Thanks for watching!
What an amazing person. We don't give back packers the huge credit they deserve. Michelle is a very smart lady in so many ways. I really appreciate that you interviewed her and her wonderful minivan. Thanks Bob
I agree! So glad Bob interviewed her...I'm following now👍
Wow. I'm a bit perplexed seeing her been mentioned here also Didn’t know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, I'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super.
As with so many things in life the few ruin it for others and can't even stop on the side of the road to sleep without being harassed and told to move on.
Michelle has it all together. I totally admire her. And she did an awesome job on her minivan build. Love it!!!!
This build is beautiful! She has good taste.
organized, beautiful and not overcrowded
We're going on 7 or 8 years 🤔. Taking a year off , but wouldn't go back to taking care of house,,,, making payments,,, or pay home owners insurance anymore! Besides ,,,, having an RV, or a car or a van or whatever it is we're living in. No one can take away from us if we don't pay our taxes every year.
I totally agree with you. I will never go back into paying that kind of money
Me too brought a 24ft retro caravan don;t want another house 😊😊😊
Its a Sad reality in America that homeownership is out of reach. In my 60’s and growing up I thought life would only improve by leaps for All. Hard to witness what our country has become. The Representatives, alphabet agencies, and foreign influence have destroyed what took years and sacrifice of our citizens.
@@auroranite well its also out of reach in germany now. And many older ppl have now Problems to Pay the bills for a own house. We will see when Vanlife becomes common in germany but the way it goes atm is a dead end. 😢
Amen to THAT!
That's a very very nice minivan build. I wish Michelle all the best on the PCT!
Michelle has one of the absolute best minivan builds that I've ever seen! Thank you so much for sharing!
Wow her story is frighteningly like mine. Im 61 , in a bad relationship and love backpacking and the outdoors, I so want to get a minivan and make the move while im still youngish. Takes a lot of courage , and s lot of letting go
OMG, I LOVE her build!!!! efficient and attractive!!
This is the best mini van build. Very professional, clean lines.
Im excited to be joining all of you guys in quartzite this upcoming winter for the first time.
Michelle's 6 years expertise is obvious with that floor plan. Great video Bob! Thanks! ~ 🦋
Very organised, not overbuilt very clean and minimalist. Love it
Wow! Great setup!
Cant help but like that lady! Way to go Michelle!
Very nice build Michelle. Best of luck to you.
Michelle seems to be an amazing person. I wish her well and a safe backpacking journey. I love her van. Bob I really enjoyed this video. It’s one of the best. Thanks
That lady is amazing, I wish I had half her skills. She's really got life figured out.
Beautiful van build. So smart and efficient. Best of luck on your through hike and all your travels, Michelle. You’re an inspiration to us all! 17 miles of hiking everyday day is no joke! I will follow your hike on FB. ❤
I've been section hiking the PCT since 1978, and hope to finish Oregon this year. So I might see you on the trail this summer. Have a great hike.
Wow Michelle, you have a fantastic set up in your minivan. I am just stunned and compl;etely fascinated by all the space you have in there, and all the many many options to store stuff and have functional solutions for all your needs. It looks incredibl! I just love the cabinets and drawers on the side!!! It is very tidy and neat and just looks as if you have a much larger appartment in there. Truely fantastic! You seem a strong, resillient and resourcefull woman who is making her way through life. I think all you shared was incredibly inspiring! Well done!!! Wish youi many many happy trails and wonderful experiences outside in nature. Greetings and best of luck, thank you Michelle and Bob!
Great van setup and what a great woman! She is rocking it!
This a great testament that you can have a very nice and functional build that doesn't cost a lot of money and get you out there.
Wow.wow.wow.I love the way she has done this van. The best I've seen x
This is an amazing minivan build. Nicely done, Michelle!
I really would like to work the beet harvest. The deal breaker is that those crops are sprayed with roundup for the entire duration of it's growth. On top of that, beets have been genetically modified to accept roundup without killing the plant
🤔 so then why would you want to work the beet harvest? 🙃
You might want to do a little bit more research on the process. Yes they are roundup ready but if you think other fruits and vegetables aren't, you need to look into it. Unless you're strictly organic, unfortunately most of our foods are modified in some way. Have you looked at the sugar that you bought lately? If it says cane sugar then it comes from sugar cane, if not it comes from one of our sugar beets. So if you're eating products with sugar you're probably eating it anyway. I don't get into that controversy, I just like to go and do my job.
A paid version of WWOOF - a int'l organic farm volunteer internship. WWOOF definitely understands the pesticides and GMO hazards and there are likely farms looking for workers that are in a similar vein.
I have a small r.v. w/ a sofa bed , small kitchen & a bathroom w/ shower. BUT I am so comfortable in my house I just can not make myself go ! I guess u need to be an adventurous person like this beautiful woman . I've said it before & I'll say it again it's all in the mind of the beholder !? 😊❤
sounds like either you don't actually want to do this lifestyle, or you do but you can't make the leap. hard to tell from your comment, but the words "so comfortable in my house" ring in my ears. i mentally crashed and burned and shut myself into my very comfortable house for years. i eventually realized that it was either going to end up being my coffin or i was going to have to... just GO. it was one of the hardest things i've ever done, but i forced myself to find the energy to close that life down, get in my tiny car, and GO- somewhere, anywhere. i started driving with no plan, and every mile i felt a tiny bit more alive. after rambling across the country for several months i heard of 'vanlife' through bob's blog- yes blog, it was that long ago, before this youtube channel. i bought an old van, got a dog, and here i am this lovely morning a decade later, old dog outside chilling on his cushion, van doors open to the cool morning desert air, sipping coffee and reading your comment. i have never, in all my decades, been more comfortable, and at home, and alive, and tranquil. and i really hope that if you are, like i was, TOO comfortable in your house, and you really do want to GO but "can't make yourself", you dig deep and stare down any fear of the "adventure" aspect. it will start as an adventure all right because you'll be learning and planning and problem-solving, but then it can settle down into a comfortable routine if you so desire. or not 😁. it's all up to you. if none of this applies to you, my apologies for projecting it on to you, but your comment struck me. either way, i wish you well
@@nonya.biznessI really love what you said. I'm really comfy in my home but the road keeps calling. I'm a few years short of retirement and thinking often should I stay or should I go. I often wonder what my plan will be if I go then become so old where I can't drive any longer. What is your plan or are you taking it as it comes then deciding?
Very well said. I'm so ready to dump this house, & all of the disgusting bills to go with it, but can't right now since I take care of my mom in end stage alzheimer's. @@nonya.bizness
I go to the casinos to hear music , I go to bed right there , so don't have to drive at night . Been to CA. For a few months but it's so wonderful to get back to my house AND my bed ! The idea was to move into it & sell my house , but the thought of not HAVING to do it is a great feeling , so who knows 😅 I'll go with the flow , isn't that great ? I'm just so happy all by myself in my house it's like a vacation , just doing nothing .
LADIES LET'S DO WHATEVER MAKES US HAPPY ! don't worry about the future , worry when it gets here , whenever u can't drive anymore you'll find out the next answer 😉
Michelle has a great setup, and that is awesome that she is doing the PCT! It was great to meet her, Bob, and many others at the RTR this year! Hope all is going well!
It's 1 of the best builds iv seen.
A lot of storage and nice set up. I love this set up
I just saw a magnetic tent like cover that goes around the flip up hatch. It would be perfect for her shower toilet of just lounging. Best van build I’ve ever seen.
It’s Steely Van’s twin! Love the build! One of the things I would have done differently is put in flooring like that. Carpet is a pain to keep clean, and the stow n go is harder to access. Good luck on the PCT, Michelle!!!
That’s an exceptional van build, way to go Michelle!
Perfect low top van rig setup! That will be a lot of miles on the PCT but what an adventure that awaits!
I love it . One of the best mini vans set up that I have seen in awhile . You have a great life going on for yourself.
Great build! Good luck on the PCT. Thanks Bob for the great video. Safe travels🌞🦋💖
Happy trails on your PCT adventure. Good decisions, nice van utilization. Thanks, Michelle, for sharing your story.
A very nice mini van build out.
Love the prayer flags. I have them in my van too
Nice setup, kudos to your new life! Anyone with these model vans should replace the plastic heater hose y-connector with an aftermarket aluminum one, you'll be glad you did! Thanks for sharing!
What make and model is it? Year?
Michelle's a skilled woman cutting the plywood w/ a jigsaw. for her counter top,,, great videeo again Bob,,, ur the king of van-videography
Very nice setup, God Bless your journey 🙏🏻
Great set up! Good for her seems at 6 years she has it figured out . Very nice, thanks for the tour. Safe travels. Much love and many blessings
I think this is my favorite minivan build. I didn’t think I could handle a minivan (I have a Ford 350 Econoline) but this is so perfect that I’m going to watch it again!
Former A.T. thru-hiker myself and anything bigger than a 2 man tent is a mansion these days.
She is a true adventurer. To hear her talk, it's clear her main objective in life is to keep on being a traveler. And work to earn so she can continue living her own idea of life. I thought my road trip from California to Upstate N.Y was adventurous. I had a starting point and a destination. No stopping to sight see ( I did give myself Chicago though, found out it was my kind of town). Outside of that, the only sights were from the inside of my car windows. I saw a lot, sometimes, too much. It was an epic experience for sure. I had a sense of adventure, but not the courage. This van lifer has both. Hiking trails, camping in the middle of nowhere, sleeping under the stars, waking to the Sun, breaking camp, then back on the trail, or the road again. Oh, how I wish that could be me, too.
Love her van build. It's really nice looking. And a hard-working woman. Thanks for introducing us to Michelle Bob.Safe travels.
Excellent interview! As an aspiring vanlifer, I really appreciate interviews with folks like Michelle who have been doing it for a while and can share their wisdom. Thank you!
Thank you for interviewing Michelle and touring her Minivan. I really appreciate her outlook and experience. I have been struggling with trying to love my class b, but find I enjoy traveling and camping out of the minivan more... I too backpack so maybe I am not as broken as my family think I am. Best wishes on your thru hike Michelle. Thank you Bob for another great video. Safe travels.
🎉 congratulations 🎊 I agree with Bob one of the best I've seen. keep living and loving and spreading kindness as you do!
Have a wonderful adventure Michelle 😊😊😊😊 Thanks for the van tour😊
Nice build for sure. I wish I could hold up physically to do the beet harvest.. Those days are past but that's okay I still love my vanlife❤
Wow, I watch so many videos on van builds of all shapes & sizes, you name I I've seen a lot of them. This one is amazing in every way. Seriously though it's perfect. Thank you.
I admire people who do live this life. For me I would really miss being able to sit inside. Unless your laying in your van your out in the elements.
At 4:35 she mentions the bed is built like a recliner so she can sit up.
That was the most important thing in my build is that I was able to be comfortable sitting or laying on my bed. It's not as high as I would have liked it to be as far as sword underneath goes but it's perfectly comfortable for being in long periods of time.
Nice! This right here is wisdom! Given the way the economy is moving one could easily sense danger ahead, living a minimalist lifestyle is definitely the way to go !
I'd love to do what she's doing! Good for her!👍🤗
Once she started showing the inside, I forgot it was a minivan. Awesome build
Great van build & Thank you for sharing...Blessings in your life journey!!!
Good luck on the PCT Michelle! Thanks for the view of your van.
Very nice and functional build.
With a build like that, who needs an RV constantly falling apart and needing sevice? Brilliant.
i like the idea of minimalism so much. i feel like i get easily overwhelmed in life and the more basic and simple something is the more it appeals to me.
Awesome 👏 PCT good luck to you
Being a long timer, I observe similarities in outlay with Brian from Adventurevanman, also a long timer. The bed across the kitchen, being used as seating with storage on the side.
You're always so encouraging Bob. Safe travels Michelle😊
Thanks for the video,
Very unique rig I like all the extra storage space she made!
You are truly a brave woman with an adventurist soul. I want to follow you on Facebook. Be safe, and I love your van.
Well done. Thank u for sharing.
Love all of the storage, great build!
I'm excited for your hike. I've done lots of it in sections. You're an inspiration for sure.
Sorry for your Loss.she is in a happy place with the lord. Prayers for you and your family.
Good job Michelle ! Good to see ya livin the dream !
👋 I do Michigan beets! ❤ Going on year 3! And Bob, I put you as my referral! 😃❤️👍. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it and look forward to returning! Being a sr woman I was apprehensive about being able to handle the job, but now I can assure any other senior women that the job is very doable and not difficult at all. Just prepare for cold !
Great idea on the tension rods to hold the window covers. Great build and story
Wow! Your van is amazing!
Beautiful van build, great design.🌻
Amazing woman ! Good luck backpacking on the Pacific Coast trail !
Great van build! Good luck on the PCT and have fun!
She did a great job.
Good for you! I thru-hiked the AT in 2012 and will be on the road with my ambo next year. Good luck on the PCT!
Love seeing people so squared away! Makes my heart happy to see this level of organization! #goals
I’m proud of her!
Hello from Puerto Rico Bob and friends
Almost six years here too…wouldn’t go back, this is my new normal and I’m good!
Very cool woman. I admire her so much. Go Michelle!
Thank you for sharing this! ❤
Thank you for sharing ✌️💖🤟✨️🧚♂️
Nice van setup!
Very nice setup! ❤
Creative lady
Nice setup. She's inspiring.
Nice simple build. Thanks.
I really like how she set that van up
My favorite video yet! I’d sure like to connect with this person when I finally get the van I’m so rigorously searching for. I’m having trouble with the finding and affording a good mini van. I gave up on the transit and promaster ideas due to lack of funds. My disability income doesn’t impress the lenders at all. I am working with a fairly ok down payment and an ok monthly payment but it would be awesome to be able to pay for it outright. I’m paying rent right now and it’s a killer in the Seattle area I’m seeking personal freedom. I refuse to abandon my plan. One hoop at a time but I do want to be on the road before it gets real cold and wet up here again. Thank you Bob for your inspiration ❤
thanks bob..
Another great interview, thank you ❤
Yes !😊
Nice set up. Happy trails 👣 and good luck on the Pacific Crest Trail 🥾🎒
Thanks for sharing
