Phoenix is a beautiful name. Named our Daughter that she is a feisty fire bird 😂😂😂 perfect fit
Phoenix marie. Theres still time fix your mistake.
it's a fantastic name.
It's a great name for a pet imo less so an actual living person
@@melbapeach162 Why would you say that to someone who has already told you that their child is named “Phoenix”? My sister’s first child died from complications during child birth. As a result, she named her second child “Phoenix” because both she and her child had been reborn. My niece is grown up now and I cannot imagine Phoenix having a different name. Maybe you should consider not being so ugly to other people.

I didn't see that coming!! 😅 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I did - ask me hhow - and NOT because Ive ever been a stripper....
My dad wanted to name me Hugo Nathaniel, and my mom just looked at him and went "nope". She went with Adrian Daniel instead. Her thought was Adrian couldn't be shortened ( I know, sweet naïve woman) and the first thing my grandmother did was shorten it to Adie. I'm now mostly Ade, but some people do use my full name. I've had to explain to people (even in the UK) that it's pronounced Ayd and not Addie though. Americans in particular find it difficult.
His delivery was bomb!
I’ve had a girls name picked out if I ever do have a child, I really really like the name Evangeline because it sounds nice, it sounds elegant, and it means “bearer of good news”. It can also be shortened to Eva if she ever wants to sound more modern.
Hilarious!
Freaking HILARIOUS 😂😂
yeah...really hilarious...unless your REAL name is Roxann....
Phoenix Whitehall sounds epic
He is looking better and better
We waited to find out the gender of our baby. My husband offered up quite a few names that were hard passes from me. Apollo, Andromeda, and especially Theophilus. The last one he tried to sell me by calling him Theo, but didn't want Theodore because he had a coworker named that. 😵💫 I told him no matter how nice the meaning is, it sounds like "the awfulest" and I'm absolutely not naming my child that.
"How would you know that?" "Because I've watched a movie in rhe last 2 decades?"
Cute story and well told.

My mother loved a novel she had read as a child whose protagonist was called Ruth. It's a shame that in Italy rutto means burp. Then they decided on Melania for one of my father's aunts, but in my village she was a famous easy woman in the fifties. My sister solved the problem by telling everyone to call me Chiara, after her best friend at the time. My parents were the last to know my name. 😅😅😅😅

My mum wanted to call me Coco, after Coco Channel, my dad snuck off and did the birth certificate while she was at work, back in the 90's when you could do that, and he named me after the woman he was sleeping with behind her back, or so she says. She refuses to call me by my government name, just Jojo. Probably because it sounds like Coco? I dunno. What would have been my nickname? Coke? @@boredweegie553 in the UK, in the 90's, you can look this up yourself, it was legally allowed for one parent, as long as they were married, to do the childs name without the other parent present. I don't know when they stopped this from happening, but yes, you could. No reason for me to lie for youtube comments 😂 Just because something isn't the same for you it doesn't mean you should call everything lies, look things up and you will see.
@@boredweegie553 It has always been the case, even in Scotland, that if a woman is married then either partner can register the child. If you are unmarried then you can only register someone else's name if that person is there with you, or they sign some kind of declaration.

Had a friend in high school (80s) whose legal name was Cougar - I thought it was the absolute coolest name ever. It's interesting to note that many names popular in the world of exotic dancers, often referred to as 'stripper names', actually have their origins in what might be considered 'rich' or 'elite' names. This phenomenon reflects a curious cultural twist where names that were once associated with a certain level of affluence and exclusivity are reappropriated in a completely different context. For example, names like Tiffany, Crystal, and Mercedes, which might conjure images of wealth and luxury, are also commonly adopted in the stripping industry. This could be attributed to the allure and glamor these names inherently possess, making them appealing in any context that values extravagance and opulence. The shift of these names from high society to the world of exotic entertainment is a fascinating example of the fluidity and evolving nature of cultural associations with names.

Fun fact my dad wanted to name me after a woman who was a “lifecaster” is the word I think people used. She would record herself at like all times and all points including nude and sexual situations so my mom thought she was a cam girl and very much vetoed the name and it didn’t help she wanted my name to be from the family or biblical.
