Samsung has a pretty good track record of making these things repairable, but after the disappointing Buds Pro earlier this year, we’re not taking any chances. Today we're tearing down Samsung’s latest wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds2.

  • Thank you! My daughter accidentally knocked my buds into a pool two days ago. One was not working at all. After watching this, I took it apart and messed with the pieces. I put it back together and voila! It works!

  • I have the LG tones and after almost a year of use the glue came loose on both earbuds(I left them in my car a few times durint this summer) but they were fairly easy to repair with some glue, I don't know how easily it is to change their batteries as the battery life on them is still good enough to not notice it.

  • Shame you didn't finish tearing down the case, then you would have shown all the "posters of derision" the wireless charging coil underneath. I assume the Buds themselves charge via the contacts but the case can be charged either by USB C or via a wireless charger. Good video, mine went through the wash. Left works but the Right seems dead. Bud or case? Possibly a new Bud battery.

  • So on the off chance you see this. This pair of treblab x5 2018 I have had one ear but that seems to have been slightly scuffed and I can't charge it. Is the scuff the actual issue? I can change the other one fine but if I add the one that has this tiny scuff on it it keeps the case from charging. It's very frustrating and if you have any info other than the standard "clean them with alcohol" then please let me know

    • I feel like most electronic repair shops should have a soldering iron and certainly everyone who commonly repairs electronics should have one. Soldering really is quite easy if you have an iron and have done it before, takes maybe less than 20 minutes total (thats quite liberal) to heat the iron, wick off the old solder, and reapply new solder with the new part.

    @fleXcope@fleXcope2 жыл бұрын
    • yeah, it's not ideal to have the battery soldered into place. Batteries should ideally be removable without the need for a soldering iron. Believe it or not, some people don't have a soldering iron, don't know how to solder, or don't have the correct soldering equipment for the job - cheaper soldering irons may not be ideal for tiny electronic devices that need a delicate tip and fine tuned temperature settings.

      @TheSpotify95@TheSpotify952 жыл бұрын
    • It shouldn't affect it. If you're mechanically inclined you should also have decent soldering skills. Either way if this is someone's first time taking an earbud apart they'll likely ruin them anyways.

      @RobertNES816@RobertNES8162 жыл бұрын
    • I'm confused how you don't see soldering as an extra step that the average person is unlikely to feel comfortable with. The goal isn't that only experts can fix devices, the goal is that everyone can fix them. Take a Fairphone 4 where you just pull the back cover off and swap a battery, that should be the goal.

  • I have a slight gripe about how you described the earbud charger case, it's not wireless charging, it's more like wired charging since there's physical electrical connections between the charger electronics and earbuds'. Truly wireless charging would mean either high frequency induction charger like the Qi charger (some earbuds use this standard), and radio frequency coupling (just like how the cochlear implants get their electrical power from). Which you guys would obviously know.

    • @@smoothbun a little late to the party, but the cell that we're looking for is the NS1250. I tried a NS1254 but it was a hair too thick and the plastic pink housing couldn't close on top. Problem seems that not alot of these batteries come with the welded plate on top which needs to be soldered.

  • Wait, people actually repair ear buds? I thought if u sent them for warranty they just replace it with new one

    • Well I would imagine that warranty runs out before you need to replace the battery

  • I feel like if you're brave enough to try and repair wireless earbuds at home you probably know how to use and own a soldering iron
