  • I remember when fans were saying that Nylander's contract was a big overpay. It is a bargain so it is not the Top Four but the Top Three causing the cap issues. With Matthews getting a raise and Marner getting more in 24/25 signng Nylander means not resigning Tavares when Mitch gets his new contract. Also the Leafs realize other GMs know the Leafs' dilemma and are going to do whatever they can to screw them on a trade.

  • It’s comical that people thought Ryan reaves was at all defensively responsible. He’s been a straight pylon since he was on Vegas. The fact was, leafs needed to get tougher to play against in the playoffs. Another fact, he ain’t playing in the playoffs. So congrats on the next few years of watching him cost your team a shitload of goals and get in maybe 5 fights during the regular season before he gets health bombed every game after spring break

  • The leafs need to continue as they are and start drafting smarter, and get better defence this way, stop trading picks for rental players etc, it’s really a matter of a juggling act to keep the right players long enough together to win a championship, when you here people say the leafs problem is that so much is tied up in four players are people that are fans other teams and comparably are scared of what the leafs could accomplish. And what’s so wrong with the leafs, they make the playoffs every year, every year they are a contender, they have 4 or 5 of the top 30 players in the league, I think the most teams would love to have the leaf’s problems, just leave it alone they’re not broken, not by a long shot.

  • Willie does what he does best, plays the money game. He plays lights out so he gets his price, and when he does, he pulls back. Typical, year after year. He played well last year of course, it’s contract time coming up. Give him what he wants, and it’s trouble. Stick with JT, Auston, and Mitch. Like Burky said dump Willie a get a couple of stud D. What I like what Burke said what he learned from Pat Quinn about paying a person. It’s not only in sports but life. “Pay a person what they’re worth not what makes them happy”. That pushes a person to do better. A win-win for company and employee.

  • Something great has to go back to get a star defenseman. I'm tired of rummaging through the bargain/discount bin. Target some high-falutin bonafide defenseman and ask what the price is. No disrespect to Klingberg, but at present he's not worth 1.99

  • If it's a "hard cap", then how come the Leafs keep raising their own cap to shelve contracts that don't work out the way they'd like them to? They're $13m over the "hard cap" and mysteriously have $2.2m in cap space. It's comical when the Leafs $96m hockey team can't manage to beat the $73m Chicago Blackhawks and have their season ended by the $83m Florida Panthers.

  • I like Morgan Riley, but the man weighs 225lbs, he’s 6”1 and you wouldn’t know it the way he plays the game of hockey. He is not a good fit for what the Leafs need. The Leafs need to become a more physical hockey club and that part is not the responsibility of their top 4. That is the responsibility of the defense and the 3rd and 4th lines which should be essentially checking lines. Morgan is having an excellent season, and would be a high price trade option who you can trade and become a more physical team instantly, if he’s traded for a more physical defenseman. This is fucking obvious! This one body check a period shit that the Leafs are doing right now, would not work in the playoffs ever, in any era of hockey to date. We all know this… so, I say, I love ya Morgan, you’re an excellent player, I wish you well, but we have to trade you to become more physical because we need to win the Stanley Cup. These guys running this team, the coach has to go, he should have been let go immediately following their playoff lose to the Panthers. The management has to go, they clearly don’t understand what I’m talking about. And neither does most of the media.

  • Why are you bringing in this joke of a person to weigh in on Nylander's contract? Burke was still talking about how Nylander wasn't worth the 6.9 mil, on the last contract, literally just before he left for Pittsburgh and failed there! He was always wrong and hes a bully of a person especially against Nylander and just straight up bullied him for years! Well I will watch this maybe the mule found a brain? ... Conclusion: He's still a mule.. But at least he sees the actual value in Nylander 3 years after everyone else did it... Marner must go imo.

    • this is objectively false, he's consistent in the regular season but absolutely falters and withers away in the playoffs, unlike willy or even matthews to an extent. marner has so many horrible playoff choking moments and actively becomes a worse player in the playoffs, he's not even the third best player on the team right now
