Knife Making: Gyuto Chef's Knife DIY

Watch how I made this chef's knife! It's a western Gyuto
(full tang gyuto) made of 1070 high carbon steel with burlap micarta-ebony-red hardwood handle and red vulcanized fiber spacers.
The pins are homemade too, I'll make a video about them next week!

  • Nice one! I love the Gyuto shape and the hammer finish. Even if the handle is your original idea I can spot in it (in a positive way) a sort of influence from many KZheadrs/knifemakers that I've been following in the last 10 years. Good job man!   • Great looking knife! Definitely inspiration for my future knives :-). Could you recommend some polishing/buffing compounds to me for getting the mirror polish? I have trouble removing the scratchmarks from 2000grit sandpaper while buffing, which leaves me with a mirror finish in which a lot of the 2000grit scratches are still visible. Thanks a lot!
