Return of the Obra Dinn is a 1-bit-colour murder-mystery adventure game and puzzle game that describes itself as "an insurance adventure". In this spoiler-free Return of the Obra Dinn Review I'll walk you through what the game is, what it does well, discuss some ways in which I think the game could have been even better.
To minimize spoilers, I only show Return of the Obra Dinn gameplay from the first 30 minutes or so.

Great review, thanks!
Great video as always!
this went directly onto my Steam wishlist!!!!!
just found your channel, really puzzled as to how small that subscriber count is. you gained a new one for sure, you know what youre doing :)
Hey Ash! Thanks for your comment. Always nice to hear people like what I make :) Looking forward to hearing what you think of my next video!
Great review! Not my type of game but seems interesting!
Awesome! I'll check it out! :D
I'm feeling generous, here's another comment.
Very kind of you my man. Thanks :)
Would love to see outer wilds next!
That game has been on my to-play list for so long and I'd love to make a video on it. Thanks for the suggestion mixalhs!
@@Carbon_Cola I would definitely second Outer Wilds. It was the game I played immediately after Obra Dinn and while it is a very different game, it shares much in the way of player discovery.
@@Carbon_Cola I'm doubling down on the suggestion. The game is well received but very underplayed from my experience talking about it. I'm pretty sure you could make a great video on it. Game stands out in many ways from gravitational physics to the story structure that envelops by the demands of player's curiosity.
But wait, that's not all, yet another stranger comment appears!
Legendary support, thanks Konay!
It's not exactly "spoiler free" when you spoil The Doom.
I suppose it's subjective what is defined as a spoiler - I was wondering if I should try to show inconsequential scenes from the entirety of the game, or restrict myself to the very beginning of the game to make sure as much as possible of the game remains unseen/unknown. It's much easier to explain "Only 30 mins from an 8 hour game is seen in this video" vs "there are scenes from the entire game but I promise they are spoiler free". The former approach just feels a lot safer, but unfortunately there simply isn't that many interesting visuals to fill a 10 min video without showing the doom at all. I was conflicted on showing the doom in any case, but I think it was the right step. It's one of the first memories you explore in the game that I think serves the purpose of catching the attention of the player and giving a "wow" effect - and I figured I can try to do the same in this review. In any case thanks for your comment and feedback!
