Overall, Pac Man landed 309 of 838 total punches (37%), including 257 of 570 (45%) power shots, outlanding Barrera by a better than 2-1 margin in that department. That’s an average of 76 total punches thrown and 28 landed per round- par for the course for Manny. The out-gunned Barrera put up decent numbers, landing 172 of 547 (31%- 16 punches landed per round) total punches, none having any effect on Pacquiao. Barrera’s jab wasn’t a factor either, as he landed an average of just 7 per round, throwing 26 per frame. It was All Manny, All The Time in Texas.
Ko
This was an amazing fight. I like to watch it with the commentary muted.
In the first 2 rounds, Barrera's jab was a big factor, and he was getting it going, but after the second or third round, Manny pretty much pressured him effectively for the rest of the fight while intelligently engaging in exchanges. Barrera did land some good shots, and won some of the early exchanges, but Manny found his rhythm, and then Barrera ended up on the back foot for the rest of the fight. Manny has always had a really solid chin. Unless you hit him perfectly clean on the button, he isn't going anywhere any time soon. Barrera fought a great fight though, and I think this older version of Barrera would have beaten almost anyone else in that division at the time. Manny has a way of taking apart great boxers, movers, and punchers. Manny has the full combination of all those traits. If you have good footwork, Manny has better footwork, and quicker footwork. If you are great at maintaining distance with your jab, and accuracy, Manny will find a way to step inside and force you to abandon your jab on the inside, and Manny will use his own jab to disguise power shot combinations while stepping in, and that's all happening while he is showing feints. If you are a puncher/pressure fighter, Manny will dart in and out forcing you to miss a lot of puches, circle around the ring, turn you, give you angles with his footwork, and then punish you by ripping hooks and uppercuts to the body and head before you can get set to throw your power shots. He can also switch from exchanging with his opponent to boxing at any time, and maintains control of himself knowing when to back off, and when to keep firing. I have never seen a guy so effective at stepping inside, and getting out without getting hit clean for the most part. He might take one or two shots here and there, but those shots rarely land flush on him. Manny's speed and power are so exceptional that he can get off, even if he isn't leading against his opponent. He can also stay composed during an exchange while he is getting hit. That's hard to do while taking a shot. A lot of guys can do it, but few are great at it. Manny doesn't have to necessarily be completely balanced to throw effective punches that deal damage to his opposition. He has great natural balance, a low center of gravity, and great athleticism like a bunny rabbit. Those skills and talents show themselves even now after all these years. How many 40+ year old boxers can move like a modern day Manny? About 90% of the boxers out there today can't match him, and he is far past his prime years as a boxer. Even when he loses close decisions, he gives everyone a lot of trouble. The guy is superhuman, and the conventional wisdom doesn't apply to a guy like Manny Pacquiao.
@@shivahuggins1276 That would be great. I generally enjoy the commentary for fights, but it would be nice to be able to switch it off especially for ppv
Epic fight, well matched, both fighters are superbly skilled, thanks for this uplaod
Loved it when Barrera de-throwned the prince
😂😂😂😂and now?
I love these guys. It's guys like these who keep boxing alive. They both fought the best of the best, they beat the best, and they lost to the best. Sadly, these types of guys are a dying breed in sports overall. There are still some great fighters out there like these guys (I can't believe Pacquiao is still active, and really good), but they are becoming fewer and fewer as the years pass. I would think every boxer would want to do what Barrera, and Pacquiao did, but I have been dumbfounded by the number of extremely skilled, and talented boxers who have avoided as many real challenges as they possibly could for the sake of saving their 0. I also get tired of petty crap like money getting in the way of big fights taking place. Not only that, but the media tends to put those types of fighters on the pedestal of greatness when their resume doesn't match up to guys like Pacquiao, Barrera, Marquez, or Morales. You know something is wrong when a fighter like Mayweather Jr is treated like the greatest fighter of his era. Now everyone is trying to do what he did by avoiding risks instead of trying to have great fights that stand the test of time. Sure, you risk a lot by fighting the best of the best, but when you win one of those great memorable fights, it reinforces a boxers legacy so much. Sometimes the fight is so great that it elevates both fighters whether they win, lose, or draw. Mayweather Jr never even tried to do that, yet somehow he is a greatest of his era. Gtfoh
Why did the announcers expect Manny to rush at Barrera in rd 1? He did not do that in the first fight. The knockdown occurred in rd 3.
My question is What did the commentators smoke during this fight?
😂😂😂
Barrera simplemente NO PUDO vs el mejor boxeador del momento ,..MANY EXTRAORDINARIO BOXEADOR !!

I love your clips thank you very much

8 div. champ. Pacman is truly a wonder in boxing. Still you have to give Barrera some credits for giving Marquez (who once knocked out Pacman) huge troubles in their 2 fights n for giving Nasem Hamed his 1st loss who was another boxing wonder in their prime.

Can you say "THE MEXI-CUTIONER"? 🙂

Manny is a good player
Pacquiao had so many great fights, but the most exciting ones came when he took on the Mexican fighters!
Manny , Pacquiao remind me, Mano de piedra Duran from Panama,he really is a great boxer,in all his career he goes fowart.
Not close. No threat to hurt pac at all. Pac way too fast and more active and accurate. Announcers try so hard to sell that it's close, it gets ridiculous at times.
Commentators* Maybe because Pac was always underdog against elite fighters and his early career... Top Rank commentators are always bias against Pac from Barrera, Marquez, David Diaz, Cotto, Floyd etc they're bias to them, they still don't understand Pacquiao's style at this point. Top rank commentators are more casuals, I prefer HBO Commentators better they're more neutral..
Boxing commentators saying Cheap shot from Barrera not dirty? Are you kidding me 🤣
I still remember the biasis of these two commentators..

You're looking at this with the wrong perspective. The reason they reacted like this was becuase the first fight, Manny slaughtered Marco. This was a different scenario, which was exciting because this was actually a FIGHT!

Barrera and Pacquiao, together with Marquez and Morales were the 'Fabolous Four' in the lower wt. div. Pacquiao 2W vs Barrera, 2W &1 L vs Morales, 2W 1D & 1L vs Marquez. Here are some examples of Greatness: ------- T. Hearns KO'd R. Duran (still Duran is greater), R. Leonard beat R. Duran (still Duran is greater), A. Pryor KO'd A. Arguello (still Arguello is greater), A. Tarver KO'd R. Jones (still Roy Jones Jr is greater), J. Taylor beat B. Hopkins (still Hopkins is greater), J. Calzaghe beat both R. Jones Jr and B. Hopkins (still both Jones Jr and Hopkins are greater than Calzaghe), Rocky Marciano beat Archie Moore (still Moore is greater), J. Young beat G. Foreman (still Foreman is greater), B. Douglas KO'd M. Tyson (still Tyson is greater), B. Arizmendi beat H. Armstrong (still Armstrong is greater), Marquez KO'd Pacquiao (still Manny is way greater), Junior Jones beat M. Barrera (still Barrera is greater), Z. Raheem beat E. Morales (still Morales is greater), C. John beat Marquez (still Marquez is greater), Mayweather Jr beat Pacquiao (still Manny is way greater). Manny is greater than Floyd Jr and M. Ali. Why? Because Manny did an EXTRAORDINARY feat that Floyd and Ali didn't. No one in history of boxing that a fighter become a 'LINEAL' champion at 112 lbs vs C. Sasakul (at age of 19) then moved up in multiple weight classes, win 'LINEAL' titles in between , and then become a 'LINEAL' champion at 147 lbs vs T. Bradley (at age of 37). Pacquiao a 5'6" tall, started at 106 lbs FILIPINO fighting away his comfort and won ALL his 8 weight div. championships OUTSIDE the Philippines including his win vs K. Thurman (at age of 40). At age of 42, Pacquiao still fighting and scheduled to fight the #1 welterweight, the #5 Pound for Pound, bigger, taller, heavier, longer reach, 11 years younger, unified and undefeated in Spence. When we're talking about Pound for Pound greatest fighter or warrior who ever lived we are talking about the fighters/warriors 'ENTIRE' career. The 'ENTIRE' accomplishments. Being undefeated doesn't mean you're the Greatest. Losing is part of the sport. The greats Ray Robinson has 19 losses, Henry Armstrong has 21 losses, Ali has 5 losses, Duran has 16 losses, Archie Moore has 23 losses and they're on list of top 1-10 Greatest Of All Time. In August of 2008, upon the 3rd announcement of Floyd Mayweather Jr's retirement last June 2008 here were the top 10 Welterweight ranking: Take note: On March 15, 2008 Manny Pacquiao fought J.M. Marquez at 130 lbs and in June 28, 2008 Pacquiao fought David Diaz at 135 lbs. 1,) Antonio Margarito (WBA) 2.) Miguel Cotto 3.) Paul Williams (WBO) 4.) Shane Mosley 5.) Joshua Clottey (IBF) 6.) Carlos Quintana 7.) Kermit Cintron 8.) Andre Berto (WBC) 9.) Luis Collazo 10.) Jackson Bonsu Remember that Pacquiao fought 4 out of the TOP 5 Welterweights during this August 2008 ranking. He fought Cotto, Clottey, Margarito and Mosley. Pacquiao is the smallest among all these welterweight fighters and started pro at 98 lbs and become a Lineal + WBC champion at 112 lbs. Pacquiao is fighting outside his comfort zones unlike Mayweather. Fact is all of Pacquiao's 8 division title championships were all held outside his country. While Mayweather Jr, announces retirements for several times. 1st was after the A. Gatti fight, 2nd was after the Dela Hoya fight (he refuse to rematch Dela Hoya), 3rd was June 2008 (after the Hatton fight), 4th was after A. Berto fight, 5th after the C. McGregor fight (an MMA fighter with ZERO Boxing record). For large portions of his illustrious career, Mayweather was a master of timing, both in and out of the ring. Despite his vast repertoire of skills, “Money” was a master at stacking the odds in his favour (It Means CAREFULLY SELECTED His Opponents) whether it meant dragging Ricky Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez up to 147lbs (the MARQUEZ Fight was at 144 lbs Catch Weight BUT Mayweather weighed 146 lbs and paid $700, 000 fine) or telling Canelo Alvarez that he couldn’t weigh more than 152lbs CATCH WEIGHT despite the super-welter limit being 2lbs heavier (this was a WBC / WBA UNIFICATION fight). Mayweather Jr got caught administering 750 ml of saline IV illegally.
