Two grown men having fun in a car while debating wether they would eat dog poop or cat poop, these guys are awesome!
Men are just grown boys. Don't you know that? I have a dozen T-shirts of my favorite comic book super heros.
Kinda like Ren & Stimpy
Kia and Hyundai are stepping up they're game, they went from being the poor mans car to being a legitimate competitor to most segments of the car industry. Reliability is still a bit of a question, but at this rate they'll sort it out sooner or later. Another banger video boys.
I've got my name on the wait list for a Sorrento PHEV EX Premium right now. They're actually really nice and well equipped, but going with a lease because I want the option to just turn it over in a few years if EV technology and range greatly improve.
Korean cars top the European charts for reliability. Forget german cars for that. You just pay for the badge and a “myth” these days.
Man their designs are actually really nice
If this had a 3.8 v6 I would have one probs
by brother got a $40,000 KIA, engine locked up 4 year later.... engine design is not that nice.,
@@dark6c159 Probably didn't take care of it or had extended oil change intervals.
Previous design is better
I saw some of these on the lot a month or two ago and saw the Conti tires on them. My immediate thought was, Straight Pipes are gonna love this!
I have the 2.5T in my GV70 and I have had ZERO issues.
Plus you have a less problematic transmission too.
I wish they put a regular 8spd in it but that being said I have almost 25k miles on my sonata nline and haven’t had an issue 🤞🏽
Zero issue at what mileage? 10k? 20k? Reply back after hitting 100k. My sorento 2.0t had engine rebuild TWICE before hitting 100k miles. Trash powertrain.
@@Evergreen319at least they have 100k warranty
I have the 2.5T and 8 speed DCT in my K5 with 73k miles with no issues as well. We'll see if I feel comfortable to keep past the 100k powertrain warranty tho lol
I love you guys man! Keep pushing. It might get less exciting but you're giving such great value!
man that tune in the video open is a banger!!
You two guys are unbelievable! Great content! Keep up the hard work! Hysterical!
My wife has a 2016 sorento sx+ V6 and it's a really good 7 seater SUV. We bought it used, 4 years ago for 24k 🇨🇦 with low KM. basically 1/2 price. Had No issues except the AC is leaking gas now. 120k km on it. I drive the stinger GT limited and it's just an amazing sports GT car that has the best value you can get.
I actually bought a 2016 with 15k km back in 2019 for roughly around the same price, it was the 5 seater SX and honestly, it is an amazing SUV and it feels so luxurious
Owner of a 2021 Sorento with same drivetrain. Dad fast for sure, and a great road tripper. USB everywhere and kids love it. Good MPG if you want it. 45k miles and mostly reliable to date. Change that oil!! 9/10 would recommend.
Thanks for continued reviews on obtainable vehicles. Lambos and Porsche are fun, but these reviews matter. Keep up the great stuff!
just picked a 2024 up and i love it so far ! great on gas and overall spacious and fun ride. lots of head turns on the road as people are curious to look into the car itself lol the screen is huge
We’ve had a 2017 Sorento EXV6 AWD for about 6 yrs. Its great. Zero complaints. That 3.5L V6 is shockingly fast. The ride quality is… bouncy… but its an SUV thats to be expected. Cargo and seating space is fantastic and all the creature comforts work great too! Really good vehicles, truly. Not that the 2017 is not a “cheater” 3 row though, its a lot larger. A full-on-3-row you could say.
It’s not a “full on 3 row” something like a Expedition or Suburban is a full size
@@dim5619 but it's not a cheater. The Mitsubishi, VW tiguan, mb B class are!!. You can easily seat an average adult in the back of the sorento.
8:50 lmaoOoao the Dog poop Cat poop argument took me out 😂😂😂😂 Keep up the good work fellas
I picked up an X-Pro last week and love it. Tows 4500lbs. The only things I dislike are the climate/stereo switch and the fact that I can't get to the album art on Sirius without a bunch of taps. Everything else is great!
Ya that extra tap for sirius sucks :-(
Dude, I got an X-Pro 1 1/2 months ago and those are legitimately my only 2 complaints (so far) as well!
I just wanted to speak to the reliability comment. I have a 2022 Sorento SX (top trim at the time) and overall I, and my family, love it. The only issue I've had with the vehicle has been front brake routers warping out of acceptable spec within the first year but my local dealer replaced them under warranty. Other than that the vehicle has been exceptional. The one thing I will note to anyone considering a Sorento, specifically with the 2.5L i4 Turbo is that regular maintenance costs can be higher than expected. I live on the East Coast and because of the the general climate conditions Kia requires maintenance every 6000 km instead of every 10,000 km, or every six months. Then there's the periodic maintenance that is planned for every 6,000 to 12,000 km that starts after 30 months/30,000 km, increasing the costs fairly notably in the third and fourth years of ownership. The maintenance cost difference from what was initially expected is certainly noticeable, in general, and especially when compared to the vehicle we had previously that required less maintenance less often. As an added, unrelated point, the omission of the HUD is a big miss, in my opinion. I love it in my 2022 SX. Because of my spouse's job she's in a new vehicle every four months and the lack of HUD in pretty much all of them is, initially at least, a sore point for me. I'd rather a more basic cluster and a high quality, informative, well-placed HUD than a fancy, adjustable cluster and no HUD every time. I like the overlay of in my (almost) direct line of sight and the removal of the need to look/glance down or to the sides for basic info - speed, media info, active driver assistance modes, navigation directions, road signs, etc. A HUD, at least as an available option, has become a must-have for me when looking at future vehicle options.
Yuri is right with the cat poop thing, Toxoplasma Gondii is why pregnant woman shouldn’t scoop litter! Great video guys
So which would you rather eat
re: relability, my '21's (with the same drivetrain as this) engine has been fine, but the trans went in for recall service and still failed shortly afterwards at 20,000km/2years. Needed a full trans replacement, and was 1 of 3 other sorentos in the dealership with the same problem. Basically the DCT gets stuck in certain gears, and either won't shift or will shift really hard and skip gears. Shame for such a nice car that was otherwise perfect, won't repeat.
@@avis1978only the base trim, others got the 2.5t with dct
The DCT is a poor choice for this vehicle. Kia has a torque converter auto bad move Kia.
Yeah I would always recommend trim levels or hybrids that don’t have DCTs in them. I’m sure the Sorento Hybrid doesn’t have one.
I'm liking this new era of SUV and Crossovers getting a bit boxier and angular after nearly 20 years of boring soft edges and blob designs.
Continental CrossContact tires are really great - had some on my 2018 Compass and it really handled above average like this!
There was a report about bad ground in the early K5 GT 2.5T. Those have been taken care of. All the 2.5T found in Sonata N, Genesis and other Kia’s are fine.
This 2.5 turbo in the sorento is most likely the engine they're going to place in the upcoming Palisade/Telluride. Much needed increase, especially torque. Although the current palisade isn't too bad for a naturally aspirated engine. My main complaint with the current palisade is the sluggish and lazy transmission. So slow to react to your right foot when needed. The only fix is to drive it in sport mode. But we shouldn't have to. I really hope they fix this.
Man props to Jakub & Yuri for their enthusiastic review and banter on this Kia after reviewing rockets that is a Lambo & BMW M🚀 “Yup.” “Wanna drive?” “Yeah, sure.”
“Scripted” content for the win
@@TheStraightPipes ay, come on. Be happy about what you do and that you found your groove, don't knock others for finding theirs just because it's different. Everyone has their strengths. Basically everyone that watches car content on KZhead is a fan of the old trio on Top Gear and they did more than a decade of scripted presentation, so acting like it's inherently bad to script stuff is being dishonest.
Bought this exact car for a family hauler about a month ago. Only complaint is the DCT lurches when trying to climb my steep driveway. Climate control buttons (or lack of) bug me but you can control temp through the voice commands with the steering wheel button so it's kind of a save I guess.
I have a 2nd gen Sorento, an 04' and even my 20 year old Sorento is great.
Theta II was the motor. The 2.4 from the 201x years. I think the 2.0 turbo could be affected also. BTW Conti is a great sponsor to have. Really good tires.
The DCT in these is also showing to be really bad, more of a concern than the engines even
@@davewilson7602 I have not seen that, where is that data?
It’s the whole Theta family (1.8, 2.0t and 2.4). You want the 1.6t Gamma offered in the Veloster turbo, Tuscan, and Soul.
I had the 2.4 liter in my 11 sonata had to replace it twice I like this suv but I don’t trust the engine
@@lionelholmesjr617 That engine is not used any more and the problem with the oil passage issue is well known for years.
We have a Sorento PHEV on order (since Dec 2022) to replace my wife’s older Sorento. I’m annoyed how they facelited the gas but not the hybrid! Who knows when our’s will get here, though. I laughed when you said, “perfect for those with two kids who have to pick up the neighbour.” That’s exactly what we’ll be doing.
December 2022?!
my 2024 SX prestige has panoramic roof, venitlated seats, all wheel drive, bose speakers, cruise control with all the features, napa leather seats, LED lighting, turbo engine, 20 inch rims and the list goes on.... There are some brands that are much more expensive and don't offer all these features...
You know what I actually LOVE!!! There’s 2 weirdly similar top trims that are only a few hundred dollars apart and TECHNICALLY the most expensive trim is almost identical with 17” wheels instead of 20”. This means I can get the highest spec of the car with all the features I want and 17” wheels that are cheaper and less likely to get a flat in a pothole than the larger 20” wheels! :)
And I don’t give a damn about off-road capabilities. But I’m kinda tired of super large wheels with thin tires that get damaged more easily and wheels that get scuffed easily on a curb. I don’t need the flashiness
BEST THUMBNAILS IN THE GAME
After Sam Ofcourse
Daytime running lights linear style reminds me of cadilac XT4. I have it so that's the first thing that i noticed in the sorento
That side eye from Jakub was deserved. lmao It was one thing when Yuri called Toyota _Teeyoda,_ but Kaiya?? That's too far, Yuri. Jokes aside, really liking the design revisions Kia's rolling out. Very sharp!
Im from West Springfield, Massachusetts USA.. I watch all your videos, and I love them all ❤🙏 keep them coming..thank you for all the wonderful content ❤️ 💪😎
Would you guys ever film in a wider ratio (16:9) to make content that fits current phones? I've always wondered why more KZheadrs don't do that. In either case, still great content! 😃👍
The video is already filmed in 16:9. If you mean something wider like 18:9 or 21:9, they would have to crop the video which would look more zoomed in. It also wouldn't look right on laptops and TVs.
@@faeinthebay I did mean that, yes. I would guess most people are watching on phones.
Got me pop & locking to the intro Yuri!
Love how you saya ‘Kaya Sorento’ 😂
I got the 2023 Kia Sorento SX and I kind of wish I waited for the 2024. But I love my car so far!!! Wolf Grey for the win!
Still have 2016 Sorento with 2.0 Turbo engine. Motor stalled at 160,000km (year 2023). Engine oil level gets low (for unknown reason) for theta2 engines and then it broke (Cause i revved it too high around 6k with low engine oil). Kia fixed it with warranty thankfully. Check engine oil often if you have this engine.
Is the no middle seat an option? Or Is it standard? Thanks!
great review - are you guys planning on reviewing the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus?
I'd like to see them review more Lincolns... especially since some of them are so elegant.
@@TheMILVSCRwhy would they care about falling apart junk ? 😂
Im not so sure regarding the aftermarket availability of parts of recent kias given that they usually change each refresh so much
I have a 2023 XPro and I love it so far. The refresh looks nice. For the money, you get a lot of features, some semblance of “luxury” and a good looking car!
@TheStraightPipes - what is the official name of this “greige” (grey/beige)? Looked on the website and they have three very similar greys 😂
Can you give me a brief between Honda crv and sorento ? Both with the small engine 1.5L
When is a longer review of the new generation 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT coming? 🤔
Is DCT transmission used in the 1.6 Turbo-Hybrid engine? I've read bad comments about this transmission.
I love this intro song
Have a 2016 Kia Sorento with the 2.0 Turbo and have really enjoyed driving it. I wish it got better gas mileage is my only regret in owning it!
Want to watch for the 2L. And 2.4 L are notorious Still changing them to this day
they've refreshed them in the hybrids for the UK
Perfect video
She MIGHT just be the most humble and heartwarming person to ever exist ❤❤❤❤ oh sorry wrong vid
I love my 2015 sorento
Jakub: Kaya ay... most Canadian thing I've heard from you guys 😂 The refresh actually pushes me towards it, and it's honestly gotten so much better looking over the years.
Yes 21 auto is the way to go (70 here in the states)
Bought tux mats for my 2022 Sorento now I gotta get continentals instead of my Kumhos
Like for design! Interest how it compares in size and performance with Santa Fe
Family of 6 here with a 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV EX. Problem free at 50,000km. We use the third row all the time, but its not our road trip vehicle that's for sure(F250 for that).
U barely drove it 😂 come back when it’s been actually drive close to 100k mileage
@@cormaro1376 Why are you being condescending? ALL vehicles will have a higher chance of issues at 100,000km compared to 50,000km. I was just giving the world my data point. We DO drive it quite a bit; we got it in May 2022 so not quite two years ago, and my 25,000km+/yr is more than the 16,000km "typical" Ontario car according to various sources on the internet.
@@joemontana4370 well Joe , just putting this out there a good amount of cars are trouble free before that mileage that’s why I’m saying come back when u hit that 100k mileage and we’re see if it’s still a good car like the 10 yr old , 200k+ mileage Prius still moving around lol
@@cormaro1376 My goal was to provide a data point. I did not make any quality or reliability claims based on my data point. Often we only hear from disgruntled owners who have had a bad experience; my post was an attempt to provide a data point from an owner who has had a good experience. I am not able to post my experience with this car at 100k, but I appreciate you letting me know that my post was not up to your standards and that once I am at 100k I am once again permitted to post.
Had to reboot our PHEV when transmission faulted. Steering wheel makes a terrible styrofoam on styrofoam squeak when cold. Known issue that Kia just won’t issue a fix for. Lots of mysterious clunks from underneath. Infotainment system is laggy and flaky. These make we worry about the car long term. Love the Goldilocks size of the vehicle. If you need room for a fully loaded road trip, get a rooftop box. The ride is great.
love that front end design ❤
Please please PLEASE review a Kia Forte GT
Whats the reliability of these? i really like it on the fence or wait for the lexus tx to hit the uK
If you want relativity shop Japanese. Kia still has the best warranty though. I believe its 6 year/60,000 last time I checked.
Just a thought, maybe find out beforehand which powertrain is recalled before reviewing a vehicle and mentioning it possibly catching on fire (more than once). Either know or don’t mention it. 😉 EDIT: quick search answered the question. It’s on certain powertrains from 2010-2019… “The recalls cover multiple car and SUV models from the 2010 through 2019 model years “
Kia execs taking notes on this video - "Ok, at 8:50 compares the different infotainment systems to cat and/or dog excrement." - I love this car channel.
Can someone tell me how’s the anti theft system in this car
Is this a double clutch transmission ?!
Graige is a term. (Gray and beige combined)
Just do the European grey, greige.
KIA are really on their A game lately, looks great.
Cross shopped the top of the line Sorento against the Mitsubishi Outlander 3 Row. It was close, and came down to cost and styling...the Outlander was my choice.
Pewter colour?
Car salesman here to answer the question about Kia engines. The only one to stay away from is the 2.4L 4cyl, the 2.0, 2.5, and 1.6 4cyl are all fine. The 6cyl or the older 8cyl are also good engines in the Kia's
Why does the opening music sound like RuPaul's ASMR Lover? Did you guys stumble upon Drag Race during your car content search? ;)
I would call the color “Sandstone”
Thanks for that deep dive into the merits of cat poop over dog poop for dinner. No wonder I keep coming back. 💩
The look of disappointment on Jakub when Yuri brings up the Stinger is probably going to be an EV. Hits me right in the soul. 😢
Yes, this is a model that blows up.
I have a stinger in my driveway❤ 9:56
10:23 passing the visor test since 2003. 😬
I worked at Kia for quite a while. Pretty much every Kia motor with a turbo ends up blowing up. I have seen it as low as 20k miles. Especially the 1.6 turbos. They are trash. Consistently has a couple dozen Kias in the service dept needing new engines. Not even counting the electrical issues they have. That warranty is an illusion.
Looking really good, but I don't dig the wheels. Four spoke wheels always look wrong IMO.
Well its airy. I didn't notice any blind spots.
IN PAKISTAN THIS COLOUR IS NARDU GREY
I’m noticing they’re having transmission issues a lot compared to current Nissan and their cvts
I don't think you guys understand what flat paint is
Eid Mubarak
How many people said "Flat Greige" for the color?
As long as the engine doesn't grenade
I cannot believe we are getting a would you rather eat dog poop vs cat poop conversation lol wtf
Well I didn’t make those infotainments. Don’t look at me
When it comes down to it, it’s still a KIA!!!!! On a happier note, I have a year in my Continental tires and I have to admit, they are run quiet tire. I went with your opinion and bought them.. Thanks guys…
In next episode: car poop vs dog poop - True beginnings
Cat poop v dog poop 😂😂😂 brilliant
21 is 21. Thank you.
👍👍
Med student here: Some cats carry a parasite called toxoplasmosis that if the baby gets infected with before birth, can cause neurological defects later in their development. That’s why pregnant women can’t clean the litter box 😂😂😂
when you miss the 666 like by four
I thought the beat playing in the intro was 'Rich Baby Daddy' - Bend that a$$ ova, let coochi3 breathe 🎶... Nice truck though!
I got 3 kids!! Woot
I have a 2022 SX with the 2.5T. I’ve also had zero issues at 2 years and 14,500 miles. This is my second Sorento. Debating between the this updated Sorento or the new facelifted K5 GT with the same engine To the Straight Pipes guys, I’ve always been fine with Continental tires. Prefer Pirelli personally. But the Continental CrossContact LX Sport tires that come from the factory on the Sorento are straight garbage. They’re loud, they lose traction in any amount of rain, and the tread water is horrendous. I drive about 20 miles round-trip to the office 4 days a week, plus normal weekend things with two kids, and I’m not a crazy driver. 14,500 miles and they’re dry-rotted on the edges and worn down. Will have to replace before the winter. I lease, so this is something I do so to avoid. Not here. Will be replacing with the new Pirelli Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3
Missed focus on those outside shots? Nice video thou.
Auto focus does its thing and I’m just along for the ride
@@TheStraightPipes Still great shots brother. It happens.
I would call the colour Sorentaupe
Day 3 of asking for a 2019-2023 Chevy equinox review... please
Space in the grill wide enough to take a golf ball now. I do not understand why Kia is doing that. Everyone getting any modern gas engine Kia is having to retro fit these with a bit of plastic mesh to protect radiator and AC. It’s so silly.
