Best line in the movie McGregor: "Our own little octagon." Gyllenhaal: "Who taught you shapes?"
That feels like a line that could be in the original. As someone who thinks the original is a bit of campy, awful 80's schlock, I'm actually looking forward to this remake.
YES!! 👍💯🤣
Agreed
That goofy ass scream Conor did when the two boats crashed and he got launched made me laugh so hard 😅
This is an old Chris Rock joke. Hilarious

😂😂😂
Hey baby
*DeeAms
Damn that wasn't funny at all! How old are you kid? I'm just curious. I'm guessing 15 or 16.
Lol
My favorite character in the movie is the nice gangster "Hey man, I joined these guys coz I like riding motorcycles... turns out they are not nice guys!" cracked me Up!!!
Walking passed Jake with a chair in his hands "Oh, hey man" 😂🤣🤣🤣
"Oh, woah he looks heavy, good for you man."
"Those are your guys' bikes outside right?" "Yeah, mines on the red one on the right" with a helpful/enthusiastic attitude xD
Yeah he was honestly my favorite character in the movie.
Moe (I believe that was his name per xray on Amazon) was such a nice addition. Wanted more of him. Recognized the actor from Narcos.
The first fight was awesome. The punches landed so hard. I've never seen it in any other movie. Not only the chorography, but the camera angles they used, or the technology.
The post-malon one is cgi
It’s them using a new technology where they use the head as a green bag and they hit the bag and then add the face in editing and vice versa and it looks realer
Bro post malone is softer than baby shit
Check out some Tony Jaa fight scenes, like in The Protector (Tom Yum Going). Lots of those blows land.

Road House, Alien, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice - did I wake up in the 80s?
Comment of the day 😅
No, you woke up to a society trying to emulate the 80s and failing miserably to to it
It's "nostalgia" for the kids who weren't born yet and don't know what the word means (you can't have "nostalgia" for what you never experienced). The rest of us never asked for a remake of this thing. No one cared at the time about the original.
Nah. Just Hollywood won't bother with an original idea and would rather take old ideas and retell them terribly.
Don't forget the X-Men just made a comeback, too. Not 80's, or a movie, but close enough, IMO. 😁
The part where mcgregor falls off the boat and you see him just grinning maniacly underwater was the funniest part for me.
That was pretty epic
I liked the first scene he appeared in when he turns around and has that evil grin 😂😂😂
Asshole even walkout from the hospital with his butt out😂😂😂
My biggest gripe with this movie is McGregor's teeth. Good god. It's like he had a contract that required his teeth are always visible. That and the fact that all of his audio sounded like it was redone in post production.
@RealEllenDeGeneres He's coked up to his eyeballs and juiced to the gills. That's his resting face
I liked how the fights looked like they made real contact. Not like those distance, camera angle illusion like you see in Punisher/Daredevil or The Dark Knight Rises with Batman vs Bane, where you can clearly see they aren’t making contact. Conor explained in an interview how they were able to do this. Multiple shots with putting a pad on their faces, and hitting that pad, then redoing it where they roll the punches off. So that was neat.
I don't know why they aren't mentioning this more. I think this was the best part of the movie. I've never seen landing punched so hard on any movie, it was very cool
Wont lie ive thought why didnt films do that so to hear this is pretty cool
Tony Jaa movies like The Protector had the stunt actors make contact
@@MegaKnight2012 really? I was a kid when I watched Tony Jaa’s movies like Ong Bak, The Protector etc. May have to revisit those movies
@@nicolasmaldonado1428 yeah I was lucky enough to stumble upon that interview clip. Thought it was a cool trivia. They really _should_ talk about that more.
One thing the new film doesn't have is the Jeff Healey band as the bar band, which was the best thing about the original & the effortlessly cool look & dulcet tones of Sam Elliott. I have seen the original many times. It's a guilty pleasure i will watch when it's on.
What's coming here to make the comment about the Jeff Healey band. Just the perfect tone of class for the stupidity of the original. And added a little bit of grounded blues feel to a ridiculously over the top rock and roll situation. It was the perfect touch. He was a great musician
What is funny about both versions is that in both there is a full out bar fight & yet the band keeps playing - even after all the patrons have left. Very funny.

@@lylejames965you've got those two takes backwards. It's not funny anymore but Seth hasn't changed

I think they should make some 80s styled movies with Conor lol. I love how he's smiling while playing an insane bad guy.
Only funny part
Best crash is when the coconuts dropped
Hey, the first Road House wasn’t any Shakespeare. This version, with the chill Florida setting, was perfectly fine. The only part I truly missed from the original was when Patrick Swayze spoke the greatest line in cinematic history, ‘Pain don’t hurt’ as he’s getting stitched up from a knife wound. I’m sitting here thinking ‘yes, it does, that’s the definition of pain’.
Roadhouse 2024 was better than i expected. There's only a few minor changes needed. But apart from that, Connor McGregor was brutal and hilarious an unforgettable scene was the old man still dancing with maracas after a huge bar fight. Dare i say Amazon should consider making a Roadhouse series called Dalton. Each series in a different bar in a different town different villains etc. It might just work.
That Connor McGregor post credit scene was hilarious AF 😂.
My man. I hope I am not the only one who lowkey wants more Connor "gimme ya belt" "Maniac" McGregor. Just waltzing around like this being a damn menace, ala crank, sisu, hobo with a shotgun, django, kill bill energy.

Can't argue Conor McGregor is not an actor but man I had a blast watching him in this movie. Most villains are always portrayed in stern serious way but his character/persona in this movie was comedy gold. Yes it was over the top in the way he walked, they way moved and the way he delivered his dialogue but by the end I had a smile on my face watching him tear through the movie. I had a blast with this flick and enjoyed it for what it was.
Agreed. It‘s a movie for the boys 😎
He had couple tiny moments where to me he was legit good, at the end of their first fight when they stare at each other and Conor realizes that Dalton has a completely different side to him and another was in the final fight where Conors whole demeanor changes in the middle of the fight.
Connor is acting all the time. That's how he makes money
CGI was TERRIBLE
@@user-qb9fv3bf2d true, they cheap out on the boat scenes.
Can't agree with you here: i loved every second and had the most fun with an action movie for a looooong time. It's an 80s action flick in soul but has the camera work of a brand new movie and it worked so damned fine. 🙂
100%
I had a blast and totally agree with what you said. This movie was very crowd pleasing and fun. It was very effective at what it set out to do.
the entrance and exit from mcgregor was hilarious
I love how Yin and Yang Conor and Jake are in this film. They did a great job together. I enjoyed this move! It's a fun watch if you just wanna have a good time.
I really didn't get the good vibes for the Dalton in this movie tbh. Dalton in the first one was meant to be redeemed since the doc was able to keep him away from murder, but this Dalton is definitely more broken and wasn't meant to be redeemable. Probably why you think he had no character development since he didn't end up as "the good hero". It's a story closer to driver about how a man who tries to do good, but in the end understands that violence is part of him. Driver definitely did it better though, but to be fair, driver didn't have to link itself to a fun 80s action movie and had the entirety of the script dedicated to the character study while road house has to have action packed scenes and comedy.
@@philtess3126 I had a feeling I thought that what was missing. I felt that although this version was better paced, the original one did better at writing their characters and making even some of the minor characters feel important. The themes were a bit more apparent in the first, but this movie was great to watch too.
@@onmas909 you're definitely right about the side characters. The bartender, the blind singer and Garret were definitely highlights for the first movie and disappointed in this one. The only side characters I felt were better in this movie was the main lackey character in McGregor and the friendly thug who gets his arm broken (and he was barely in the movie).
I enjoyed it too! You notice how when people bash it, they get 1k likes.. but if you say you enjoyed it you get about 50 lol.. JJ audience is hella jaded.. not as bad as Critical Drinkers.. but both crowds are salty af

The introduction for Conor wow… that scene is the funniest most wild outlandish shit I’ve seen in the last decade for movies And it had me and allll my friends dying that we missed the next scene We had to pause it and rewind😂😂 10/10
I hate Conor McGregor, but no more, he was spectacular in this, the way he didn't give 2 fucks, just stealing cars, crashing them into shit, hilarious.
I really loved when he took the guys to the ER. Such a show of pure dominance while also being nice. It's like, "If you want to start some more shit, I'm just gonna hurt you worse. Or, you can let me take you to the hospital."
That was hilarious 😂
Reminded me of Mr. Deeds
The bar owner's "Don't give a shit!" was also funny

The Orginal will always have that magical 80’s charm. Will never be outshined. But this film was a fun rollercoaster and gave some nods to the Og.
Well made? For every good piece of cinematography and fight choreography there were 5 or more awful ones. The story felt like a tacked on afterthought. Some of the characters were good but most were bland and forgetable. This could have been a really good but I can't help but feel the director wasn't sure what movie he wanted to make.
No.
It was interesting, to say the least. Gyllenhaal definitely carried the movie, I can agree with you on that. McGregor's character was a strange creature of itself... but then that could have been just McGregor on a Tuesday. Overall, was a cheesy action flick but they were trying to go somewhere with it, just not sure where though.
Doug Liman brought the heat in the directing. Cutting edge style. Curious to see how it gets emulated. Feels like what he did with fight choreography in TBI
Side note Jeremy's hair is cooking today. Honestly the whole look is fire. When is he going to star in an indie flick about a undercover cop who's been on the wrong side of the law just a little too long?

can never be as good as the original without Sam Elliot, the coolest dude since Steve McQueen. R.I.P.
The first one had really stripped down. Bare bones fight scenes and it worked. It gave it a grit in simplicity. The first movie is such a crazy amalgamation. Impossible to duplicate.
I don't know, I felt like the fight scenes in the original weren't convincing enough, but I do gotta give credit to Swayze and Elliot cause it seemed like they were in camera for most of the fights, but the fights are better in the this one. The first has the best car stunts and explosions though.

Yeah, you try and describe Roadhouse ‘89 to someone and it’s really impossible. It is, its own genre, the Roadhouse. Love that movie. Doug Limon directed The Bourne Identity which I thought was an intelligent movie so I had high hopes for Road House. Gyllenhaal is good, McGregor is a caricature. Young viewers will like it more than I did.

The whole final fight between Jake and Conner was painful it was obviously filmed on a green screen
It reminded me and my partner of the 80s and 90s films we grew up watching. This was fun, and we quite liked the fight scenes, never felt disconnected from the fights at all. Probably one of the first faithful adaptations of a previous IP I've seen in a while. The essence of the original can be felt throughout the entire film, in my opinion. Sometimes, B-grade movies are just there for fun. McGreggor...never have I ever laughed so hard at a villain, loved him. If he was an afterthought, it was a damn good afterthought.

My problem with fight scenes is the fact that the goons really give the hero enough time to attack them one on one. I want to see gritty, dirty, and realistic fight scenes. I want to see some dodging, escape maneuvers, etc. make me BELIEVE this dude is REALLY taking on a group of men…. Other than that I hate remakes…. Just make your own movie…. But I honestly found myself thinking about giving this one a chance. Just to see if it’s terrible… cause I need a good laugh.

The fights scenes were actually realistic but I see why someone that’s never been punched in the face would have an issue with it
The 1989 Road House is my 2nd favorite movie of all-time with a GOATED performance by Patrick Swayze, RIP. This new Dalton just didn't have Swayze's presence, charisma, or swag. The remake was just okay, whereas the OG is one of the funnest films ever made. Plus there was no throats being ripped out in this one.
Really was a good watch .Jake was epic .movie overall was amazing .
It was so much fun! Jake is always amazing.
My main issue was the bar didn’t feel like it needed Dalton. In the original Dalton arrived and the bar is INSANE, crazy fights, drugs, illegal sex and other activities. He has to train the other bouncers because they are too aggressive, and cleans everything up. In this, Jake just kind of sits around and doesn’t feel like he even wants to attempt to be a good bouncer. It would have been interesting to see him begin just as a fighter who is lost (almost commits suicide) and discovers he is a good bouncer and finds his calling. It wasn’t bad, I just feel like the script needed more of a through line and some better character development.
The original had purpose to the characters and events in the film. Nothing in this film has any purpose or reason
@@logangodofcandywhat purpose did the first one had other than entertainment? It's a fun 80s action movie, it's not like it's a transcending film.
you’re so right about that…i told my gf he’s getting paid 5k a week to sit on his ass…it really did feel like he wasn’t needed there…in the first he showed up accessed the place and fixed it, like training the staff…just better story development and we’re talking about a cheesy 80s movie 😂 also conor’s character felt so out of place…i like his almost animalistic approach when he’s fighting but why not making him a little more cunning especially since he’s suppose to be the guy that gets the job done when no one else can…i really wanted to like this movie.
@@logangodofcandy yes. It feels like things just kinda happened around him. He doesn't really make decisions
@@logangodofcandyu didn't even watch it. How pathetic can you get troll?
I'm attached to the original with Patrick. I saw it in theater the day it opened. I don't know why Jake wastes his time 😂
The only thing these two movies have in common is the title 😂. I just rewatched the 1985 movie and there is something charming about Patrick Swayze bring to the original that makes it fun to watch also the movie has a very straight forward plot. I know the original had its cult following I never really cared too much for it. One thing I notice is there is some disconnect on the plot. The opening scene on the original it opens with the main character working as a bouncer and this dude comes in and offers him a job to clean up his bar at his place and says there is good money to be made and that. On the remake the main character is fighting in some type of no holds barred street fight and this lady offers him a job and he says Neeeh not interested a couple of scenes later he is arriving at the bus stop and asking about the place. Later you after he has the fight with the character of McGregor he leaves and the owner of the bar asks him “why are you leaving? Are you afraid?” He replies “yes I am afraid, very afraid”. As he is waiting at the bus stop he sees this bus stop store burned down and then he goes like now, it’s on bitches. In the final scene you see him talking to the sherif and he is like “did you take ‘the villains money’ and he is like “No I didn’t take any money “ the the sheriff says “oh, he has my daughter (love interest) if she means anything give back the money” then in the final scene the sheriff is sitting right next to the villain and he is like why do you look so calm your daughter been kidnapped and sheriff goes “nahh, I just said that so you would give back the money…” Villain goes “yeah, a kind of did take her”. And at that point I was going WTF am I watching here😒
definitely raised some good points, I'm only in my 20's but the original is my favorite movie ever and I just didn't feel like the villain was well developed enough, Brad Wesley was an almost perfect villain in my mind, and I think the main villain could have been either Billy Magnuson or Connor McGregor, it was kind of hard to tell at the end. I also missed the fun relationship 1989 Dalton had with his coworkers, and I definitely wished there was a Sam Elliot type mentor that showed up halfway through the film. also, could have put a Jeff Healey song in there to pay tribute to the late blues guitarist, he was such a good character in the 89 film.
I have to worry that the original Roadhouse is your favourite movie of all time 😂
@@Geohillierneo Not everyone can worship at the alter of Marvel.
no i get what youre saying haha, its cheesy i know but i love it so much hahaha@@Geohillierneo
As someone who watches almost every UFC card, even fight nights, I have been very critical of conor mcgregor and some of the crappy thinga he has done in his personal life. I watched this with my mom and dad, both of them let off some chuckles and we all enjoyed it. Personally, I think conor's attitude worked for the film, and as you said he was basically himself. Regardless, I found the movie enjoyable.
I genuinely had a great time with this film! Other than Gylenhaal, the biggest star of this was the setting. Man that place was cool.
The punches looked so real and authentic in this movie
It was fun af and it was very self aware. Loved it
it’s Roading time
Uff not funny! Don't ever comment again!
Booooo!
Nah, it's housing time.
It's Dbarring time @@Dbarr311
You can’t out Swayze, Swayze. He was the love child of Chuck Norris and the sun.
I thought it was a perfectly fine movie that threaded the line between action and comedy pretty well. I give it a solid 6.5, it’s not going to win any awards, but I’d watch it again without complaining.
I bought the original , it's entertaining enough , and it's the only Swayze movie that I own . Gotta have something to remember him by
I just finished watching Roar House & it was a fucking blast.
Lol no, it wasn't. Stop lying.
Ello there, Lad. I really enjoyed this movie. It did its job well. The only thing that got me was Conor McGregor’s character not being the main bad guy haha.
What’s with the “Coconut” though?
Nothing will ever outshine the 80’s charm of the original. But it was a fun movie that did the original justice. Knox (Conor) dying hurt my soul. Was hoping he would turn babyface after taking out Brandt. It was a fun film.
You missed the mid credit scene :)
You stood up too soon from your living room. 🤓
I will be very honest here: There is sooooo much shit being made at the moment and my wife and I skip all the new stuff and basicly watch older movies and series like Friends, NCIS, Die Hard, and Avengers type movies, but we really enjoyed this. Not "the Greatest movie ever" but a very enjoyable movie. It is better than all the garbage produced at the moment. Fu@k, I even tried watching the new X-Men '97 and first episode was so sutle woke messaging in it that I will skip the rest just like Masters of The Univers aka He-Man/woman/non-binary muscles. Jake was great as always. We love watching Prince of Persia as a fun movie night movie and I loved South Paw. Thank you for the review and i do recommend people watch this as it is a fun movie.
You're getting old, Dude. That's why you're struggling with new shows.
Personally, the problem with this movie was a decided lack of consequences. I mean, losing a bar means a lot to the bar owner, but does anyone else give a shit? Gyllenhaal's transformation was in my mind too lean. There is a thing called physics mass + velocity = KO 😂❤ If your only 75-80kg it's extremely difficult to KO someone whose 125kg
I liked the film. Jake G (can't be assed to look how to spell his name) was brilliant IMO. I get what you mean about the fight scenes too. It's like they tried this technique on one scene, was like, "that was awesome", and just ran with it!
