Just like with Top Gun there’s a lot of money to be made with nostalgia movies . • @@anthonylewis2080 Patrick Swayze was a great dancer, that was his strong point. But he never had black belts, he never possessed them.Consequently, Swayze has never been a master, especially an experienced one, he has a rather clumsy technique in martial arts. I am 40 years old, I have been doing shotokan karate since I was 14. Now I'm training in kickboxing. Yes, I heard that Benny Urquides allegedly offered Swayze to become a kickboxer, but Swayze was 36-37 years old. If at this age you can become one, although it can be assumed that Swayze could perform in an amateur ring in an open ring. Although Swayze is my favorite actor, he has good acting skills, he is plastic, he owns his body well, ballet school, he is a dancer. But waving his legs is not his forte.

Before he got into movies, he also had a career as world champion in full-contact kickboxing, he later trained lots of Hollywood stars like John Cusack or Tobey Maguire in martial arts & worked as stunt coordinator in movies like Sam Raimi´s Spiderman. Patrick Swayze also continued training with Benny for many years after this movie was done and according to him, he had become quite skilled in karate & kickboxing. Also, the bandleader of the house band is played by no other than the legendary blues guitarist Jeff Healey, who was blind irl.

  • Love that the late Terry Funk is in this movie and I used his line that he said to Sam Elliott, one day when we were both filling up our vehicles between Canyon and Amarillo. He just started talking about how a good softball commissioner would be burning off the infield to dry it out, so Larry (son-in-law) could play ball tonight. I just grinned and told him "Just mind your own business, Dad!" Terry just laughed and he let me live another day..

It's obviously not for everyone or not the greatest movie of all time ever made but for it's storyline and type of movie it is is without a doubt one of the best of all time and Patrick swayze and Wesley's best fighter played by (Marshall Teague , another great actor) main fight showdown !!! Plus there are a ton of famous actors in this movie and of course the late great awesome Jeff Healy band !!! Sam Elliott , Ben Gazara , and everyone else !!! Too many to list great actors !!! Also I'm sorry but nobody will ever surpass or top this movie better than this one !!! It's really that perfect and good !!!

    • @@mitchellfagan7701 You are selfish who takes things just by your comfort. Also, I was a fan of fighting films. This is why I was practising Shotokan, Goju Ryu, Kiokushinkai, Kudo, Judo, Boxing and now MMA many years. These kicks of Swayze are awful. They may seem real and working only for those who never were learning some fighting system. And the story is some nonsence. They took some mass fighting like in comedies of the wilde Western at saloons. This film could be still good in 60's and 70's. The year 1989 is the era of Van Damme, a real fighter. Swayze should not take a part in this film. But! That's my point, like you have yours. Any point has rights to exist.

    • the best part of fights is the honor system. there is a winner and a loser, and sometimes a tie, or a group brawl filled with random chaos, but for the most part everyone lives to make it home. the 21st century has much less compassion and a human life isn't valued as much as it was. these days everyone has guns and is willing to shoot over hostile dialogue, or for even worse reasons that aren't worth it.
