William Nylander before puck drop, said "We've got nothing to lose. We're just fu****g playing and hopefully pull out a win". The Bruins were 0-5 in series clinching games. The Leafs were 0-6 at home in the Playoffs. So with Auston Matthews out again, their back was against the wall in a must win game 6. It was now or never. Nylander, who hadn't scored in 13 games absolutely NEEDED to show up and he did. Him and Woll just pulled the Maple Leafs into a game 7 against the Boston Bruins for the 4th consecutive time. This is a first in NHL history. It was a game where both Woll and Swayman made some great saves. We also had plenty of physicality as expected and incredibly, the Leafs held the Bruins to just 1 shot in the entire opening period. While Woll all but secured a shut out, Geekie scored with literally .1 seconds of time remaining and of course Nylander had the only 2 goals of the game for the Leafs. It was a fun one and I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

Everybody talks about how great he, apparently, is in the playoffs but this was his best year to date, and again, it was a contract year. He, also, sat out last contract as money was more important then the team. This team would never make the playoffs without Matthews and, especially, Marner but they definitely would without Nylander. • Maybe not sit him - like if he’s healthy enough to play, you have to put him in - but I definitely change the approach. Bertuzzi-Domi-Marner Knies-Tavares-Nylander Those two lines have been stellar. IMO, you break them up, you make the team worse. So, that means Matthews essentially takes over as the 3rd line center… with maybe Holmberg and Robertson on his wings? Or McMann if he’s healthy? It’s not perfect but the third line has definitely been the weak link of the four this series and uh I think a 69 goal scorer as your 3C isn’t a bad thing 🤣

If we have Matthew we still win these 2 games and maybe even score more goals. • This 1000%. Playing Auston on the 3rd line does 2 things. It lets the boys ahead of him in the lineup know they are driving the bus and it takes pressure off Auston. Best to ease him back in. Besides their game I agree seems a bit too predictable at times. Domi and Marner are always looking for Auston off the rush and that rush game has been shut down with ease by Boston. I’d deploy him in a different role on the 3rd line but still give him all the power play time.

  • Every game in the series has been close and competitive, game 7 will likely be the same. The Leaf powerplay has sucked and Boston's hasn't. Penalties (or lack thereof) could be the difference.

  • I don't watch a lot of leafs games, but I'm starting to wonder if Nylander and Marner are the true heart of the forward group and Matthews/Tavares are closer to a hockey equivalent of the 'Diva WR'.

    @uhoh7541@uhoh754114 күн бұрын
    • Nylander is their best weapon this time of year, and John is trying to play the Yzerman role, D first, offence second but he's not nearly as good at it. Auston and Mitch are the divas tho I think Auston might be getting tired of it. Mitch has all the talent in the world, it's just sad it takes him getting called out and the team about to be eliminated before he puts in the effort needed.

    • @@krob5375 i didn't realize marner had that sort of attitude. I've seen highlights of him making defensive and offensive plays, so i ASSumed he was a good all around player all the time. Thanks for the info.

  • I am watching this series as a hockey fan, with absolutely zero rooting interest. I fully admit that I would have bet the farm that the Leafs were done after going down 3-1. But to me, the most interesting part is that the only thing that has changed is that the Leafs are allowing fewer goals and fewer shots. They still aren't scoring and their PP is still in the toilet. In a strange way, it's almost as though the Leafs are tougher to play against without Matthews because they have to play more defensively! It's been a fun series to watch and game 7 is almost guaranteed to be a classic.

  • Would like to hear what someone familiar with the system would say.. they say that timecode buddy system is 5 microseconds of accuracy, but with the frame drift or interference etc, it is realistic to argue that is could not even of been a goal. This exacerbated because as I understand, the Hero GoPro they use in the goal is not a slow motion camera and they just slow the frame rate down using software. If Vislink is like any of the wireless companies I have dealt with, they probably overestimate their latency to begin with, point is- there is always that smidge of a chance.
