Pole Vault Progression - 7th-10th Grade (0’-13’) Middle School - Sophomore Year
I’ve been pole vaulting since 7th grade and I just finished my sophomore year in high school. I don’t have a video for every single meet I’ve competed in, but I have a lot of them. I know 100 subscribers isn’t a lot, but I wanted to make a video when I hit 100 subs so I thought a progression video was a good idea. I started vaulting in 7th grade because my friends talked me into it. It’s crazy to think that I’ve been vaulting for 4 years already. Time truly does fly when you’re having fun :)

Not only did your pole vault improve, but your haircut did too 😮
Fr lol
Keep it up!
Damn bro the improvement is beautiful and the graceful landings 💯🤌🏽
Way to put in that work
You know what Jackson I really think you'll go big in whatever you put your heart to be it band, swimming, or something in track and field. I believe in you, keep pushing your limits. and great job 🥇
Thank you 🙏😁. I can’t wait for you to come visit at band camp in the summer
As a pole vaulter who was self taught for 2 years, you are very lucky to have had Texas exspress 😊 I wish I had that, but you’ve come a long way. Keep it up ❤!
I’m very grateful for them 😁. Thank you!
polevault is the best track event. I love it
I love pole vault too
Man as an another pole vaulter this I great to see I’m sophomore in high school just getting done with my district meet I got 2nd In pole vault but the main point is your doing great with what your doing keep posting I would love to see more improvement 🏅👍
Thank you! That’s cool that you got second 😎 I didn’t get to go to my district meet cause I was on a band trip, but I might’ve gone to the area meet had I gone cause third place only got 12’6”. What was your height?
I messed up on my other comment but I got 13’7.25” first was 16’1.50”
@@gabefessler9523 Nice 😎
Hey great job on the progress! I have a few questions, so this year is my first year pole vaulting (7th) and my conference meet is soon, do you have any tips on form, running, etc?
What height are you at?
5’6 😭
@@SILENT.EXEPRODUCTIONS I’d say try to focus on keeping your arm on the inside of the pole and getting your legs up high. Keeping your arm on the inside will help you go straighter. Also it will help to focus on your turn and pushing the pole away.
@@jacksonpvd6818 thank you
so work on your plant. you take off from a different point everytime. You are usually way under on your plant. It will effect you on longer bigger poles and higher heights.
Oh yeah I definitely have to keep working on that lol
Did u get a pole yourself, or did your school provide one?
My school provides some and I rent some from the club I train at
how long is the pole you used
It was a 13’
How far back is your 6 step?
70ish
What’s yours
@@jacksonpvd6818 69' 3" and my pr is 9' 9". I feel like I could do so much more if I was able to get inverted, but I spent the entire year trying to do that and making no progress. Also I'm a handgrip away from the top of a 13' pole, what are you at?
@@ohtoasty4297 I am at the top of a 13’ pole and my PR is 13’. Inverting is very confusing lol. I struggled for so long on it. The best advice I can give you is: 1. Don’t pull on the pole mid-vault. You want to have a strong plant and you can’t invert well if you pull on the pole and muscle your way up and over. Keep pushing. 2. Inverting is very similar to how you start when your about to start running with the pole. You want to get into that position when your upside down and get your arm on the inside of the pole. 3. Practice lol. Look up some invert drills on KZhead. If you have any questions, let me know 😄👍
@@jacksonpvd6818 Thanks, knowing you're at the same grip definitely gives more confidence
