    • The yellow TRX was a blower motor fire. For whatever reason, the motor caught fire and that was it. Repairing that properly will be prohibitively expensive if you have to pay labor as well, so totaled. Getting rid of the smell is almost impossible too.

  • Regarding Midwest rust: My family and I moved from Colorado to Wisconsin. Our then 8 year old minivan had no rust on it since CO doesn't really use salt on their roads. The first thing I did when we moved was take the car to be undercoated and rust proofed. The guy at the shop in WI that did the rustproofing was absolutely amazed that our 8 year old vehicle had no real rust on it. He showed me a 2 year old Chevy Silverado with huge rust holes in the body. Our van is now 14 years old and still has almost no rust on it even having been in the salty Midwest for the past 7 years. That rustproofing was the best $180 I ever spent.

  • One thing you'll learn about Porsches is that the owners aren't mileage weenies like other sports car owners. Actually, putting mileage on your Porsche is a badge of honor. Even Hoovie bought his 996 with over 250K miles on it before he blew up the motor at the track. That's why he called it the Apollo 911. It traveled a similar distance from the Earth to the Moon. Anyway.. Hoovie LS swapped his 996 and then blew up that motor too. Wizard installed the lousy conversion kit and they used an oil pan that didn't provide proper lubrication with the engine mounted backwards.

If I had to do the repairs again with a new car - no rust I could do both sides in 90 minutes. With rust of 10 years it took me all summer to do the job. Rust makes easy jobs way hard.

I noticed it was painted as I was looking and looked underneath one side and the frame is completely rotted. First time I have ever reported a dealer to the state. I was looking for something that would be ok for hauling the kids in when my wife needs the van. It wasn't safe, and the dealer seemed uninterested.

  • The McLaren was stolen from a wrap shop in the middle of a job. The parts were off when they stole it. The wrap was never finished. The rivian repairs are so expensive that insurance never covers them.

    @NoReverse77@NoReverse775 ай бұрын
    • That is incorrect, they absolutely cover Rivian repairs. They have figured out how to reduce the cost of the repairs, even though it's still approaching $30k to repair damage to the rear. But, these are also $80k+ cars at a minimum, so they're not handing out $80k instead of doing a $30k repair. That particular car was just fucked in multiple spots, so it wasn't worth the effort

As usual, Ford was sued several times for faulty electronics which caused massive electrical fires in the Throttle Body connector and Cruise Control with the F-150 and F-250 models when they were PARKED. Ford had to send out a Recall Notice which included the warning to NOT park your Ford Truck close to your house! Those lawsuits changed warranty coverage.

      @Devastator0@Devastator05 ай бұрын
    • That rivian was totaled because that rear quarter panel is not separate from the rest of the body, so to fix it you have to replace the entire thing.

      @melvinmcfly4498@melvinmcfly44985 ай бұрын
    • EV's are almost always totaled unless the issue is VERY minor. They cost WAY too much to repair and anything major really has to be fixed by the manufacturer so yea, reason 1001 why EV's are total junk pipedream nonsense. Btw they are DESIGNED with 10 year lifespans for the batteries with replacements ranging from $6k-50k+ depending on the vehicle. apparently modern vehicles weren't already disposable enough so now they're building them to only last exactly 10 years, on purpose. Because everyone has $80-100k lying around to spend on a new EV vehicle every 10 years.

  • Love them old Benzs, made like quality , solid furniture , fine materials but not as complex and prohibitively expensive as modern luxury cars. Mechanical, solid.

  • Ben (VTuned) succeeded in doing a complete frame swap on a fairly new pickup. In his case, the frame had been damaged as well as rusted. Seemed like a doable project.

  • I’m a fan of restoring cars but with co parts, be sure to go and personally check the vehicle, don’t go by description, mine said runs and drives, when delivered intercooler was missing along with window motors and more damage found that wasn’t in the pictures , like used car sales they take the best angles for them, my mistake for not inspecting it . Buyer beware, have it inspected

    • yep, always ask the dealer if he'll let you take it for a pre-purchase inspection at a shop you trust, similarly, always avoid dealers that partner with your usual shop, conflict of interest

  • Hey Alex, just one thing you don’t want to drive around in a car that people already shooting at. You don’t want to be mistaken for the other person they were shooting at before.
