Today, I am working on scrubbing the back walls of the van to get it as dirt free as possible. #campervan #camper #vanlife #parenting #stayalert

    • Are you planning on camping a lot? Just curious because you could buy a pop-up camper for cheap. Granted pulling one across country would be a pain, but to have a kitchen, 2 full beds, and able to stand up is good. Pop ups are usually under 2k in weight, and your van should be adequate.

      @ToddSt@ToddStАй бұрын
    • @ToddSt Yes. I am planning on camping a lot. I hate to say it but I don't know what a pop up camper is🤔. Kinda sounds like something I would do with hubby especially if it requires a lot of manueving.

  • Girl the ocd i understand COMPLETELY. Im the same way. Wood will add alot of weight but if u gonna paint it white, i would just use something lighter if its gonna be covered by paint anyways. Excited to see how it comes along

    • 😆...the ocd!! Yes, I try hard to just leave it alone. Using something light is an option too. I don't know what though.

  • Once suggestion, I would say when you start looking for like cabinets and things, please go to one of the restores or habitat. I made the biggest mistake when building my van by buying all brand new cabinets. The cabinets were so cheaply built, and they were falling apart a lot of money .

    @vanliferollinwithaltharocco@vanliferollinwithaltharoccoАй бұрын
    • Ok good info!! I probably would have been looking for new cabinets...smh.

  • I’d do a “no build”, when I got my van, I put a mattress in it and started to live in it, figuring out what I needed as I went along.

  • It’s coming along. I got a lot of wood from Lowe’s. They have bin where you get wood on a discount.

    @vanliferollinwithaltharocco@vanliferollinwithaltharoccoАй бұрын
    • Thank you for that information. I am going to look for that wood soon. I need all the discounts I can get❤️

      @rouseyournicholls@rouseyournichollsАй бұрын
  • The wood is not really necessary, plus it will take away some space. Unless you're gonna put extra insulation under it (Which I do suggest bc it's not good about sound reduction) I had an 09 Honda odyssey I stayed in for about 3 years. If you're just wanting the wood aesthetic though, you could go the cheaper route and get the wood grain look planks or click lock or even the vinyl that resembles the cedar

    @PhoenixEvolution@PhoenixEvolutionАй бұрын
    • Oh...vinyl is definitely an idea instead of wood. Big thanks for that.

  • I've seen countless van builds and I noticed on the cedar planks they use linseed oil or the leave the wood in its raw form ( it's like an insect repellent, wards bugs away in raw form ) with the linseed oil they just apply it with a soft clean rag ✌️🫶

    @PETE.K.I.R.O.W@PETE.K.I.R.O.WАй бұрын
    • Ok. Thank you for sharing that❤️. I love insect repellents. That is something I didn't know about cedar.

  • I am suspecting your van was in a flood. I really enjoy seeing the interaction between you and your kids. I love Krud Cutter for stubborn stains. (careful, it will strip paint) Are you considering driving your kids around without seat belts? Or are you planning on traveling alone?

    @Kammy44@Kammy44Ай бұрын
    • Definitely traveling alone in this build. We will use think of something else when taking the family on outings. Why do you think my van was in a flood??

      @rouseyournicholls@rouseyournichollsАй бұрын
    • @@rouseyournicholls The moisture in the recessed area was my first clue, the rust in the van was my second, especially some of those nuts you took off. Also, the bad battery and other issues under the hood.The wires hanging overhead tell me there was an electrical problem, and an effort to solve it. Lots of flood vehicles out there right now.

      @Kammy44@Kammy44Ай бұрын
    • Oh I see. I think I can explain all of that. Moisture came from repeated spills from my kids for over 7 years. The wire hanging from the top is because we removed the DVD player (which stopped working in back-so yes probably a problem with wires), and the battery uuuummmmI am hoping it's because AutoZone's battery are just very poor quality.
